Barack Obama gave a fine speech Sunday night to a stunned and shocked nation. He is a born orator backed by a flawless machine, whose personal rise from a difficult childhood is a true inspiration, and whose achievement in breaking the ultimate color barrier is gift to us all. People like the idea that Obama is president. As a politician and president, he has only one failing -- he is the wrong man at the wrong time to be leading this country. He is out of sync with his age and its crises. There is more proof every day --
I watched his speech in NewTown....and I did not believe him. It was almost as though he was at the wrong funeral grieving the wrong victim. And his outrageous claim that the price for liberty was the slaughter of these innocent people, and he was no longer willing to pay that price, made my jaw drop. He was no comfort and, once again, proved that he is just not up to the job. Wonder what the people hit by Sandy thought of his performance?
How do we reconcile that saccharine speech with his THREE votes to kill those innocent infants who somehow survive an abortion? This is the man who ridiculed Special Olympians and who said he didn´t want his daughters ´punished with a baby´. Has that unfeeling man vanished and been replaced with a man of sensitive feelings? I think not.
I´ll never understand why this man is so often referred to as a great orator! I thought after the slaughter on Friday that he needed a new speech-writer; think of President Reagan reading Peggy Noonan´s words after the space launch disaster--it was beautiful and comforting. Obama´s is flat and halting, a completely phony reaction. As for his ridiculous shout-out at Fort Hood... Everything is political posturing.
I agree with #7. While normal people´s hearts went out to those grieving families Obama saw an opportunity to snatch some more power. It is true irony when you are convinced that the people who voted for you and fawn over you must truely be morons.
I can tell you that he does indeed ´inspire´ many who heard him. A wonderful Christian woman cried to me how wonderful Obama´s speech was and how he cried for the little children. Yes, she is black but very intelligent usually. I am no longer surprised that Obama won the election. Most people are in spiritual darkness, and the rest are in self imposed darkness. Even many who have believed will fall away as the end times approach. Not for us to be concerned. Just live, love and tell others about Jesus.
I pay no attention to speeches especially when I have a person´s actions by which to judge them. Anita Dunn specifically said they use Obama on tv to get you to only think about and talk about what you´re seeing on tv. Rather than the horrible things he´s doing off camera. Further, I´m free to be sickened by anyone who frames an article with the statement that Obama is a great orator. This is a lie. He is a teleprompter reader with a deep voice. That´s all. Anyone who weeps at his speeches is a fool and is being played.
That´s why I am eager to go over the cliff. We need to pay till it hurts and then have him come back and say he needs still more because the US produces so much energy and product per person and we need to help other countries.
Oh, and we need to get involved in non-actions in other countries to replace the tyrants who shoot rebelling citizens with religious tyrannies that will behead the non-believers.
This Chicago disturbed dork is not my president. The voters that count elected Mitt Romney. Obama is an aberration that is doing immeasurable damage to America and the futures of our children. The Democrat Party and the MSM should be held accountable for what they have done. They pose a bigger threat to America than all Islamic nut jobs combined. I will despise them forever.

I am listening to ´Atlas Shrugged on audio book during my commute. Occasionally I find myself wondering if the CD has ended and the top of the hour news is in its place? Then I am forced to wonder why the politicians keep making the wrong choices when fac. Finally, I have remeber that their decisions are consistent with the flawed decisions of the electorate. Oh well, ´Who is John Galt?´
This is an excellent article and the liberals should be challenged much more about this. Liberals are like a swarm of insects. They support policies that destroy their state or nation and then move to a place that has been controlled by conservatives and hence is still prosperous and introduce the same destructive policies there, so the cycle repeats. The USA is an example of this on the world stage. It has been prosperous because it has been governed by conservative policies and people were coming from around the world to be here. Now it is being transformed and policies introduced which will impoverish it. The problem is where will people who want opportunity and prosperity go now?

Sorry, posted from my tablet. Should have read ´wrong choices when faced with a clear option of right vs wrong?´
It´s a great article and on the mark but what´s the point. The obvious failure of progressive policies has been pointed out over and over. The problem is that the majority of the electorate doesn´t want to hear the truth or is too stupid to understand it. Lecturing morons about economics is a waste of time. We have to find a way to reach them that they will respond to, almost at a primal level. Frankly, I don´t know if that´s possible.
Ann Coulter nailed it when she said that "0bama is god to the Godless". It is the only explanation possible for why so many people think that his emotionless, empty, halting orations are so breathtakingly brilliant. Combine that with hearty doses of black racism and white guilt and self loathing and it´s perfect recipe for the fast-worsening, Hellish nightmare we continue to endure.
