I went into "Inglourious Bastards" thinking that I would hate it. It turned out to be an amazing piece of film making with some of the best written scenes I´ve seen in years. The opening scene in the French farm house, with it´s expert mixing of languages, and espicially the scene in the basement of the cafe, which lasted for almost a half hour of discursive interlocking conversations like a Chekhov play. Of course no Chekhov play ever ended in a bloodbath.

It will be a longgggg day in Hell before this WHITE person goes to see anything with Jamie Foxx in it. Just read his comments on Drudge, which, when you add them to Lord and Savior Obama, really stele things.....white people dead, ho ho ho, etc. This Foxx must be one dumb guy---there goes a good portion of his audience right off the bat........take a look at Drudge (Tuesday Dec. 11th) for your laugh of the day.

And wasn´t Samuel Jackson the guy who was heavily featured in Obama ads saying the earth will die if Romney wins over Barack. The devil with them both. (I know Jackson does well; caught a talk show once where he talked about his servants at home etc., all this while wearing that idiot beret he has adopted.) I also thought the basement scene in Inglorious was great, but the rest of the movie was almost unwatchable.
BTW, the Brad Pitt character was a transparent attempt at mocking Bush and the global war on terror.

Enlightening and interesting review. I´ll probably go see the movie, but not at the first-run theater... sounds like it worth $2.
Reviewer Dreyfus compared Tarantino with another "faux-history" director, Oliver Stone. There´s a big difference, however. Tarantino makes no pretense at behing historically accurate. Stone wants you think his movies are documentaries. (IMO they are more boring than most documentaries. Nobody ever accused Tarantino of being boring.)

Mark Steyn does not mince words: "The U.S. media´s unanimous agreement to see no evil is sick and totalitarian." For a clue as to what may be motivating the North Korean regime´s recent provocations, one need look no further than Kim Jong-Un´s American counterpart in the Dear Leader deification sweepstakes. If our major media were not fully committed propagandists, they would report the findings of a large scale survey of law enforcement personnel on the subject of further gun legislation. After all, they are currently following the President´s strategy of distracting the public from the awful state of the economy by exploiting the victims of Newtown to push for further erosion of Second Amendment rights. So the views of law enforcement personnel ought ot be of some interest. But of course the results are dramatic

The murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell largely is being ignored by the mainstream media, even in the face of grisly testimony, such as what we heard yesterday. Life News reports: ...a former employee described how she heard a baby scream during a live-birth abortion. Abortion clinic employee Sherry West described an incident which "really freaked (her) out" and related to the jury how she heard a child who was born alive following an abortion scream.

During the highly publicized exchange between Bill O´Reilly and Laura Ingraham on gay marriage, O´Reilly made this statement: "There are Bible thumpers, and all they do is say, ´I object to gay marriage because God objects to it.´ You don´t win a policy debate in America with that." It´s one thing for President Obama to be cocky and overstate his prowess at governing. People are used to politicians grabbing credit, and besides, you can always rationalize when it comes to explaining why things didn´t quite work out as you claimed they would - "the sequester ate my recovery" being the latest successful-enough example. But sports is something else. The basketball either goes through the hoop or it doesn´t. That´s why President Obama´s history of braggadocio regarding his prowess at hoops is having a potent effect on his overall public image, especially with those who are favorably inclined to him.

During his two day flurry of fundraising in Northern California, the President of the United States took it upon himself (and allow to be released to the public - not all of his fundraising comments make it to the masses) to praise the attractiveness of Kamala Harris, California Attorney General (snip) The remark, predictably, generated a little of what Allahpundit called a ´Blue on blue food fight." I suspect that was the intention. The president´s image as a manly man took a beating when he missed 20 of 22 basketball shots, all recorded on video.

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.

Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

LOS ANGELES — Jonathan Winters, the cherub-faced comedian whose breakneck improvisations and misfit characters inspired the likes of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, has died. He was 87. The Ohio native died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes, said Joe Petro III, a longtime family friend. Petro said Winters died of natural causes and was surrounded by family and friends.
