Reid: ´Fiscal Cliff´ Deal
Unlikely Before Christmas

CNBC News, by Staff

Original Article

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Tuesday Democrats aren´t going to make an offer on spending cuts for Republicans and that it will be hard to reach a "fiscal cliff" deal before Christmas. "Until we hear something from Republicans, there´s nothing to draft," Reid told reporters in the Capitol, referring to writing legislation to implement a deal.

Comments:
This from the Clown Prince who rejected bringing his own party´s ´budget´ up for a vote.

I swear, you could not make this stuff up if you tried.

As a smart guy said last night on Dana Perino (Greta) R from Bakersfield,
the Reps need to stop negotiating with themselves.
Neither idiot kenyan boy nor dingy harry have offered anything (how long since a budget harry?) so Reps should just keep shouting that they are willing to fix the problem once jug ears quits campaigning and dingy comes to the table.

Again, you Nevadans should be real proud of your senator. Despite being senile, he one of the best liars and most partisan individuals ever to be in the senate. Congrats.

right on #2 the latest photo of Reid on drudge proves he was the Green Grinch inspiration and looks alike.
Isn´t strange the Senate can´t pass a deal in two weeks when the Michigan legislature took ONE day.
Does the Won and Harry really have more power other than stagnation than the Unions?

Reid won´t have one anytime soon, if he´s working on the 2010 budget first. Or is it the 2009 budget?

You´re a mean one Mr. Grinch, I mean Mr. Reid...it wasn´t going to be much of a "deal" for the American people anyway, more of the same tax and spend big government routine...everybody has to sacrifice so that we can spend, spend, spend, etc.

Plet the tax rates expire and the cuts to take place. Then come out with tax reform legislation that takes down ObamaCare.

"The thoughts and prayers of the American people are with the families of all those who were killed and injured in the terrorist attack in Algeria," Obama said in his first comments on the hostage crisis.

Boehner´s tactics

Conservative congressmen don´t question House Speaker John Boehner´s dedication to the cause. But as chaos overtakes GOP efforts to prevent a Jan. 1 tax hike, members do have doubts about his effectiveness. Here´s the latest turn of events: Over the summer, House Republicans passed a bill extending the Bush-era tax rates, which are set to expire, resulting in higher rates Jan. 1. That was Boehner´s Plan A. Senate Democrats said no, and so Boehner rolled out Plan B: extend current rates for all income below $1 million, and rein in Social Security spending.

GOP Strategy and the Fiscal Cliff

Both Speaker John Boehner and media analysts have been spun into a state of confusion by the fiscal cliff issue and President Obama´s reelection. The fiscal cliff exists because the president and the GOP Congress could not decide in 2011 on a permanent general policy toward the budget. And now the president has added another factor: he is determined to usurp the Congressional authority to raise the debt ceiling. If the budget goes over the cliff, two things will happen: tax rates on everyone will rise, and across the board spending cuts will be made.

Earlier this year, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) decided to disinvite two predominantly white high school choral groups from performance in the ASO´s holiday concert. The ASO´s decision was reportedly motivated by the high schools´ lack of diversity, which caused a stir among people who believe in racial justice as opposed to racial favoritism.

Abortion clinic employee Sherry West described an incident which "really freaked (her) out" and related to the jury how she heard a child who was born alive following an abortion scream.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he´s "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. Obama´s gun control proposals have run into resistance on Capitol Hill, leaving their fate in doubt. Efforts by Senate Democrats to reach compromise with Republicans over expanding required federal background checks have yet to yield an agreement, and conservatives were promising to try

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

Congress and the American people need to know what happened the night of Sept. 11, 2012. Who did the killing and what was their motive? Why wasn´t help sent? And why did the administration lie about who was responsible? Margaret Thatcher had more impact on the world than any woman ruler since Catherine the Great of Russia. Not only did she turn around—decisively—the British economy in the 1980s, she also saw her methods copied in more than 50 countries. "Thatcherism" was the most popular and successful way of running a country in the last quarter of the 20th century and into the 21st. Her origins were humble. Born Oct. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of a grocer in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham. Alfred Roberts was no ordinary shopkeeper.