So glad to see this is a Must Read. Every Republican in Congress and their staffs should receive a copy of this article.
Thank you #3 for correcting #2. #4 is exactly correct "He was no comfort and, once again, proved that he is just not up to the job. Wonder what the people hit by Sandy thought of his performance?"
I do believe that color is going to become less relevant very soon, because Obama and his thugs in his administration, the Congressional Black Caucus, black entertainers, and progressive have overplayed their hand. It has worn very thin with people who work hard to earn a decent living in order to have a comfortable home and to save some money for some things they hope to have in the future.
Thank goodness Governor Snyder signed the Right-to-Work bill into law in Michigan. Maybe, just maybe, the beautiful state of Michigan will have a chance to recover from the decades of union dictatorship.
I´m with #11 - not a great orator by a long shot - no feeling and quite wooden! The only oratorial thing he has going for him is that upward gaze of destiny as captured in his election logo. Obama the Great. President for the Ages.
I can neither look at or listen to this man. America has gone probably forever. There is no principle, edict or doctrine that teaches that the ability to emote overrides basic Biblical values and yet America operates almost entirely as if there were.
The meat of the article comes after the word "Mysteriously" in the last two paragraphs. The Repub leadership continues to waste opportunities to call the communist in chief on his failed policies. Of course The Bamster gets away with his agenda-no one is stopping him.
I.e. I still don´t understand why we allowed him and his wife to blow 1.4 billion dollars on fun and entertainment last year. Who is authorizing this money? Don´t the "cut spending" republicans control the gov´t purse strings???
Explaining the facts to the Great American Public doesn´t work, has never worked, and will never work. Civicly, most of them are still stuck in their sophomore year in in high school, and approach elections with the same mindset they did back then: they vote for the most "cool", the "most popular" and the "most likely to succeed", with looks and reputation the biggest determiners of how they vote.
Wishful thinking and a desire to think of themselves as "nice" and "caring" determines their choice of politicians and policies, and practicality and reality be damned.
It is regrettable that people, although capable of reason, do not reason well (or sometimes employ reason at all). No reasoning person could possibly believe Zippy. Those things which he promise do not happen. Why trust someone who has deceived you in the past? "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." He promised prompt assistance to the victims of Sandy. Well? It has not happened. He promised to close Guantanamo. Not. I could go on. Believe this guy at your own risk!
I personally don´t listen to Obozo no matter where or what the occasion. Sunday, I was watching the football game when they cut away. I immediately started channel suffering and to my surprise, there was the game being shown on CNBC while Obozo was mouthing off everywhere else.
As for those who voted for Obozo, the overwhelming majority of them where those who receive the largest chunk of federal freebees. And they are not about to let someone else come in and stop the gravy train. It´s that simple. That´s why so many of them stay where they are. Those who actually want jobs and fend for themselves are moving to red states where there are a lot more choices, including said jobs. Sooner or later, those bastions of liberalism are going to collapse. Then wait for the wailing and gnashing of teeth. It will be horrendous.
#7 You reminded me that after the Fort Hood masacre , Former president Bush and his wife quietly and without fanfare immediately visited with and comforted the survivors. You would never see that from this narcesist. Every thing is all about him. Did he have TOTUS at Newtown?
The Gettysburg speech was at once the shortest and the most famous oration in American history...the highest emotion reduced to a few poetical phrases. Lincoln himself never even remotely approached it. It is genuinely stupendous. But let us not forget that it is poetry, not logic; beauty, not sense. Think of the argument in it. Put it into the cold words of everyday. The doctrine is simply this: that the Union soldiers who died at Gettysburg sacrificed their lives to the cause of self-determination – that government of the people, by the people, for the people, should not perish from the earth. It is difficult to imagine anything more untrue. The Union soldiers in the battle actually fought against self-determination; it was the Confederates who fought for the right of their people to govern themselves.
To those for whom emotion rules all, #9 is right. Otherwise fine people were moved.
But think about the context of what Obama was saying, and it is this ... read the sharply insightful understanding of Mencken above.
If you don´t understand the point, you´re The Problem.
He personifies the words, “there’s no there there.” It’s no wonder that from his very first day on the job, he spared no expense or energy in concealing who he really was and still is. “A fine speech?” “A born orator?” Sorry, Noemie Emery, but no sale! He’s a performer. Just as a singer sings, a dancer dances, a juggler juggles and a comic cracks jokes, he performs. Allegedly, in some circles most suspiciously, enough susceptible voters have invited him to stay on stage for a second act. Now virtually unencumbered, he embarks upon his four year finale. Think he’s changed your country from the way you remember it? You ain’t seen nothin’ yet!
