Conservatives Rationalize as
America Circles the Drain

American Thinker, by Selwyn Duke

Original Article

It´s often hard to accept the truth, especially when that truth is scary -- when reality seems to offer you no solutions, only poison from which to pick. (snip)Conservatives have always responded to seemingly inevitable political changes by, slowly but surely, compromising their way to tyranny. But rationalization is a huge factor, and what is the scary truth here that conservatives dare not contemplate? They are losing the culture. Little by little. Every day. And as the culture goes, so go political

cant really stomach anyone who votes for da Bushes, Dole, McCain and Romney and then complains about how we are losing our republic.

Anyone who thinks the Republicans are capable of fixing what is broken has not paid much attention to what the Repugs have become since Reagan. No guts no glory.

Listen, folks. We get what/who we deserve. Our prosperity doomed us...as it would any free society intent on making life easier and easier, kinder and kinder, gentler and gentler, fairer and fairer. Politicians simply work the crowds.

FTA: The remaining healthy acorns need to recognize this, stop trying to fertilize a tree destined for the sawmill, and instead prepare to seed new ground.

So what exactly is this "new ground" Duke refers to? I read and reread this article and still not sure what the point is.

The point is that everything wrong in our society is the fault of ´certain´ republicans.

The left is blamed for nothing. It´s always our fault.

After the election we heard nothing but trashing of Romney. Not much against the evil doer who won the election.

Mr. Duke fails to reach his usual standard of clarity in this article.

The hard truth is that the root of our present evil is the near complete collapse of our educational system. Beginning around 1900, the progressives (aka. democrats) purposefully suborned the educational establishment, first at the university level and today filtering down to the indoctrination of pre-schoolers.

A nation that willfully erases its own history and ethos - its cultural and ethical heritage - is doomed.

So-called conservatives and so-called patriotic american parents continue to tolerate the psychotically socialist agenda of the NEA in their local schools and continue to send their children to the advanced anti-american training camps of the Ivy League and most other public universities.

Lincoln was right: The education of today is the politics of tomorrow.

The specter of a modern long range jumbo jet suddenly falling from the sky with no distress call suggests horrific causes. (snip)There are only a few possible causes of the sudden disappearance of a modern airliner. None are comforting: Some kind of equipment malfunction that completely preoccupied the crew and led to a sudden crash. This almost never happens, but did occur in the case of Air France 447 lost in the South Atlantic on the way from Rio de Janeiro to Paris, when ice crystals apparently led to the auto pilot shutting off, and crew mistakes coping with the situation

Barack Obama´s parents were "married in name only," according to David Maraniss´s 2012 Barack Obama: The Story. But since definitions of an "in name only" marriage vary, such as "a marriage of convenience" or "a sexless marriage," and Maraniss failed to explain his claim, it is unclear what he was implying. Therefore, Obama´s oft-told nativity story must be searched for the full implications of Obama´s parents´ "in name only" marriage. One of the pillars of liberal social engineering is the belief that subsidies permitting poor people to move into nicer neighborhoods helps improve their life prospects. The multi-billion dollar Section 8 rent voucher program is premised on this notion, providing taxpayer funding for poor people to rent apartments in buildings and neighborhoods that house wealthier people.(snip) But a new large study funded by the federal government (who else?) has discovered that moving poor boys into richer neighborhoods is so disruptive that its effects are like those of PTSD

Lois Lerner did not flinch from using the IRS to persecute conservative citizens groups and corrupt the 2012 election. Once again she has taken the Fifth rather than come clean to Congress about what the IRS did to squelch the Tea Party and others, and who ordered it. President Obama brazenly lies to Bill O’Reilly’s face and says there’s not a smidgeon of scandal. This is an unrepentant crew. Obama is channeling Clinton’s famous hair-splitting on whether oral sex is sex. It all depends how you define scandal. Since Democrats believe they have the right to use the IRS to persecute

Vladimir Putin isn’t the Easter Bunny. On the other hand, he isn’t Joseph Stalin. It takes a truly fevered imagination to see Russian forces in the Crimea as a prelude to Russian tanks rolling across Europe toward Berlin and Paris. Putin is a power player who cares more about Russia’s national interests, and Russian minorities in his near abroad, than in that mythical force known as world opinion. Would that America had a president who cared more about our interests than in promoting globalism and the left’s social agenda. The Crimea’s population is 60% ethnic Russian. Beltway folk hold silly notions. Hillary is deemed formidable, and Republicans should hope she does not win the Democrat nomination in 2016. I disagree. Hillary is a weak candidate for president, and if she is nominated, she will lose the general election. Consider four aspects of a Hillary candidacy in the general election: (1) foreign policy, (2) domestic policy, (3) candidate appeal. The sole executive experience of Hillary in her life has been as Obama’s secretary of state. During those years, she did nothing but leave a dreadful legacy for America

So, Lois Lerner still won´t talk about her role in the illegal targeting and harassment by the IRS of conservative and Tea Party groups seeking 501(c)(4) tax exemptions. Lerner appeared for a second time Wednesday before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and claimed her Fifth Amendment right not to incriminate herself. Via Matt Lewis, here’s Maverick once again demonstrating that “cordial relationship” in politico-speak means “two people who can’t publicly admit to hating each other but obviously do.” And it’s a cheap shot. Cruz’s point yesterday at CPAC was that Dole, McCain, and Romney lost because they weren’t conservative enough. That’s not because they’re gutless — he said specifically that they were “good” and “decent” men — but because they’re not committed, full-throated ideologues, even less so when they’re fighting for purple states in a national election. We can debate whether that’s true but there’s nothing offensive in raising the subject.

What’s been said of confession — that it is good for one’s soul but bad for one’s reputation — can also be true of testifying to Congress, so Lois Lerner has chosen to stay silent. Hers, however, is an eloquent silence. The most intrusive and potentially most punitive federal agency has been politicized; the IRS has become an appendage of Barack Obama’s party. Furthermore, congruent with exhortations from some congressional Democrats, it is intensifying its efforts to suffocate groups critical of progressives, by delaying what once was the swift, routine granting of tax-exempt status. So, the IRS, far from repenting

One of the most seismic changes in American politics over the last decade has been the emergence of a sharp generational split among the electorate. The Democratic Party owes its success in the last two presidential elections almost entirely to overwhelming support among the very young, which has overcome continued conservatism among older voters. The Pew Research Institute has dominated the field of exploring the ideological cleavages among different generations. And its latest survey shows again how the liberalism of the youngest voting cohort, millennials, remains firm, and likely to continue to recast the electorate. A few charts from the survey
