Bob Schieffer: If Sandy Hook
Shooter Had Arab Name, ‘People
Would Be Going Nuts’

Mediaite, by Andrew Kirell

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 12/18/2012 10:11:44 AM

During a Sunday morning panel discussion on the potential political impact of Friday’s massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn., CBS Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer put forth the idea that if the shooter had an Arab name, people would be much more inclined to revamp public policy to address such gun violence, much like how government fundamentally changed its role after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Schieffer’s comment came in response to panel guest James Peterson suggesting that addressing the “proliferation of guns” in America “should be a new front in the ‘War on Terror.’”

Comments:
Unbelievable. Was that really necessary?? As if people aren´t "going nuts" now. I note that Schieffer didn´t mention why 0bama did not include the murders at Fort Hood in his speech when he itemized the tragedies that have happened in this nation. Political correctness will always rule.

I think many an old respected newsman are turning in their graves now. The so called professional journalism news media has lost all sense and sensibility. Public figures as such should know better than to fan the flames of public anger and angst. Sadly this is how civil wars start. I dont want to have to live through a civil war. I just want to live my life. Please people think with your heads and not your glands.

First thought that came to mind, OP.

"Nidal Hassan" --do you think many of the euphemistically labeled "low information voters" remember? --or... dare i say, with sadness and disgust... do they care?

We need the telephone numbers, email addresses etc of all of these Dem/leftie propagandists, and we need to start letting them know that all of them are all mini-me Naked Emperors.

If the shooter had an Arab name, the corrupt media wouldn´t even have named him yet. And they wouldn´t have criticized Islam which tells followers to kill ´infidels´, like they have criticized the NRA and gun owners.

CT had tough gun laws.

The shooter was denied purchase of gun 1 week before.

School was gun-free zone

School didn´t allow shooter onto the campus - he broke in.

Guns were legally owned by shooters mother whom was killed by her son to obtain the guns.

ACLU didn´t allow CT to have state ability to institutionalize shooter, or allow the mother that ability.

Typical preemptive hypocrisy from the inveterate propagandist... If the shooter had an Arab name and shouted jihadi phrases during the shooting, then the news media would be trying their best to distract everybody´s attention from it. And a new crisis or controversy, whether true or wholly fabricated, would soon push it out of the MSM headlines.

Either Bob´s piece of bullpelosi here is deliberate (propaganda) or delusional (hallucination). Either way, he ought to be removed from reporting duties, and -- if nature hasn´t done it already for him -- disconnected from the ongoing gene pool (testectomies, if you will).

When someone actually asks this idiot a tough question, he immediately goes on the ´I didn´t hear anything about that,´ defense. Pleading ignorance for this lying sack of stones is a pretty good move. I can´t think of anyone less informed about anything than this decrepit liar.

Reply 17 - Posted by: JLoophole, 12/18/2012 11:28:35 AM     (No. 9072606)

Not sure what the difference is, Bob. Anyone who goes into a school and kills 26 people is in my book a terrorist. I don´t care what his name is or what his religion is. I condemn Adam Lanza´s act in exactly the same way I condemn the acts of a bomb-wearing jihadist. I condemn the fact that he was allowed access to guns at all.

Now, maybe you might want to ask the harder question: Why did you say that in the first place? Why are people with Arab names stereotyped as terrorists?

Although we like to joke about it and call liberals mentally ill, many of us, e.g. me, don´t mean that literally. But comments like Schieffer´s and others recently make me begin to wonder. Maybe there IS something organically wrong with their reasoning abilities. But there are too many of them to label them insane. Sometimes it seems there are more of THEM than US.

Then one remembers Oscar Wilde´s epigram, which probably contains as much wisdom as we can ever hope to attain in such matters: In all matters of opinion, our adversaries are insane. It seems to be the human condition.

Calls that Republicans must “move to the center” reach a fever pitch every time the party loses a major election. No doubt the GOP needs to do a better job of appealing to women, younger voters and Hispanics, but it need not shed its principles. The media trope that the Republican Party is a “Star Wars” bar scene of theocrats and religious zealots by now has become a threadbare cliche. The Huffington Post said after the 2012 elections that the GOP resembles “a rump parliament of Caucasian traditionalism: white, married, churchgoing — to oversimplify only slightly.”

A federal judge on Wednesday dismissed a lawsuit by immigration agents who challenged the Obama administration’s program that gives a reprieve from deportation to undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as minors. U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor, who earlier this year had expressed agreement with the agents’ contention that the deferred deportation program undermined their duty to enforce the law, said on Wednesday that it was not within his court’s jurisdiction to decide on what essentially is a dispute between federal employees and their employer, the U.S. government. President Obama implemented the program, called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA

WASHINGTON — If the Democrats are the Party of Treason, then the Republicans are the Party of Ingratitude. Tuesday night on Fox News, in a rare interview, Rush Limbaugh said the Republican Party establishment does not like the tea party because they cannot control the tea party. The Republican ingratitude towards the tea party gets even worse. John McCain, in an interview reported on yesterday in The Washington Times, said the tea party was damaging the Republican Party. Maybe the Republican Party needs some damaging. Perhaps it is time to remind McCain of a little history.

The thoroughly entertaining back and forth that erupted this week between New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has captured the media’s attention and focused the political mind on 2016 like nothing has since the night President Barack Obama won reelection. It is hard not to view the two GOP officeholders’ heated war of words in the media through the prism of the Republican presidential primaries. Many conservatives have become so disillusioned with Christie, though, that they recoil at the thought of nominating him to be the party’s next presidential nominee.

Under Hadi’s leadership, relations between the U.S. and Yemen have improved dramatically, Obama said, as the Yemeni people have worked to “produce a constitution and transition to a fully democratic government.” Obama also gave Hadi credit for cooperating with the U.S. on countering terrorism in the region and for helping to curtail al Qaeda’s influence in Yemen.

If we learned anything about Barack Obama in his first term it is that when he starts repeating the same idea over and over, what´s on his mind is something else. The first term´s over-and-over subject was "the wealthiest 1%." Past some point, people wondered why he kept beating these half-dead horses. After the election, we knew. It was to propagandize the targeted voting base that would provide his 4% popular-vote margin of victory—very young voters and minorities. They believed. He won.