Was it Higgins or Col. Pickering who said, "By George, she´s got it!" ?
Unfortunately, it was obvious that this was the state of play and the sheeple voted for Fauxbama anyway. You might even forgive the first election, but you can´t forgive the second. His ideas are simply disastrous. The next POTUS will have a huge hole from which to begin his or her administration. Jimmy Carter sleeps peacefully; he is no longer the worst president ever.
Cant stand the Marxist Kenyan Alinsky-loving transcript-hiding phony liar nor his kooky Chewbacca Mooch wife. Nor his VP, that demented idiot Bite-me Biden. Nor his Sec. of State, that PIAPS Liar. Nor his Commie Cabinet. Nor his spokesperson idiot liar Carney. None of ´em! They´re all worthless! Give me back the country I defended in the late 60´s, this place we live in now really sucks!
I disagree with #14 on the idea "we need to pay till it hurts." We are already hurting. It´s time for Obama to pay till it hurts, for destroying the greatest country in the world, America! Why do you think he´s spent millions hiding who he is?
This foreign usurper has hijacked our nation and foisted the banner of Marxism. He IS the enemy, along with the new Democrat Party, and their propaganda media. Communism is well entrenched. We have paid too much already.
Obama is the wrong man to lead our country at a-n-y-t-i-m-e!! Also, he is not the first person to `rise from a difficult childhood`. Millions have and millions don`t want to trash our Constitution because of it. He has been summarily brainwashed into the marxist ideology during his upbringing. That can only be characterized as child abuse, but the harm has been done and we are paying for it.
Well, the morons voted in bigger numbers than we did. We are stuck with him for four more years unless any of us can figure out how to make him disappear legally.
The sight of him makes me sick and listening to him just doesn´t happen. My mute button is worn out. Now I avoid what he says and does with great care.
Frankly my brain is worn out from trying to think of ways that will turn people´s brains from mush to the thinking organ that God intended it to be. It´s an impossible task, but surely someone has a few ideas that will turn the morons into normal people again. We have lost the propganda war for now. If someone actually thought that speech from Newtown was comforting and worthwhile there is no hope for us as a nation. We are truly livining in an alternate universe.
Bunch of idiots not seeing what correct usage of commie/fascist playbook is doing to this country. These guys, I mean leftist radicals, they have learned from marx/lenin/mao/hitler (add castro, alinsky, etc) teachings. Our conservatives are in complete oblivion to that. Not one step in the last 15-20 years was done right. They, GOP, allowed the radicals obtain 100% control of the mainstream media, banks, education (maybe Wall Street). And what conservatives produced? Krauthammer, Rush, Hannity and Reince Priebus! To what publication can we write to the editor comments like we do here, on Lucianne? So the independents and liberals can read it. Nowhere!
he is the wrong man at the wrong time to be leading this country. He is out of sync with his age and its crises. There is more proof every day And that will make a difference to the majority of voters because...? Republicans should run on the facts, and against the proven failures that Obama´s ideas produce when put into effect. News flash girlfriend, the Republicans are too busy bravely falling down, rolling over and soiling themselves whenever a leaf falls off a tree, someone coughs, a car door slams, EdChrisWolf calls them extremists, Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi whispers Boo in their ears or Obama gives them a stern look. See? There´s just no time at all for the GOP to run on facts and against proven failures.
My Great Grandfather and his two brothers fought at Gettysburg. Unfortunately the Union they fought to save turned out to be not worth saving. Øbama and the Demrats have seen to that. Number 37 is quite correct.
For the frighteningly long period of socialist sufferings ahead, it´s time to look at Dr Paul Fick´s alarming new book, THE DESTRUCTIVE PRESIDENT, all about the raging vindictive individual now operating in the White House. Read a few descriptive pages: www.destructivepresident.com It´s the unresolved aspects of this persons anger we all need to know more about. Remember Paul M Fick PhD, he wrote the best seller a few years back THE DYFUNCTIONAL PRESIDEnT about another case, Slick Willie.
