OK, I went and read the article. The judge´s ruling is apparently that even though the school offers a girls´ hockey team, the argument that the team is not "equivalent" has a reasonable chance of standing up in court. If she were to be denied the right to play on the boys´ team, which the rule says she has if the girls´ team is not equivalent, and her argument was upheld in court, she would suffer irreparable harm by not being allowed to play on the boys´ team in the meantime. In terms of the issues of the case, the judge´s ruling is the correct one. There is no particular harm to her continuing to play on the boys´ team (something she has done for the last two years until the school established a girls´ team this year). There is no harm in waiting to determine if the girls´ team is truly equivalent under law before enforcing the rule banning her from the boys´ team.

Eliminate single sex teams. Just have teams for various sports, let anyone otherwise eligible to try out, and if someone makes the team, good. If the team winds up to be unbalanced by sex, also good.
Let´s stop the Title IX insanity that forces judges to count the number of angels dancing on the head of a pin.

Way back many years ago, some of us (young men) used to play baseball in a field. A neighbor kid played with us, and one day his mother came out and joined us. After that, we couldn´t wait for football season, and the hope that she would play that with us.

I have no problem with her playing on the boys team if she can compete as long as it is publicly acknowledged that there is a double standard (boys are generally superior to girls in most athletic sports)and that boys should not play on girls teams.

This is a PRIVATE school. The judge should be horsewhipped for telling a private institution who can play on what sports team!

These issues become more relevant now that Judges and Sports Federations are allowing ´pseudo´ women aka transgendered men, now women to play on women´s teams ........... they have height and physical advantages [from years of testosterone] over the vast majority of women.

If we are talking ´mixed´ non single-sex teams, skill, ability and talent should be the criteria.

......... same goes for jobs, ie. not forcing fire companies and police departments OR Military to use different criteria [lesser] for women in former men´s professions .......... though there are some very masculine women who would qualify under MOST physical tests.

Affirmative Actions is Affirmative Action under whatever disguise.

Why not be the best on the girls team? Or if she is really that talented, explore other schools and leagues? It´s not unheard of for the parents of future Olympians to move or send their kids to another town so they get the best coaching. Why does this girl and her parents feel the need to turn this into a political statement? Let´s face it, that´s exactly what this is.

All of this is ridiculous. If she´s good enough to play with the boys, which it´s clear she is then butt out. The NHIAA, the courts should take a hike. 40 years ago a girl played on my high school baseball team. She played the same role I did, late inning defensive replacement. Neither of us could hit a lick but we were great with the glove. No one objected to her, no parents were outraged. Everyone supported her. No courts, no bureaucrats. Why can´t common sense prevail.

Problem 1 is that while the exceptional girl may be able to play a strength-related sport at the level of an average male, most girls will not. But nevertheless they are all in the class of those treated unequally, so keeping one out is the same as keeping them all out. So the quality of play (and thus interest) will decline.

Problem 2 is that women playing a contact sport (ice hockey is most definitely one) will either face serious injury (it´s just a matter of time) as she collides with a much huskier male) or the other players on both sides will be told not to hit her and the quality of play (and thus interest) will decline.

Who wins? A few girls, the feminist movement.

Who loses. All the rest of us.
