Obamacare and My Daughter
PJ Media, by Justin Binik-Thomas

Original Article

Elections have consequences. The president signed a law which forces citizens to purchase a product simply on the virtue that they are alive. Our Supreme Court upheld the law, giving the government the power to tax inactivity. When the law is fully implemented, we may see a shift from our role as citizens to subjects. Instead of “pay for play,” it will become “pay, if you play our way.” We are moving slowly down this path, and can begin to see the cliff before us. Still, there is time to slow the process and change course.

The endless gush of additional rules and regulations CAUSED by the initial legislation is the purpose of the whole exercise. The Dictator needs to be arbitrary and contradictory and changeable and even whimsical in his proclamations or else it´s really no fun being the Dictator.

Unfortunately, the Repubs eem to be standing on the sidelines, howling about each and everything that Zippy and his henchmen do, yet doing nothing about it when they have the chance, other than allow it to occur and continue.

They are complicit ion every problem this nation faces today. It is time to remove them all, dissolve thenGOP, and see the birth of a new party that believes in the principles of our founding fathers. Maybe it´s the Libetarians, or maybe it is a new party, but the GOP is never going to recover the support they burned in the 2012 election, and that Boehner will finish as he caves on raising taxes and fixing nothing.

Criminal losers all.

Warnings were out there and you didn´t have to search for them. I spoke to an untold number of people--every chance I had. I wasn´t popular with a lot of them. And I have a friend who passed out printed copies of warning articles by reputable writers. I wonder how many Ldotters did the same? Thousands, at least.

People didn´t believe it before the election, they don´t believe it now. It´s going to take too long for the word to spread and for people to believe there´s a serious problem.

All I can suggest is: be kind to your PCP and staff. There will come a time when you need them very badly and showing respect and appreciation will help. At least send a Christmas card. Better would be a box of candy--anything as a token of your appreciation.

I am the mom of two children who were born with birth defects. One child had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. It is 100% fatal if they do not get heart surgery immediately after birth and then there is a heart transplant somewhere in the future. My son died because we didn´t know he had it.

Thanks to strides in heart surgery and promising advances in stem cell research, more children with HLHS are living, but there are none beyond the age of 30 because the technology is still so new. Baby Faye, who in 1984 received the heart of a baboon, was an infant with HLHS.

My daughter, who is now 4, was born with a sacrococcygeal (say-crow-cox-ee-gee-al) teratoma and while hers was relatively simple, there are many children I know who had incredibly complicated ones weighing anywhere up to 5 lbs at birth. About 100 kids in the US are born with these each year. If they can make it to birth....and make it through the surgery, kids with SCT go on to live fairly normal lives.....cont....

....continued from above....

However, some kids do have bowel and bladder issues and a few can have issues with walking. Again, stem cell research has shown a promising future regarding the regrowth or bowels, bladders, and in some cases nerves.

All this is going to stop because of Obamacare. There will be no more innovative research done for conditions such as these because the initial onset is very very costly. For my daughter to have her teratoma removed was around 110K in 2008, not to mention I had to fly to Atlanta from Montana in order to have her there....which was not covered by insurance....we gladly paid that.

Both of my children had conditions where abortion is routinely advised. This will become more and more persistent because there just simply will not be treatment options for children born with these conditions.

It makes me sick.

The House Oversight Committee has voted to hold former IRS subpotentate Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress, while the House Ways and Means Committee has referred her case to the Justice Department for criminal prosecution. The facts in the case suggest very strongly that Ms. Lerner has earned the contempt of the American people as well as criminal prosecution to the full extent of the law. The question of whether Justice will do justice now rests with the Obama administration, in service to which Ms. Lerner organized and oversaw the repression of nonprofit activists under color of IRS authority. A few weeks ago, with no notice, the U.S. government intercepted Mary Grice’s tax refunds from both the IRS and the state of Maryland. Grice had no idea that Uncle Sam had seized her money until some days later, when she got a letter saying that her refund had gone to satisfy an old debt to the government — a very old debt. When Grice was 4, back in 1960, her father died, leaving her mother with five children to raise. When Chief Justice John Roberts rewrote ObamaCare from the bench in order to save it, most of the ramifications were immediately apparent. Having caved to a public intimidation campaign from the president and his congressional allies (as well as the media) Roberts signaled that the way to get a conservative justice to discard his better judgment and rule against constitutional law was to impugn the court’s reputation in the public square. Sen. Mark Begich has said repeatedly that he thinks President Obama is wrong about a host of policies, whether on oil drilling, the military or the environment. Begich also has made it perfectly clear that he has no interest in having his fellow Democrat out to his home state of Alaska, saying earlier this year that he doesn’t “care to have him campaign for me.” But that doesn’t mean he’s not looking for the president’s help. Begich has in fact submitted a long wish list to the Obama administration for agency decisions that he thinks would boost his reelection chances.

Last week, in McCutcheon et al. v. Federal Election Commission, the court began edging away from Buckley by striking down one of its limits on free speech. The details
