This behaviour after passing this law is why I will never ever vote for something like this in Oregon. And someone involved in an official level said publically that they now have to figure out how to keep the stuff out of the hands of teens. I would have thought that State leo´s would have insisted on legality for MJ be age related like drinking is.

Your "Lord and Savior Obama" is going to open up his can of "regulation whoop a##" on marijuana (from production through retail) to the point where you won´t be able to recognize it. You´ll then pray for the return of the good old days when the stuff was illegal. At which point I´ll say, "welcome to the Republican Party".

1. Pot is legal
2. Pot must now be regulated
3. Pot must now be mass-produced and marketed to the masses

5. We *discover* that pot is actually bad for you and causes things like cancer, early-on set dementia, weight-gain and extremely bad driving habits
6. Gov´t begins to raise taxes on pot to try to get consumers not to buy it
6. Gov´t sues BIG POT, BIG WEED
7. Some in gov´t start to call for the illegalization of pot

All I can say is that Mexican cartels are not going to give up their iron-grip deadly monopolies on pot to friendly neighborhood hippies who want to go into the pot business for themselves. They don´t tolerate competition - and they behead their gang rivals. Imagine what they will do to unarmed hippies. There´ll be a lot more like this before the year´s up.

My question is, if it´s legal to smoke pot in Washington state, why does the report call it an "alleged" growing center? Will it need to be proven in a court of law by a jury of his peers that the "alleged" growing center is in fact a "convicted" growing center? In that vein, they should have included that the "alleged" homeowner shot the "alleged" robbers in front of his "alleged" 9 YO son.

Couldn´t tell from the article if the attempted robbery was due to the grow operation or not. Also, some here are throwing out a red-herring: the robbery would have happened regardless if pot was still illegal or not. So, don´t blame the legalization for the deaths; that was just pure Darwin award material.

Totally misleading and inaccurate headline.
It should read "2 killed in home invasion" No mention that anything happened because of legalized pot. The guy had a few plants in his attic and they call it a "growing center"? Get real people...this is nothing more than an attempt by the media to blame criminal burglary on pot being legalized.

I agree with #17 and #18. (But just the same, I´m happy not to be on a Washington highway until things "settle down.")

So who do you sue when drivers start having accidents because they are high, and what about other motorized vehicles like air planes, trains, lawnmowers. Imagine all the silly goofs on the streets. And forget about the stench of pot.

I wonder if the ´no smoking´ rules in restaurants and hospitals apply to the potheads.

Is there less danger of lung cancer smoking pot instead of cigarettes? I have never seen this discussed.
