Seriously ill baby forced to wait
for 12 hours in A&E because
no suitable bed was available
in all of Britain

Daily Mail [UK], by Jo Macfarlane

A seriously ill baby was forced to wait in an Accident and Emergency ward for more than 12 hours because there were no suitable beds available anywhere in the UK. The shocking case emerged as specialists yesterday warned the Department of Health about a national shortage of intensive care beds for children this winter. The Paediatric Intensive Care Society (PICS) says all 29 units in Britain have been running close to capacity in recent weeks because of a surge in cases of a nasty respiratory virus and that there are several examples of children having to wait for appropriate care.

Comments:
Another problem with universal health care--such a system cannot respond quickly enough to any epidemic, in this case Norovirus. This is the rough equivalent of a baby in Oregon needing a bed and not being able to find one within the state.

This is because every damn bed in Britain was tied up for the NHS´s glorious Olympic extravaganza and the bed-putter-backers have been on strike ever since.

This is the same NHS that intentionally kills 130,000 patients per year of starvation + dehydration + terminal sedation, half of them without the patient´s knowledge or content, or that of their families. Often their next of kin only find that their loved one was put on the "Liverpool Care Pathway" when they discover his or her body in the morgue.

I wouldn´t trust any system that has the words "Natonal" "Health" "Service" in its title. They incentivize death - to free up beds. With the patients´ benefit in mind. Of course.

Efficiency...it´s all about sufficiency. There are enough beds 99% of the time. There is a high price to ensure beds 100% of the time. Lives will be lost, so one manages the losses...targeting the elderly and those with low values as economic units...like welfare recipients, the infirm or handicapped. This is Obamacare.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told House Ways and Means Committee members on Wednesday that she expects health insurance rates to increase as the Affordable Care Act takes full effect. ´I think premiums are likely to go up,´ she conceded under questioning, ´but go up at a slower pace´ than they have already under Obamacare. The Democratic Party is licking its wounds after losing a special election in Florida that turned into a referendum on Barack Obama, suggesting that the president has become an albatross around the necks of congressional candidates--and spelling election doom for November. Election prognosticator Stuart Rothenberg wrote in January that the 13th Congressional District race was one that Democrats ´can´t afford to lose.´ Alex Sink, the losing Democrat, also lost a statewide race for governor in 2016 by a razor-thin margin, but carried the 13th district by 2 percentage points. Obama, too, prevailed there in both of his elections.

David Cameron tonight condemned a "barbaric" missile attack on Israel that struck on the first day of his visit to the country. Militants fired as many as 50 missiles from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel, in the biggest single attack in two years. Israeli tanks responded by firing shells at a suspected launch site within Palestinian territory. The attack came on the day Mr Cameron told the Israeli Parliament he would offer "rock solid" support to Israel in defending itself and condemned "despicable" efforts by Iran to ship missiles to terrorist groups. British Prime Minister David Cameron today made his first visit to Israel as prime minister, delivering an address to the Israeli parliament, the Knesset. Speaking to a fractured crowd following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu´s pushing through of three contentious bills, Cameron said that he "felt a connection with Israel" and said that Britain was integral in "securing a homeland for the Jewish people". Members of the Knesset shouted and heckled Netanyahu as he delivered a speech ahead of Cameron, who initially looked amused at the circumstances as one member was escorted from the chamber. Residents are feared trapped in a Manhattan apartment building that exploded this morning in the East Harlem neighborhood, killing one woman and injuring at least 16 others. A gas leak is suspected of causing the building on the corner of 116th Street and Park Avenue to burst into flames, as residents reported smelling a strange odor to ConEdison right before the blast. Those in the area reported hearing a loud boom and thick black smoke in the area a little after 9am, and some were even evacuated. You have probably seen all of the ridiculous speculating about the GOP nomination in 2016. This is still speculating, but my sincere hope is you don’t think it’s ridiculous too. Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is laying the foundation for his presidential bid in concrete and steel. First, forget about Jeb Bush unless you want to hand Hillary eight years in the White House. The latest Rasmussen poll shows her leading Jeb in a general election 47 percent to 33. His name is Bush and to the general public the specifics of how smart he is doesn’t matter one iota.
