| The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has officially announced next year´s inductees: Rush, Public Enemy, Heart, Randy Newman, Donna Summer and Albert King will all join the class of 2013, with Summer, who passed away this May, and King, who died in 1992, earning the honor posthumously. Lou Adler and Quincy Jones will both receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award for non-performers. "It´s a terrific honor and we´ll show up smiling," Rush´s singer and bassist, Geddy Lee, tells Rolling Stone. "It made my mom happy, so that´s worth it."

Rush fans (even here at LDot) have been demanding this for years. Hope they´re happy, as this gimmick is so far beneath them - the Sex Pistols were right. And Public Enemy? How diverse, Jann.

I agree with #6 about Rush.Ghost of a Chance is a great song. However, that fat broad from Heart can rot in hell for what she disparagingly said about my service in Vietnam, and I wont repeat her bull-oney about her boyfriend having to flee to Canada to avoid that "dirty war" because that would be giving credence to a stupid fat idiot!

BAKER – There´s a new thermometer on the market. But it´s unlikely to fit under your tongue. The 134-foot landmark in Baker, billed as the world´s largest thermometer, has been put up for sale. The asking price: $1.75 million. The Los Angeles Times reported Thursday the price includes the now vacant gift shop at the base and 4 acres around it. Erected in the sweltering city in 1991, the thermometer with nearly 5,000 light bulbs was intended as beacon for motorists headed to and from Las Vegas on I-15.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Baking hardens the gluten, which helps the finished product keep its shape. Wheat — and gluten — is ubiquitous in the American diet.
