Maduro, the most faithful bus
driver, but also the most
powerful Bolivarian coupe

MercoPress [Montevideo, Uruguay], by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:PageTurner, 12/9/2012 11:47:37 PM

The heir-designate of President Hugo Chavez is a former bus driver and trade unionist with the Caracas public transport. Nicolás Maduro, 50, has been foreign minister since 2006 and also was named vice president in October. As foreign minister Maduro has been a faithful ambassador of Chávez’ views, including often radical critiques of global affairs from a hard left-wing stance. However he has won plaudits from foreign diplomats for his affable, easygoing manner. “He´s the smoothest and least prickly of all the top Chávistas to deal with,” one European envoy said.

Comments:
Yes indeed, a bus driver and union thug to boot. Ought to come in handy driving the Venezuelan ship of state - which has no brakes. Maduro has confided to US officials in the past that Chavez is a nut, so it could get interesting.

Chavez proves what a nut case he is by being on the verge of death and going to Cuba for health treatment.I guess there´s no cancer doctors or radiation treatments in Venezuela.

I don´t like Chavez one bit but it wouldn´t bother me if he came here for treatment on humanitarian grounds.

I agree. If he had any brains at all, he´d go to Maimi for some first class treatment same as that Canadian governor did.

But the reality is, Hugo is so paranoid about being poisoned he can´t even take a cup of coffee from anyone without a taster first. Chavez went to Spain to meet Prime Minister Aznar and literally didn´t trust the coffee Aznar offered him. He´s that crazy. His own paranoia may be what does him in.

Kareema Cross, a “medical assistant” who worked at Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Society clinic for four-and-a-half years, testified in a Philadelphia court today, telling of the horrors of babies who survived abortions only to have their necks snipped with scissors. “Did you ever see those babies move?” asked Prosecutor Joanne Pescatore. “Yes, once in the toilet,” said Cross.

After being carried through the streets of London in a flag-draped coffin aboard a gun carriage, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was laid to rest this morning in St. Paul´s Cathedral. But the big story of the day wasn´t Maggie. No, it was a 19-year-old Texan who stole the show from the deceased Iron Lady. With a poise reminiscent of the elder Thatcher, Amanda Thatcher, Margaret´s granddaughter, delivered a reading from Epistles that has the British media agog. Amanda, who lives with her mother in Texas, chose a rather militant passage that calls on believers

He was one of the international guests accredited by the National Electoral Council (CNE) and invited by the opposition coalition. In this sense, international guests supported the petition of opposition candidate Henrique Capriles Radonski for a thorough and objective recount of "each tally sheet, each polling station, and each voters´ roll."

Latin America: Venezuela´s election on Sunday, which saw bus driver Nicolas Maduro declared the winner by a razor-thin margin, reeked of electoral fraud. Kudos to challenger Henrique Capriles for calling it out. Fraud is a strong word but, yes, it´s the clearest conclusion from Venezuela´s election Sunday to pick a successor to the late socialist dictator Hugo Chavez. Chavez´s hand-picked successor "won" Venezuela´s election Sunday, with what Chavez´s anything-but impartial CNE electoral body declaring he´d gotten 50.6% of the vote, while his challenger, Miranda state governor Henrique Capriles Radonski garnered 49.07% — a gap of just 235,000 votes.

icolas Maduro, political heir to the late Hugo Chavez, was declared the winner of Venezuela’s presidential election yesterday in a result that was immediately challenged by the opposition. The 50-year-old former bus driver received 50.7 percent of the votes, the national electoral council said after about 99 percent of ballots were counted. Henrique Capriles Radonski, who temporarily stepped down as governor of Miranda state to run, had 49.1 percent and vowed to contest the results. “We had a fair and constitutional victory,” Maduro said after the results were announced. “This is another victory, a homage to our comandante Hugo Chavez.”

It wasn’t just Margaret Thatcher’s steadfast economic and foreign policies that helped to defeat the Evil Empire and to bring down the Iron Curtain. She also changed hearts and minds — and this PJ Media author, who grew up on the other side of the Iron Curtain, has a personal story to tell. As many Soviet kids did in the 1970s and 1980s, I occasionally tuned my shortwave radio to Voice of America or the BBC Russian Service, hoping to hear their alternative take on world events and, if I was lucky, get the latest rock-music updates.

If you don’t know who Kermit Gosnell is, that’s because you read the New York Times and Politico.com, and you watch network news. Gosnell is a Philadelphia abortionist who’s currently on trial for murder. Multiple counts. So once again, no good deed goes unpunished. Uncle Sam lets another bunch of leeching future terrorists into the country who have absolutely no business being here, gives them “asylum,” making them immediately eligible for welfare, and this is the thanks we get? They turn into mass murderers. We bring in thousands of Muslims from a primitive society that has been battling Christians for centuries, and put them into a peaceful Christian society — what could possible go wrong? This is what I was thinking about yesterday, with much of the city under what amounted to martial law.

The Massachusetts college student wanted in the Boston Marathon bombing was captured wounded, but alive after hiding out in a boat parked in a backyard on Friday evening. The arrest of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev signaled the end of five days of terror set-off by the double bombing at the marathon finish line and the mayor of Boston, Thomas Menino, was quoted by the Boston Globe as taking to the police scanner to exclaim, ´We got him´. Relieved law enforcement officers began cheering and clapping after Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, was arrested and is now in a serious condition at Beth Israel Deaconess

We are still speculating about virtually everything right now, but I feel as though I need to explain why I find the quick and easy conversation about Muslims being radicalized in America to be so illogical and laced with bigotry. Of course, there is a global violent jihadist movement, loosely organized, that wants to recruit young men to influence policies at home and abroad and perhaps usher in the global caliphate. That ideology motivates some Muslims to kill innocent people. But you´re allowed to be a radical Muslim in America.

Federal law enforcement officials are actively investigating the possibility that the Boston bombers were known to the government’s terror-trackers, MailOnline understands. Any inquiry into the marathon bombing will look into whether agents could have taken action – but didn’t – to prevent the Tsarnaev brothers from obtaining the explosives that killed 3 and wounded 173 others. CBS News reported Friday evening that two years ago, the FBI interviewed the elder brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, who was killed in Thursday night´s dramatic shootout.
