Venezuela Without Chavez:
Chaos The Most Likely Successor

Investor´s Business Daily, by Editorial

Original Article

Posted By:PageTurner, 12/11/2012 10:36:16 AM

Americas: Dictator Hugo Chavez´s near-certain exit in Venezuela looks like a second wind for the country´s democrats. But not so fast: The petrotyranny is no longer a republic, it´s a cult of personality. Latin Spring is more like it. The shocking news over the weekend from Chavez, that he was heading back to Cuba for a third operation less than a week after treatment there, pretty well signals that the still-undisclosed type of cancer that afflicts him is terminal. A somber Chavez announced Saturday for the first time that he was turning over the reins of power

Comments:
The thug has left a hash of things - this will be the Latin version of Arab Spring - violent and crazy on our doorstep.

Dictators are paranoid with good reason. They also stash a lot of cash and goodies. The entourage that gets rich off of the connections to the dictator grows exponentially with the number of years the dictator can hang on. The looting of thepublic weal grows exponentially and the brazeness of the looting increases. The Cubans running the security apparatus in Venezuela will be taking everything that isn´t naled down and is portable.

Now, the vaccum comes and the thugiest of the thugs will emerge. Watch Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador squirm as their pipeline into the Venezuelan oil money dries up. Argentina, in particular, will find out if the new master demands repayment of the billions showered the kleptocracy.

Watch our State Department support the most anti-American faction when it is time to choose sides.

Fair Free Market Capitalism(FFMC) is considered chaos by most on the left. They like their academic models that control the economy. And the realizations of those models always produces poor results. While FFMC is always a booming success. Even for the poor. But it is such a froth of activity that the academics can´t model it.
Venezuela´s problem is they have never had FFMC.

In a darkly overcast horizon, a thin gleam of sunlight beckons.

I trust Chavez has stocked up on an appropriate men´s cologne, such as
Eu De Sulphur.

With Chavez and Mandela going, can´t we just throw in Castro to make it a Commie Trifecta heading down below? Will it be a Christmas or New Year´s gift?

Former Sex Pistol John Lydon says those now celebrating Margaret Thatcher´s death are ´loathsome´. Lydon, famously known as Johnny Rotten when he was the singer in Punk icons The Sex Pistols back in the 1970s as Maggie was rising to power, added: ´I´m not going to dance on her grave.´ He said: ´I was her enemy in her life but I will not be her enemy in her death.´ He also denied being a mysogynist and a Nazi following a controversial appearance this week on Aussie TV show, The Project.

Horror found an address in west Philadelphia. The gruesome testimony at the “House of Horrors” murder trial of abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell continued on Thursday, with two former employees describing scenes that strained the imagination. Ashley Baldwin, who began working at the cash-only Women’s Medical Society clinic in west Philadelphia when she was just 15, said that she routinely assisted Gosnell with abortions and, on five different occasions, saw babies moving following the procedure. In one case, Baldwin, who is now 22 and the mother of her own toddler, testified that she witnessed an aborted baby “screeching,” the Philadelphia

Nate Thayer recently became a hero to an entire generation of underappreciated, underpaid–and more importantly often unpaid–journalists just scraping by when he made public emails from an Atlantic editor asking him to work for free. With even our most highly remunerated writers, including Scott Turow, speaking out about their writing being pilfered, Thayer struck a chord. “We unfortunately can’t pay you for it, but we do reach 13 million readers a month,” an Atlantic.com editor, Olga Khazan, emailed him after reading a piece that Thayer had already written elsewhere. Britain has decided not to invite Argentine President Cristina Kirchner to the funeral of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Downing Street said on Thursday. The decision follows on a special request from the Thatcher family. The UK government is still finalizing the list of foreign dignitaries who will receive invitations to the ceremonial funeral next Wednesday of the “Iron Lady”, who successfully led Britain into a war to expel Argentine forces that invaded the Falkland Islands in 1982. Prime Minister David Cameron´s Downing Street office said that some current world leaders would be invited, but Cristina Fernandez,

VALENCIA, Venezuela – It´s just after nightfall and the power is out again in untold hundreds of thousands — probably millions — of Venezuelan homes. If the government knows how many, it´s not saying. It hasn´t issued reports on problems in the public power grid since 2010. In Venezuela´s third-largest city, Pedro Martinez dons a shirt for visitors drawn by the flicker of candles inside his one-story, cement-block house in a middle-class district. The Caribbean heat is sticky thick inside. A mesh hammock hangs by the front door. "This happens nearly every day," Martinez says of the blackout,

The death of Margaret Thatcher received extensive media coverage in Chile, proving that the “Dama de Hierro” (“Iron Lady”) is still capable of stirring powerful emotions among Chileans—of irritation among her opponents and admiration from her supporters. Her passing occurred while Heritage economic experts were in Santiago to present results for Chile in the 2013 Index of Economic Freedom (a publication that celebrates the core principles to which Prime Minister Thatcher dedicated her political career). Several Chileans told us why Thatcher mattered so much to them and why Chile mattered to her.

The women testified against former Mount Carmel Vice-Mayor William Blakely in Tennessee court last week and all described in graphic detail how he would get their attention while they were driving and then hang his penis out the car window. Victim Kelly Street testified: ´After the waving, it turned into a lot of beeping, him grabbing his chest area, and asking me going "please, please" [clasping hands together] with his hands, may I… show me yours.´

Rights activists reacted with indignation on Wednesday after Singapore´s High Court rejected a petition to repeal an archaic law criminalising sex between men. In a ruling issued on Tuesday, the court said it was up to parliament to repeal a controversial provision in the penal code known as Section 377A, whose constitutionality has been questioned by a gay couple. "The issue in the present case no doubt is challenging and important, but it is not one which, in my view, justifies heavy-handed judicial intervention ahead of democratic change," Judge Quentin Loh said in his verdict.

Whoever wins next Sunday’s presidential election in Venezuela faces an economic time bomb with food shortages, insufficient US dollars to pay for imports and honour the country’s debt, a devastated economy full of inefficient nationalized companies and non productive farms plus mounting promises of further handouts from the government and inflation. “In a way, Chávez left at the zenith of his success” says Orlando Ochoa, an economist at the Andrés Bello Catholic University in Caracas. “And his legacy for his successor is an economic bomb”. In an effort to stem the problems the government created a new foreign-exchange agency

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.
