East Indians are considered to be Caucasian which is based on their bone structure not skin color. FYI, most on the right believe in people making their own decision on birth control and not the government making us pay for it.

Jindal is right. De-politicize the issue, and you take away one of the Democrats´ most effective weapons. Who knows how much damage Santorum did to Republicans with his idiotic comment that, if he were president, he´d talk to the nation about how birth control wasn´t okay for Christians.

If it´s an over-the-counter medicine, it´s not covered under insurance. Nobody is forced to buy it, but they will spend their own money to buy it if they chose to buy it.

Employers won´t be forced to cover it in their insurance either, since over-the-counter drugs aren´t covered by insurance.

Laws are already on the books that wouldn´t force any pharmacy to sell it over-the-counter if they had moral convictions against it.

Most conservatives use birth control. I don´t know of any conservatives that want to ban birth control. They just don´t want to force any employer that has moral reasons not to pay for birth control to have to pay for it or go out of business (or at least pay huge fines).

Bobby Jindal is one of my few hopes left that the Republican Party might just survive as a real major party of conservatism and not a minor ´´Demon-RAT lite´´ party.

well, I don´t have a problem with what he said as long as I don´t hear any stories about what a devout Catholic he is. Republicans didn´t say anything about birth control as far and banning it so I wasn´t too concerned about it. Sounds to me like Jindal is letting the dems set the table on what we believe or don´t believe.

I remember when they banned phenylpropanolamine because 1 out of a 100 million women or some ridiculous number might possibly have a chance of perhaps someday having heart trouble. But yeah, let´s make birth control pills OTC so kids can buy them and get even further feminized. The war on men continues by all means possible.

I totally agree with Bobby Jindal on this. The overriding fear and suspicion liberals have of conservatives is that we want to restrict the ability to engage in sex of any sort, without dealing with the consequences. Of course, over the counter birth control won´t protect them against STDs, but might help reduce the number of abortions, the last chance birth control that is the holy grail of liberals.

Yeah, I have the same problem. A lot of people who seem to be classified as non-white (e.g., many Hispanics, Middle-Easterners, and Asian Indians) sure look white to me and fall into the classic "Caucasian" category and seem pretty white to me. I think the goal is to peel off enough "whites" by classifying them non-"white" so that they can declare "white" people a minority. They could get there now if they would just take a page from 19th Century nativists and classify people of Irish, Italian, Slavic, Greek, and Jewish descent as non-white, too.

Of course the real issue is culture, not skin color, facial features, or build, which is how all of those groups once attacked by the nativists came to be widely considered "white". It´s also why few people think of East Asians, or even Asian Indians for that matter, when they hear the word "minority" or "non-white" because those ethnicities have largely assimilated culturally.

Speaking to Governor Jindal´s comments, there are already several effective means of birth control available over-the-counter. The one type of birth control that both parties are politicizing can be a medical disaster for some people. This has nothing to do with conservatism and, as one poster has already pointed out, we need to quit letting them set the table.

The essence of the problem is not whether the author is an idiot or whether Jindal is a fool or anti-conservative or is giving in to the Marxist POS in DC.

The essence of the problem is why did we lose this last election and how will we hold the line in 2014 and win in 2016.
