Matthews Harangues J.C. Watts
To Agree That GOP’s Secret
Message Was ‘We Don’t Like
Black Presidents’

Mediaite, by Noah Rothman

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 12/6/2012 8:37:21 PM

On his program on Thursday, MSNBC host Chris Matthews played a series of clips of self-identified Republicans or surrogates for Mitt Romney’s campaign from the past year for former Congressman J.C. Watts in an effort to get him to admit the Republican party’s leadership were speaking in “dog whistles” to communicate for voters that “we don’t like black presidents.” Matthews played a series of clips from GOP supporters like Donald Trump and John Sununu and asked how Watts reacted to them. “On the birther thing, I think that’s a losing issue,”

Comments:
I´m sure Matthews was called out for being a racist by treating Rep. Watts so rudely. s/o

J.C. Watts is a gentleman. Chrissie obviously got his marching orders when he got called to the White House.

JC Watts was a guest on Hannity´s radio show today and admitted he might be challenging Reince Priebus to be head of the RNC. I like JC, but if he can be talked into this by Chrissy Matthews, I don´t think he should take that job. We need somebody like Sarah Palin. She would be perfect!

Sarah or Rep. West!

He wasn´t talked into anything. He said he was critical of the Romney campaign for not being more diversified -- and many here at Lucianne were saying the same thing.

Chrissy Matthews bullied his way through these statements he wanted to make as usual. He also called the RNC "clowns" and people still think he´s a journalist.

All J.C. said was the RNC "needs a different tone" -- and it does. A lot of us are resigning from the GOP because of their tin ears.

I strongly believe that this racist card has been played for so long and so hard that it is so totally irrelevant.

Americans for the most part could care less what pigment the president has...we just all seek some one who is actually competent.

However, as the first 1/4 black president who has played the race card every single day of his life, he has set race relations back at least 50 to 100 years and is the living, breathing and spitting image of why affirmative action is a complete failure and only reduces the "whole" to the lowest common denominator. His entire administration of affirmative action employees proves that they are judged not by the content of their character but merely the color of their skin.

#3. J.C. Is indeed a gentleman but absolutely the worst demeanor on these shows. Right now? Right now, when Dems are their nastiest, he goes on THIS show to discuss Republican problems? Oh boy, that was smart.

Gun bill clears Senate hurdle
as filibuster falls short
Fox News, by Staff    Original Article

Controversial gun legislation cleared a key Senate hurdle Thursday, as lawmakers voted 68-31 to start debate on the package which includes expanded background checks and new penalties for gun trafficking. Senate Democrats, joined by a few Republicans, were able to overcome an attempted filibuster by more than a dozen senators opposed to the current bill. Those senators could still slow-walk the debate, but the Senate will ultimately begin votes on amendments -- one of which is considered crucial to winning support for a final vote.

Superstar rapper Jay-Z released a new song Wednesday night addressing the recent controversy around his trip last month to Cuba with wife Beyonce, blasting politicians who have questioned whether it was appropriate for the pair to visit the communist nation. In the song, titled "Open Letter," Jay-Z jokes that he "turned Havana [in]to Atlanta" and claims President Obama told him "chill, you gonna get me impeached." Jay-Z´s song tees off on those questioning his travel plans, at one point asking politicians, "Wanna give me jail time and a fine? Fine, let me commit a real crime."

Reps. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), John Conyers (D-Mich.) and Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) tried a “stop the filibuster” campaign against Republicans in the upper chamber determined to stop gun-control legislation. The three liberal House members gathered signatures from 47 other lawmakers on the letter sent to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Mike Lee (R-Utah) to “respectfully request that you exercise restraint from engaging in filibusters on these important pieces of legislation.” The filibuster, they maintain, “was neither intended nor used historically to prevent the Senate from working its will on matters supported

Frustrated gun control proponents are determined to pass stricter gun laws, but they increasingly turn to graphic depictions of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting to push forward their agenda. “I walked the halls where these unspeakable acts took place,” Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday during a gun control speech. “I saw the dried blood on the walls. I saw the horrific crime scene photos.” It appears that Holder believes that the acts themselves are "unspeakable" but not the gory details of the aftermath. Neither does Vice President Joe Biden, who implemented a graphic approach while making

For decades, members of the left have insisted that the right is fighting a war on science. But when it comes to the issues of abortion and homosexuality, it is the left that fights a consistent and ridiculous war with reality. This week, Wesley Smith of the Weekly Standard reported that California would be considering AB 460, a bill that would mandate group insurance coverage for so-called gay and lesbian "infertility." What in the world does that bizarre phrase mean? It doesn´t mean situations in which two members of a lesbian couple are both infertile and incapable

The Washington Post’s Ed O’Keefe and David A. Fahrenthold share an interesting detail about the background checks compromise reached by Sen. Joe Manchin D-W.V. yesterday. For Manchin, that agreement was the payoff from months of relationship-building with Republicans, including nights of pizza and beer on a senator-stuffed boat called the Black Tie. The final deal was worked out over the past week, and concluded late Tuesday with a huddle at a rooftop birthday party for TV host Joe Scarborough. There, Sen. Charles E. Mediaite’s AJ Delgado returned to Sean Hannity‘s radio show on Wednesday afternoon, where she questioned, in part, why African-Americans support the Democrats in overwhelming numbers, when Democratic policies have done nothing, according to Delgado, to improve the economic conditions of black voters’ lives. Marc Lamont Hill clashed with Delgado over that point, but conceded that there is a “sense of paternalism” in the Democratic party for African-Americans. After some back-and-forth about the White House having parties while the economy is still doing poorly, which Delgado called “insensitive,” Hannity brought up Senator Rand Paul giving a speech at Howard University,

The sequester may have many across the country singing the blues, but for President Obama, it was all about Memphis Soul. In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." After saying the United States needs to “equip our citizens with the skills and training” to fill jobs in manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, Obama said, “And that has to start at the earliest possible age.”

Although the first votes on gun -control legislation have yet to be cast, by some measures the National Rifle Association has already won. The NRA claims that the president’s efforts have triggered a fundraising surge and boosted its membership from 4 million to nearly 5 million.

"There was some hope that once the Supreme Court ruled in July, and then once an election occurred there would be a sense that, ´This is the law of the land, let´s get on board, let´s make this work.´"
