Barber shop conversation in
Wentzville about Connecticut
shootings ends with
shots fired at customer

St. Louis Post-Dispatch, by Susan Welch

Original Article

WENTZVILLE • A barber shop patron who fired three times at another customer discussing the Connecticut school shooting has been charged with three felonies. Lester Davis, 57, of the 400 block of Highland Meadows Place is facing charges of first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a weapon. (Snip) According to court records, Davis is a felon, convicted of second-degree homicide and unlawful possession of a weapon in Middlesex County, N.J., in 1975. Records further state he has been involved in numerous verbal altercations with neighbors, resulting in an order of protection being issued against him.

Comments:
How many laws broken by Mr. Davis? None of them seems to have been enough to stop him. And given his response to the other customer´s comment, he should probably have a mental health evaluation.

This will really help Conservatives in the gun debate.

Add On:
On his radio program tonight Eric Erikson pointed out the "slavery" Amendments to the Constitution, 14th, had a companion law "which guaranteed Black southern ex-slaves the right to guns to protect their homes".

Off course liberals do not care how our laws came about.

The point here is that according to law he should not have had a firearm, laws only disarm the law abiding.

Everybody here gets it. It is so simple and obvious I don´t understand why everyone doesn´t get it. It is because of criminals like this guy that law abiding citizens feel the need to arm themselves. The current gun laws didn´t protect anyone from him, and stricter laws would have done no better.

Opponents of a Convention of States long argued that there was an unacceptable risk a convention might do too much. It now appears they were mistaken. So they increasingly argue that amendments cannot do enough. The “too much” contention was first promulgated in modern times by apologists for the liberal, ultra-activist Earl Warren/Warren Burger Supreme Court. Specifically, these apologists feared a convention might propose amendments to reverse their favorite judicial decisions. Their tactic was to claim that an amendments convention, even if legally limited, could turn into a "con-con" that disregarded its limits, repealed the Bill of Rights, and restored

LOWELL, Mass. — Police in Lowell say a man who demanded money for shoveling the driveway of an elderly couple who hadn’t asked him to do so was chased away when the 79-year-old woman answered her door holding a gun. Police say the man knocked on the door of the woman and her 81-year-old husband at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and forcefully asked for payment for shoveling. They told him to leave, so he banged on the door harder. Police tell The Sun that the woman came to the door again, this time holding a gun at her side.

Via Matt Lewis, here’s Maverick once again demonstrating that “cordial relationship” in politico-speak means “two people who can’t publicly admit to hating each other but obviously do.” And it’s a cheap shot. Cruz’s point yesterday at CPAC was that Dole, McCain, and Romney lost because they weren’t conservative enough. That’s not because they’re gutless — he said specifically that they were “good” and “decent” men — but because they’re not committed, full-throated ideologues, even less so when they’re fighting for purple states in a national election. We can debate whether that’s true but there’s nothing offensive in raising the subject.

What’s been said of confession — that it is good for one’s soul but bad for one’s reputation — can also be true of testifying to Congress, so Lois Lerner has chosen to stay silent. Hers, however, is an eloquent silence. The most intrusive and potentially most punitive federal agency has been politicized; the IRS has become an appendage of Barack Obama’s party. Furthermore, congruent with exhortations from some congressional Democrats, it is intensifying its efforts to suffocate groups critical of progressives, by delaying what once was the swift, routine granting of tax-exempt status. One of the most seismic changes in American politics over the last decade has been the emergence of a sharp generational split among the electorate. The Democratic Party owes its success in the last two presidential elections almost entirely to overwhelming support among the very young, which has overcome continued conservatism among older voters. The Pew Research Institute has dominated the field of exploring the ideological cleavages among different generations. And its latest survey shows again how the liberalism of the youngest voting cohort, millennials, remains firm, and likely to continue to recast the electorate. A few charts from the survey
