| There is really no possibility of writing about anything this weekend other than the school shooting that occurred on Friday in Newtown, Conn.On the other hand, there is no possibility of writing about the cold-blooded murder of young children in any way that makes sense.Our human psyche, which should be ready for anything based upon the brutal history of our species, still reels in shock and disbelief when pure evil interjects itself into everyday life.There is no way we can wrap our minds around the horror of what has happened.There is no way to comprehend the dreadful last seconds

No - evil does not actually exist. Evil is an absence of good. Evil is not something "balancing" good. Evil is turning away from God who is all good. Men will sin - we will choose to ignore God - this is what causes evil. But God made everything to be good - this is why we have hope even in the face of evil like Adam Lanza slaughtering children.

Good exists just as surely as evil does. Good can be found in the embrace of those important to us. It can be found in beauty and freedom and happiness. In its purest form it is perfect love.
Evil has been surging lately, and it isn´t finished. It can be found in Islam, in corrupt politicians and dictatorial ideologies. It can be found in anger and fear. It targets the weakest among us and induces them to do things like we saw Friday.
Similar to what #2 said, I believe good is that which brings us closer to the divine and evil pushes us away from it. We should try to remember that simple definition and call it up when the negative emotions threaten to overtake us. It has been a tall order the last year or two and it is going to get worse.
Keep the ones you love close. Teach them about good and evil and try to be an example of good. Love whenever you can all you can. Not the phoney "hate the sin but love the sinner" junk either. False love IS evil. Many people call things love that are really something else. Love is a hard concept to define, but once you do things become much clearer.

Evil is too easy a word to throw around in a situation like this. I don´t think evil had anything to do with this. For whatever reason,this kid couldn´t separate fantasy from reality. I´ll bet he had a big problem with rejection which culminated in this obscene outburst.
This country is in a mass psychosis with Obama being president. There´s nothing to grab onto or hope for with him calling the shots. Marxism,communism or whatever other ism,kills the soul and inner person.
Gov´t workers make decent enough money but a poll of them the other day said they were unhappy.Doesn´t surprise me at all. When you take away the merit system,it kills the person off,little by little.Dreams are what keeps people going,when you kill the dream,you kill the person.
The cult of liberalism is what´s evil.Openly supporting abortion and gay marriage are just 2 indicators of how evil these people are. Trying to destroy success,unless you throw bribes at them,is pure evil.The death panels in Obamacare are 100% evil.

A recent letter to the editor got me thinking about the origins of our great country, and how far astray we have gone from the principles enshrined in both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States of America.[SNIP]What was needed was an amendment which both stated plainly its intended goal — to strip the federal government of the power it has grabbed without authority over more than 200 years — and at the same time provided a clear mechanism for restoring America to the principles envisioned by the founders.

Some time ago, a reader presented me with a yellowed newspaper clipping from 1936, which seems to grow more relevant every day.It is a syndicated column by Frank R. They say that justice delayed is justice denied.If that is the case, then surely the families of Harvey Mad Man and Thomas Running Rabbit can rightly complain that there is no justice in Montana.The two men were murdered execution style in 1982 by Ronald Allen Smith, who during his trial confessed to the murder and said he had wanted to know what it felt like to kill someone.He also rejected a plea bargain for life in prison and insisted on the death penalty.[SNIP] Maybe we can learn from the case of Eddie Anderson.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. North Korea’s young leader Kim Jong-un is waiting for United States President Barack Obama to make a phone call to Pyongyang to discuss easing tensions on the Korean peninsula, according to Russia’s news agency Itar-Tass.