Pop quiz. With whom is the U.S. presently at war? At any other time in our nation’s history most Americans could have readily answered that question. Great Britain. Mexico. Spain. Germany. North Korea. North Vietnam. Iraq. Even college students who couldn’t name the vice president or their state’s governor would know who their non-college-material buddies were being sent overseas to kill or be killed by. These days the world is a bit more complicated. There are the easy answers: the Taliban. Al Qaeda. Then the waters get a bit murky. One might justifiably ask if America is at war with Syria,
Sandra Fluke keeps sending me e-mails. Okay, these e-mails don’t actually contain the type of Weiner-esque Democratic electronic solicitations that are suitable for disclosure only on “The Dirty.” But her messages could be considered provocative. In her latest e-mail, she said she wants me to meet her for a “chat” in San Francisco. Actually, her e-mails are all about money. With a pretentiousness so blatant it’s entertaining, Fluke is trying to convince me to give money to Democratic candidates. Political fundraising is a permanent exercise and, obviously, lists are not always properly culled.
Life in Maine, where Stephen King has spent most of his adult years, requires long drives down country roads, time that King, whose mind is restless, likes to fill by listening to books on tape. In the ’80s, however, he sometimes could not find the books he wanted on tape — or maybe he just did not bother. He had three children: Naomi, Joe and Owen. They could read, couldn’t they? All King had to do was press record. Which is how his school-age children came to furnish their father, over the years, with a small library’s worth of books
John Kerry says he can get an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement within nine months that would lead to an independent Palestinian state. That’s ambitious to be sure, but Kerry’s optimism raises a key question: With Syria torn by civil war, Egypt in the midst of a meltdown that may lead to another Arab civil war, and the Iranian nuclear program still the region’s major strategic threat, why is the secretary of state pushing the Israeli-Palestinian peace process? Perhaps with everyone else in the region tied down fighting for vital interests or mere survival, John Kerry imagines he has a unique opportunity
Texas has done a lot of good for this country: the King Ranch and Texas-style chili. Dr. Pepper and the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders. Rick Perry and Ted Cruz. Patrick Swayze. Texas also gave America Sheila Jackson Lee. So let’s call it even. Since 1995, Jackson Lee (D.) has represented Texas’s 18th congressional district, which comprises much of inner-city Houston. Now at least one group on Capitol Hill is eyeing her for higher office: The Congressional Black Caucus is recommending that Jackson Lee replace Janet Napolitano as secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
Several Republicans have become concerned recently about the possibility of intensified intra-party fighting over the effort to defund Obamacare. The topic came up Wednesday when GOP Sen. Ted Cruz, a leader in the defunding effort, appeared on Laura Ingraham’s radio program. At about 6:30 in the interview, Ingraham asked Cruz about the phrase “surrender caucus” that some have used to describe the Republicans who oppose the defunding effort. Cruz told Ingraham that he has never used the phrase himself to describe his opponents in the defunding debate. Cruz explained that his chief of staff, Chip Roy, did use the phrase,
To compete with those indelible images of Anthony Weiner’s erect penis, the New York City mayoral campaign now has new mental picture: the slutbag. That’s what Weiner spokeswoman Barbara Morgan called an intern with the campaign who had quit and written a tell-all for the New York Daily News. Olivia Nuzzi described the campaign as a adrift, Morgan as unqualified, and fellow interns as only taking on the assignment to get in good with Weiner wife and Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin. And that’s not all Morgan called Nuzzi in a conversation with a reporter for Talking Points Memo
President Barack Obama is planning to bypass congressional Republicans with a surge of executive actions and orders on issues like voting rights, health care, job creation, the economy, climate change and immigration. And this time, he really, really, really means it. Really. Obama’s started to sell his pitch to congressional Democrats, meeting with caucus groups at the White House and going to the Hill on Wednesday morning to speak with House and Senate Democrats. “I have to figure out what I can do outside of Congress through executive actions,” Obama told the Congressional Black Caucus earlier this month,
Voter identification laws have Democrats up in arms. One of the reasons, as Nate Cohn illustrated last week, is that they disproportionately affected non-white and Democratic voters in North Carolina. This effect, however, only would have padded Romney´s lead in the state by 0.5pt to 0.8pt. In other words, it would only have made a difference in the tightest of elections, and North Carolina isn´t close to being the state that determines the winner in presidential elections. If Democrats want to be upset about something, they should turn their attention to felon and ex-felon voting restrictions.
A nthony Weiner´s mayoral campaign has imploded. But before a raft of new revelations about Weiner´s post-Congress sexting misadventures, he had a real chance of becoming the next mayor of New York City. In the meantime, Eliot Spitzer — Weiner´s fellow New Yorker, whose fall from grace was also well-documented — still has a good shot at becoming the city´s next comptroller. Despite their baggage, both men began their campaigns with a headstart on the competition. That headstart was provided not because they showed an aptitude for success in their previous political positions.
