North Korean Satellite Launch
Changes Balance And Shakes Region

Arutz Sheva [Israel], by Dr. Amiel Ungar

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 12/13/2012 1:51:06 AM

The success of the North Korean regime in putting a satellite into orbit has both diplomatic and strategic implications. It will undoubtedly provide encouragement for Iran, by demonstrating that UN condemnations and expressions of "regret" will not terrorize a country determined to change the strategic balance. It also represents the failure of US multilateral diplomacy that expected Russia and China to do a bit of the heavy lifting with regards to Pyongyang. Once again, the hopes that a young leader would mark a change in a brutal and tyrannical regime have been dashed.

Comments:
A simple, but succinct editorial that shows that the Israelis "get it" when it comes to the significance of the recent North Korean missile launch. It proved that there was no one, 0bama [US] to the UN Security Council that could stop a small rogue state today from obtaining nuclear power or missile technology to deliver it.

The world has suddenly gotten smaller as this will play out. [Oh, it´s suppose to be a weather satellite].

There is a way to change the balance of power in the world and that would be to allow the export of oil and LNG. Two additional steps would be to drill in blocked regions of Alaska and to expedite the federal part of permitting of planned oil and gas pipelines. The US refining system is filling with light sweet tight oil when it is designed to take the sour heavy gunk. Our entry into the oil and LNG export market would particularly hurt Russia, Iran, Venezuela, and Libya.

Look at it this way folks. BJ Clintoon sold the tech to the Chicoms and the Norks so this was bound to happen. Fast forward to 2012 and we now have a president that not only looks like Alfred E Newman but has the "what me worry" attitude. Obumbo will nto let this launch by the Norks get in the way of his "happy holiday" in Hawaii or his crappy golf game.

Don´t worry about this. It isn´t as if the NoKos are practicing to hit the United States with ICBM´s or anything. Besides Obama is on the phone to the UN now for more sanctions and he will install some more patriot missile batteries in New York City. It´s all proactive from this administration. /sarcasm.

One day we´ll know it´s finally too late to pop the boil that is NoKo. They could very well implement nuclear blackmail one day, give an ultimatum(like immediate and unconditional withdrawal of US troops from SoKo) and by then it will be too late. Truman should have let MacArthur win the Korean War the way he WANTED to! Like MacArthur stated, "There is no substitute for victory".

French Lab Loses SARS Vials

A French lab has lost more than 2,000 vials containing fragments of the deadly SARS virus, which killed nearly 800 people in a 2003 epidemic across four continents. The Pasteur Institute in Paris, France announced this week that it realized it was missing the vials and contacted the country’s National Security Agency of Medicines and Health Products to conduct an investigation on April 8, according to a news release. Although the fragments are not dangerous, they do raise concerns by revealing the lab’s vulnerability, said Dr. William Schaffner, chair of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville,

Cities and counties won’t be allowed to raise the minimum wage under a law signed Monday by Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin (R). Under the new law, which passed the state legislature on party-line votes earlier this year, cities would be prohibited from raising the minimum wage above the $7.25 federal mark, and they would be prevented from requiring employers to provide sick days to their employees. Backers of the new law said differing wages in different cities would be a hardship for businesses. In a statement, Fallin said different wage laws would hurt job creation. In recent years, cities and localities across the country have unilaterally

Rev. Al Sharpton’s Easter message:

With Easter soon approaching, the Rev. Al Sharpton on Wednesday drew parallels between the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of President Obama’s political career. Joining the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” Mr. Sharpton said that his message for this Easter is that “no matter what the world may do to you unfairly, no matter how you’re crucified — nailed to the cross at home, or in your personal relationships, or on the job — that you can rise if you don’t lose yourself during the hard times and the challenges.” The reverend went on to say that Christ endured so much humiliation and unearned suffering leading up to his death,

An orange-black ribbon holds

As pro-Russia protests spread in eastern Ukraine, a strip of striped orange-and-black fabric has become as ubiquitous as the armed men in unmarked military fatigues. Its name is the Ribbon of Saint George. Imbued with history, it’s a powerful symbol in the ongoing information battle over Ukraine. For Russians it´s a mark of allegiance to the state – both the fearsome, expansionist Russian state of old and its modern successor under President Vladimir Putin. When pro-Russia rallies took place last December, seeking to rival the Maidan demonstrations in Kiev, very few ribbons were seen.

Robert Rizzo, the city administrator who oversaw an era of corruption and graft in one of Los Angeles County’s poorest cities, was sentenced Wednesday to 12 years in state prison. Rizzo stared straight ahead, his palms pressed against the defense table as the sentence was read. “Mr. Rizzo, you did some very, very bad things for a very long time,” Superior Court Judge Kathleen Kennedy told the former Bell city administrator. The judge said Rizzo transformed himself into a “godfather of sorts” in Bell, an all-powerful ruler who plundered the city’s treasury to pay lavish salaries and dole out loans to fellow employees.

Iran´s parliament is seeking a ban on vasectomies and a tightening of abortion rules as the country moves away from its progressive laws on family planning in an attempt to increase the birthrate. Two decades after Iran initiated an effective birth control programme, including subsidised male sterilisation surgeries and free condom distribution, the country is to make a U-turn. Last year the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, criticised existing policy on contraception, describing it as an imitation of western lifestyle. Climate change’s latest casualty appears to be fish — or more specifically, fish brains — as researchers say the carbon dioxide that’s being absorbed into the ocean is causing the scaly creatures to lose their survival instincts. In other words, the fish are losing their minds, The Daily Mail reported. The acid from atmospheric carbon dioxide seeps into sea waters, dissolves and ultimately lowers the pH balance, researchers said. The acidic waters then hamper the fishes’ sensory systems, so they’re not able to distinguish between smells any longer, the scientists went on. When the acid levels get really high, the fish lose their

It’s always a hassle getting called for jury duty. This is something all of us can agree on. Now, there’s a dog out there who can also agree on this, because she too got called in to fulfill her civic duty. Yes, really. Last week, New Jersey’s Cumberland County sent a jury summons to resident IV Griner. But IV Griner is not a person. She’s a German Shepherd. Her owner, Barrett Griner, tells CBS Philly that he figured out the mishap quickly, but it was still pretty funny. His full name is Barrett Griner IV, so a computer likely mistook the roman numerals for his first name before the summons was mailed out.

The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as
