| THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER Californians increasingly may be on their own against criminals because of state and local budget problems. Two recent reports are scary. KCBS wrote, "Burglaries are up a startling 43 percent in Oakland this year compared to last, part of an ever-growing crime problem in the city.... The city could be down to a little more than 600 [police] officers by February, which would be 200 fewer than in 2008."

Got rid of cops but I´ll bet the third assistant to the Mayor of every town that picks up after the meetings still has a job.
Priorities folks...
On the missing cop thing, I´ll bet the homeowners are heavily armed and will do in, then bury in a wooded area any perpetrators.

Willie Brown, the ex Speaker and ex Mayor of SF, wrote in his Sunday column about his son receiving a call from alarm company telling him the alarm was set off from his home in Oakland. Sonny boy was far away from home and drove back. The alarm company warned him not to enter the house as thieves could still be there. The princeling arrived 45 minutes later and sure enough the burglars were finishing their job. He sat in his car, watched them drive off. About 5 minutes later the OPD arrived. One of the most surprising thing is that OD actually showed up at all since they seldom respond unless there is a shooting or possibility of a death. No one even bothers reporting small break-ins and car robberies. Detroit West

London, England - A new wealth tax is being proposed by the leftist wing (The Liberal Democrats) of our coalition government that will come with unprecedented powers to enter our homes and root through our personal possessions to value rings, necklaces, paintings and furniture, anything that might raise more taxes. If we refuse to be inspected or get our own valuations wrong, we would be facing fines, maybe even a jail sentence. This brainchild was conceived by the Lib Dems for their next election manifesto and is part of a series of measures planned to tax the better off.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry was scheduled to be in California the start of this week. The Associated Press reported the governor planned to meet with executives in San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles and Orange County. Gov. Outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta reportedly believes the military should receive a pay cut in order to respond to the budget cuts facing the Pentagon — a position that might strengthen the Republican push to reverse President Obama’s executive order raising the salary of Vice President Joe Biden and other federal officials. “Panetta will recommend to Congress that military salaries be limited to a one percent increase in 2014,” CNN reports, explaining that Panetta is “effectively decreasing troop salaries next year . . . The decision comes as the secretary is stepping up the rhetoric about dire cuts at the Pentagon if sequestration goes into effect.”

The dictionary tells us that a constitution is a law, or compilation of laws, determining the fundamental political principles of a government. The people of the United States have a constitution. Now, I know this will come as a shock to many, but we actually DO have a constitution, which was written at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787 and subsequently ratified by the original thirteen states.

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) plans to introduce (or has already introduced) gun-control legislation in the 113th Congress, ostensibly to protect the lives of children, and to curb mass murders, like the one that occurred in Newtown, CT. At the same time, Feinstein is very pro-choice and supports taxpayer funding for abortions. She opposes bans on partial-birth abortion. Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

LOS ANGELES — Jonathan Winters, the cherub-faced comedian whose breakneck improvisations and misfit characters inspired the likes of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, has died. He was 87. The Ohio native died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes, said Joe Petro III, a longtime family friend. Petro said Winters died of natural causes and was surrounded by family and friends. Winters was a pioneer of improvisational standup comedy, with an exceptional gift for mimicry, a grab bag of eccentric personalities and a bottomless reservoir of creative energy.
