Washington - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has canceled her trip to Morocco this week for a meeting on the future of Syria's opposition because of a stomach virus, the State Department said on Monday. Deputy Secretary of State Bill Burns will travel to the meeting in her place. "Since she's still under the weather, we'll be staying put this week instead of heading to North Africa and the Middle East as originally planned," State Department spokesman Philippe Reines said in a statement. "In her place, Deputy Secretary Burns will travel to Marrakech for the Friends of the Syrian People meeting.

When I look at Britain and Israel´s intelligence gathering and look at ours,i almost cry. What exactly do we have on the origins of Syrian rebels. I´m sure Clapper knows as soon as he sees it on the news.

maybe Hillary ducked out of this because it could hurt her 2016 chances down the road.

Huma just bought a million + condo in Ny with an out of work husband and Hill´´s buying a high end pad on the water in the Hamptons. I think government scale is $175K for these positions so how can they afford all this?

I suspect that maybe she forgot to have her food handler run a Geiger counter over some recent meal since all the current talk of a 2016 bid for the pResidency. 0bama needs that open for his "rumored" third FDR-like term. However, as above poster, I suspect that Syria is a "no-win" situation for any diplomat who comes from a democratic country. Whether to continue to support a dictator who slaughters [possibly with chemical weapons] his own people, or the opposition that is made up of al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations.

Either way, wouldn´t look good on PIAPS resume. She would have been smart to send Susan Rice, as a test run for her ambition to be the next Secretary of State.

Hill sees the middle east mess as coming home to her roost and surmises now may be the time to bow out...if she is going to have a future after her alcohol rehab, diet, facelift and spa time. Old girl must start now pulling herself together for 2015-2016. Plus, she must start now making us forget what a mess she´s made of the State Department and Foreign Policy.

Seriously, just wait till she re-emerges in a year or two...we won´t recognize her.

Maybe Hillary has a rip roaring case of the loose poops, but there is room to wonder if she is not taking a pass at recognizing a Syrian rebel faction, as in the last few days there have been stories in the foreign press that most of those Syrian rebel groups are aligning themselves with an Islamic anti-American al Qaeda organization that is operating in rebel held parts of Syria.

Hillary can´t personally publicly recognize such aligned Islamist groups if she intends to run for President in 2016. She will skip out of anything if the result will tend to be adverse to her politically, that´s probably why Susan Rice was sent to the Sunday TV talk shows to blow hot air at the American public concerning the al-Qaeda linked Banghazi attack.

WASHINGTON — The online insurance marketplace in Oregon is such a technological mess that residents have been signing up for health coverage by hand. In Texas, political opposition to President Obama’s health law is so strong that some residents believe, erroneously, that the program is banned in their state. But in Connecticut, a smoothly functioning website, run by competent managers, has successfully enrolled so many patients that officials are offering to sell their expertise to states like Maryland, which is struggling to sign people up for coverage. This comes despite falling methane emission levels across the economy since 1990. The White House has proposed cutting methane emissions from the dairy industry by 25 percent by 2020. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas. When Jorge Mario Bergoglio became Pope Francis a little more than a year ago, the first thing that struck those who knew him well was his unexpected, beatific smile. “In Argentina, he didn’t smile like that,” Sergio Rubin, the pope’s biographer, said this week at a conference sponsored by the Ethics and Public Policy Center. “That was the big surprise.” Since then, the pope has mostly kept on smiling — in homilies, in audiences, in meetings with the homeless and the poor.