CLEVELAND – Three women held captive in a run-down home for a decade kept diaries documenting the horrific physical and sexual abuse they suffered on a daily basis, prosecutors said Wednesday. The women´s kidnapper, Ariel Castro, lured one of them into his Cleveland home with the promise of a puppy for her son and later locked all of them in a vehicle in his garage for three days when someone visited him, prosecutors said. Castro, a former school bus driver, claimed he didn´t have an exit strategy from his complicated double life and finally gave the women
WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama´s national security team acknowledged for the first time Wednesday that, when investigating one suspected terrorist, it can read and store the phone records of millions of Americans. Since it was revealed recently that the National Security Agency puts the phone records of every American into a database, the Obama administration has assured the nation that such records are rarely searched and, when they are, officials target only suspected international terrorists. Meanwhile, at a hacker convention in Las Vegas on Wednesday, the head of the NSA said government methods used to collect telephone
FORNEY, Texas - George Zimmerman, the former Florida neighborhood watch leader cleared of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, was pulled over for speeding in North Texas on Sunday, CBS DFW reports. According to the station, Zimmerman was armed when officers pulled him over on Highway 80 in Forney, east of Dallas. (Snip) The officer reportedly did not recognize Zimmerman, who was driving a Honda pickup. Zimmerman told the officer he was armed and was then told to put the weapon in his glove compartment, according to the station.
Arizona Sen. John McCain was the Republican Party´s 2008 presidential nominee and he still wants the keys to the Oval Office. But he is beginning to sound more like a fan of likely 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. "She´s a rock star," he said in a newly released interview. "She has, maybe not glamour, but certainly the aura of someone widely regarded throughout the world," he added in a reference to her work as secretary of State. McCain, reportedly trying to win back his reputation as a GOP maverick, was asked by the New Republic
President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that
Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.
Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,
Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.
The former commander of special operations in Northern Africa told a closed-door briefing today that he was largely detached from events the night of the Benghazi attack as he was traveling at the time. The testimony of Col. George H. Bristol, USMC, Former Commander, Joint Special Operations Task Force-Trans Sahara, Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command Africa, had been eagerly anticipated by members of Congress. Originally, lawmakers had been told by the Defense Department that he had retired — the actual date is Aug. 1, an “administrative error” according to the Pentagon — and that they didn’t have
In an interview on National Public Radio (NPR), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her new agenda for women will give mothers access to day care so they can “earn without carrying the burden of child care.” During the interview, aired on Weekend Edition Sunday, Pelosi spoke about her newly announced agenda, which is on her website, and is titled, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families,” a plan that includes universal pre-school and access to day care for working women, and an increase in the minimum wage.
Karl Rove and more than one hundred Republican donors sent a letter to Republican members of Congress on Tuesday, urging them to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would include, among other provisions, granting "legal status" to illegal aliens who meet certain criteria. Anticipating that lawmakers will face resistance to the bill when they go home for the August recess, the letter marks the escalation of a campaign in which Republican leaders and donors are pressuring House Republicans to act on an immigration reform bill.
Mark Levin, who hosts one of America´s top radio talk shows and is considered by supporters to be the people´s pundit on the Constitution, is rallying his 8.5 million-strong audience to demand an historic convention of state governments to halt the "oppressive power" of the federal government. The author of two New York Times bestsellers on the threats to the Constitution, Levin hopes his latest, "The Liberty Amendments," out mid-August, will spark the state lawmakers to tap a rarely used Constitutional provision to institute measures that would brake President Obama´s use of executive orders, bar thousand-page laws and
No matter how much you may hope for it, it seems unlikely that you´ll be using the phrase "Senator Sarah Palin" with any great regularity in 2015. A new poll indicates that the former Alaska governor is about as popular in the state as Barack Obama — which is to say, not very popular at all. But even more surprising, while the former vice presidential candidate has made Alaska a central part of her public image, the state´s residents split on the question of whether Palin is all that Alaskan. Conducted by Public Policy Polling,
In her first speech since taking over the Environmental Protection Agency, Gina McCarthy came out swinging Tuesday and promised to ramp up the aggressive climate change agenda laid out by President Obama.(snip)“Can we stop talking about environmental regulations killing jobs? Please, at least for today,” she said during remarks at Harvard Law School. “We need to cut carbon pollution to grow jobs. We need to cut carbon pollution to strengthen the economy. Let’s talk about it positively. Let’s approach this as an opportunity of a lifetime. There are too many lifetimes at stake.”
