The law student assassinated on a busy New York City street worked as a drug courier and was assassinated after a large sum of money he was carrying was confiscated by police in California, it was claimed on Thursday. Brandon Woodard, 31, reportedly flew to New York from his home in Los Angeles to try to smooth things over with his angry bosses. Instead, he was coldly executed in Midtown Manhattan in broad daylight on Monday. New York police say they are closing in on the men responsible for Woodard´s death. They have identified the getaway driver

Not really seeing this as a loss to society... strapping the killer down and putting him to sleep pemanently within 3 months of the trial would of course, make it a win - win situation...

Oh well, one can always hope that sanity will eventually return to our society.

Re #5, apparently he was not an affirmative action person. His mother is wealthy, they are from a wealthy family. She probably paid his way into private prep school, Loyola Marymount and law school. He thought he was larger than life. That he could live more than one life. He lost one.

A prominent businesswoman, his mother had shady dealings that caused her business to be shut down.

This is a complex situation. A drug deal gone wrong, involving a lot of money, is the most likely explanation.

I knew a guy from a good family, who had every advantage, who decided to be a drug dealer in high school. Luckily, that was before the big cartels would squash you like a bug, and he straightened up, went to law school and even became head of the local bar association for a term. He always said that if you looked at the old booking cards, in the days before computers, you´d find one on him.

I don´t know if this guy in New York was straightening out or not, but I´m sorry his family has to suffer.

That type of action is unreasonable. Anyone in a high risk activity, whether it be legal or not, should know the possible consequences of some events outside their control. There is more to this story. There is also likely less to the individuals involved. Talk about high motivation and poor management! If the courier had knowledge of his impending death he would have fought it out with the law. I would and I imagine anyone else would too.

The Congressional investigation into whether the Internal Revenue Service targeted conservative groups for persecution ended today on a controversial note after former official Lois Lerner refused to answer questions. The rough day for the investigation followed the release of emails corroborating political targeting of groups. The emails, obtained by the House´s investigative committee, indicated that Lerner, in her official capacity, aimed to target political groups out of concern that the Citizens United ruling would lead to more suspicious or inappropriate tax filings. The ruling repealed much of the 2002 Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act and allowed individuals and political groups to

President Obama held an hour-long phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin Thursday afternoon to discuss the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. Obama emphasized to Putin that Russia’s military incursion into Ukraine´s Crimean peninsula violated the country´s sovereignty, "which has led us to take several steps in response, in coordination with our European partners," Obama said in a White House statement. Obama also outlined a diplomatic solution to the ongoing unrest, which would include direct talks between the Ukraine and Russia governments, ensuring Russian forces return to their bases and installing international monitors to protect the rights of all Ukrainians.

Whenever President Obama has sought to turn up pressure on Republicans on issues important to Latinos, he has found reliable partners in Spanish-language networks Univision and Telemundo. The Denver, Colorado-based chain of Mexican fast-food restaurants threatened to take the condiment off the menu because of the rising price of avocados. While the avocado crop is currently fine, scientists at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory are predicting drier temperatures will lead to a 40 per cent drop in California´s avocado crop over the next 32 years. That precipitated a heated exchange between the committee’s Republican chairman, Darrell Issa, and Democratic ranking member Elijah Cummings, who called the hearings “un-American.” And that spat has become the story. WASHINGTON — Charles G. and David H. Koch, the billionaire brothers who are perhaps the best-known patrons of conservative Republican politics, are bespectacled and in their 70s. They look genial enough. But Democrats are embarking on a broad effort that aims to unmask the press-shy siblings and portray them, instead, as a pair of villains bent on wrecking progressive politics. On Thursday, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is starting a digital campaign that will use Internet ads and videos, as well as social media, to tie Republican Senate candidates to the policies and actions of the Koch brothers. In August 2005, just seven months after his swearing-in, Obama traveled to Donetsk in Eastern Ukraine with then-Indiana Republican Senator Dick Lugar, touring a conventional weapons site. The two met in Kiev with President Victor Yushchenko, making the case that an existing Cooperative Threat Reduction Program covering the destruction of nuclear weapons should be expanded to

Michelle Obama is no stranger to changing up her hairstyle, and it appears she has done it yet again with the addition of honey blonde highlights. The First Lady debuted the new look on Wednesday at the Jessie Trice Community Health Care Center in Miami, where she talked to Affordable Care Act enrollees about how to get insurance. Looking fashionable in a black and purple striped wrap dress, Mrs Obama showed off her lighter locks, which were styled in chic flowing waves. The First Lady was also pictured yesterday sporting the new ´do at Yu Yung Public Charter School in
