| Washington - A law enforcement official says the attacker in the Connecticut school shootings is a 20-year-old man with ties to the school.The official said that a gun used in the attacks is a .223-caliber rifle. The official also said that New Jersey state police are searching a location in that state in connection with the shootings, said by an official in Connecticut to have left 27 dead, including 18 children. The official in Washington spoke on the condition of anonymity because the source was not authorized to speak on the record about the developing criminal investigation.

my first thought was that the shooting could have come from a domestic custody dispute. then I learned that the shooter was 20 y/o; so while he could be a parent, it´s not likely. THEN I learned that there might be another shooter now in police custody. Now, I´m veering away from domestic and into unknown territory. Into disturbing territory...

Horrible tragedy. I can´t imagine what the parents are going through.
Just like some of the readers have been talking abour racially profiling arab muslims at airport, we need to start racial profiling of young white males in their 20s-30s at all schools and malls.
Search Google for major shootings in the USA… search the shooters name…. there are wackos of every size, shape, color and ethnicity… The school shooters are almost all young white males in their 20’s-30s.
I believe in responsible gun ownership… but too many crazies out there and unfortunately you and I have to put up with the inconvenience …. Just my two cents.

We MUST train teachers like sky marshals, in concealed carry and use. These are the times we live in. Making schools a ´gun free zone´ is fatally delusional. 27 unfortunate souls paid the price today of this pig headed stupidity.

While I can understand the human inclination to want to "profile" out of fear as #4 has pointed out - I am hoping clearer heads prevail.
It seem understandable, the knee jerk sentiment you´ve given us now on several (almost all related) threads....but no, we don´t need racial profiling - not for arabs, whites or anyone else.
We need to drop the idea that "others" can and will be able to protect us at arms length. We need to start adopting a culture who does not tolerate this - and has no problems using force to protect ourselves, including the lives of those we´ve been given custody of and/or responsibility over.
Otherwise, we all live in fear - and for most people - unnecessarily.

The shooter was Adam Lanza, 20, not his older brother Ryan. He shot and killed his mother, who was the kindergarten teacher.

This is an early report which is more honest than later ones... Shooter has ties to school.... Mom is not a teacher; She works at a luxury retirement home.
He shot the principal than psych, before killing babies. Maybe the shooter had some kind of working relationship with the school.
Questions = Why´d mom have such hi powered guns? What was true relationship of shooter to school?

The most intriguing nugget from the big Boston Globe profile of the Tsarnaev Brothers (the brothers suspected of carrying out the Boston Marathon attack) is this one: Gym owner Allan said that Tamerlan had once introduced him to an American, Brendan Mess, whom Tamerlan described as his best friend. Two years ago, Mess and two other men were brutally killed in a Waltham apartment where they were found by police with their throats slit and their bodies covered with marijuana. The murders remain unsolved. Nobody states that there´s a connection, but obviously now everyone´s wondering if there is one.

FOX 25's Bob Ward reported that as many 30 shots were fired in the neighborhood. Ward reported that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the man known as suspect 2, was shot by police. It was not immediately known if Tsarnaev was killed. A bomb squad could be seen responding to the scene. A massive police presence was also in the area. Investigators have now cleared the two men whose pictures were circulated last night in an email among law enforcement officials, sources told The Post today. Authorities determined neither had any information or role in Monday’s attacks at the Boston Marathon. Federal agents on Wednesday arrested a suspect in the mailing of letters to President Barack Obama and a U.S. senator that initially tested positive for the poison ricin. The suspect was identified as Kenneth Curtis of Tupelo, Miss., federal officials told NBC News. Both letters carried an identical closing statement, according to an FBI bulletin obtained by NBC News on Wednesday. According to the FBI bulletin, both letters, postmarked April 8, 2013 out of Memphis, Tenn., included an identical phrase, "to see a wrong and not expose it, is to become a silent partner to its continuance."

So once again, no good deed goes unpunished. Uncle Sam lets another bunch of leeching future terrorists into the country who have absolutely no business being here, gives them “asylum,” making them immediately eligible for welfare, and this is the thanks we get? They turn into mass murderers. We bring in thousands of Muslims from a primitive society that has been battling Christians for centuries, and put them into a peaceful Christian society — what could possible go wrong? We are still speculating about virtually everything right now, but I feel as though I need to explain why I find the quick and easy conversation about Muslims being radicalized in America to be so illogical and laced with bigotry. Of course, there is a global violent jihadist movement, loosely organized, that wants to recruit young men to influence policies at home and abroad and perhaps usher in the global caliphate. That ideology motivates some Muslims to kill innocent people.But you´re allowed to be a radical Muslim in America.
