| WASHINGTON — The long-awaited independent report on the killing of the US ambassador to Libya and three other Americans will be presented to the State Department today, according to reports. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton created the Advisory Review Board to investigate the Sept. 11 attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, which killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens.

J. David Kuo, an evangelical Christian conservative and former top official of President George W. Bush’s faith-based initiative who drew wide attention when he publicly accused the administration of failing to live up to the values it espoused, died April 5 in Charlotte. He was 44.He was diagnosed a decade ago with brain cancer, his wife, Kimberly, said. The arc of Mr. Kuo’s life and career had taken him from liberal to conservative, from hard-edged Republican activism in the 1990s to disillusionment with the idea that politics could serve as an extension of his faith.

Like most of you, I yearn for shorter winters, more shirt-sleeve weather, less lashing from frigid winds. As a confirmed New Yorker, I’m not willing to do what millions have done: move to the sunbelt. I want warmer weather here in the Big City.But I’ve grown old waiting for the promised global warming. I was 35 when predictions of a looming ice age were supplanted by warmmongering. Now I’m 68, and there’s still no sign of warmer weather. It’s enough to make one doubt the “settled science” of the government-funded doom-sayers.

Shain Gandee was among three men found dead in a vehicle Monday in the Sissonville area of West Virginia — about 31 hours after he and his uncle, David, had been reported missing. David, 48, and Shain, 21, told people they were going four-wheeling in Shain’s 1984 Ford Bronco, at about 3 a.m. Sunday at Larry’s Bar in Sissonville, the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department reported Monday morning. The third man found dead in the vehicle who has not yet been identified, according to press reports.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs.
