| Orlando, Fla. - George Zimmerman sued NBC on Thursday, claiming he was defamed when the network edited his 911 call to police after the shooting of Trayvon Martin to make it sound like he was racist. The former neighborhood watch volunteer filed the lawsuit seeking an undisclosed amount of money in Seminole County, outside Orlando. Also named in the complaint were three reporters covering the story for NBC or an NBC-owned television station. The complaint said the airing of the edited call has inflicted emotional distress on Zimmerman, making him fear for his life and causing him

Comments: He´s trampling on their First Amendment rights.

He should also sue Obama, Jackson, Sharpton & Spike Lee. They all contributed to the racial hysteria. And don´t forget the Obama buddies = New black Panthers for the bounty ´dead or alive´.
Next up would be Crump & Parks, the DAs ofc. and lots more.
This has been a travesty of justice.

From NBC: There was no intent to portray Mr. Zimmerman unfairly," she said. "We intend to vigorously defend our position in court.
Translation: NBC is preparing to offer a settlement because they know their goose is cooked. At this point the argument is about whether NBC pays what? One Mil? 10 Mil? 100 Mil?

Never in my life have I seen such a disgusting display of self-righteousness, lies, propaganda, and judicial incompetence all for the sake of race-baiting. It´s only topped by Travon´s loathsome parents´ ostentatious displays of "grief" while holding hands and pretending to be together so they can milk every available dime from their son´s death.
I hope a major settlement from NBC is only the beginning of the comeuppance due the whole race-baiting industry. A plague on all their houses!

There was certainly malice intended by NBC in this case. They wanted to portray Zimmerman as a racist and generally damage him in any way they could. No ´Absence of Malice´ here.
This is pure libel and a good jury will give him a huge settlement.

The MSM also guaranteed that the American electorate could not make a fair appraisal of Obama and Romney. I have long argued that suing them is the only way to start bringing this corruption down. Complaining about "bias" has proven to be time and breath utterly wasted. They are manifestly corrupt. Take them to court for their crimes against the truth.

Of course NBC will try to defend vigorously the civil suit. They may be on the hook for criminal charges too. Last thing they want is to have the civil record contain evidence that will burn them on the criminal side.
Personally, I hope Zimmerman and his lawyers are successful on both fronts. NBC is a despicable organization, IMHO, and it deserves to lose its broadcast license among other penalties.

Freedom of speech: News papers, TV, Radio, etc have every right to write or say whatever they want, in any way they want be it truth or fiction.
Libel: defamation by written or printed words, pictures, or in any form other than by spoken words or gestures.
Slander: defamation by oral utterance rather than by writing, pictures, etc.
Zimmerman has been defamed in both venues. First by NBC and the news print which he has every right to go after on the principle of Libel.
He has also been defamed by the likes of Sharpton and his ilk on the principle of Slander.
It´s in Zimmerman´s corner to prove there was no truth in the allegations of racism which probably will be possible and he should reap a good harvest. Right now he has an extremely biased constituency to confront in his upcoming trial.
God willing, he will win that also.

Any civil lawyers out there?? I have a law degree and license, but I mainly did criminal prosecution and administrative law. I can´t recall the standards for libel. IIRC, only "public figures" have to prove "actual malice". Ordinary folks like Zimm only have to prove that the defendant intentionally(?) published false information and the plaintiff suffered damage as a result. I also recall something about "false light", ie publishing stuff that may technically be truthful but that paints a false picture of the plaintiff. NBC could be cooked either way, I can think of no benign motive for editing out the dispatcher´s question to Zimm. And of course NBC will do their best to settle, hopefully it will cost them enough to hurt.

I was wondering about that as well, #57 (though I´m no lawyer).
I´d have to wonder also if NBC will attempt to hide behind the ´public figure´ defense, though I can only see that as an epic fail, since Zimmerman may be in that category now, he certainly wasn´t at the time of the incident, and it was NBC who made the man a pariah.
Burn, NBC, burn!

This case will end badly either way. if zimmerman loses, blacks will feel empowered to attack at will any white who happens to be walking more or less in their direction. if zimmerman wins, the blacks will riot and many innocent people will die.
in the end it will be a better, more just outcome if zimmerman wins. no one should feel they have the right to initiate an assault on someone because you think they are follwing you, let alone to pin them down and smash their head on the pavement.

Irrelevant if your´re a thug , a hood , a career criminal who just got out of prison , if you´re black , you´re to be protected by media . The media wing of the socialist party cannot take ANY chances rubbing that precious black vote the wrong way , and they know how volatile it can get . Just look at the riots . Think of this as a precedent setting moment in the attack on government controlled, war controlled media. Racism, their robotic shouting of it, is just one of the Diane Sawyers robots cruel weapons against the people. Zimmerman goes to court and thereby gets lots of national attention from all the other robots. We can´t all go to court. We can attack each crappy news droid as often as possible and make their lives miserable. Nobody attacks the Diane Sawyers for their daily brainwashing, not a soul opposes the commie View, and so many other shows. It´s time each aware citizen focused criticism on the actual people, the shows, the companies, even the sponsors who don´t seem to care. We only look to the greedy Congress for help that is not ever coming. Boehner, imagine, is right there in the midst of Obama´s dictatorship, and he says nothing. Does not speak out for less government, no more taxes, less awful regulations, says nothing. And Boehner is the most important person on our side ??? We need more Bachmanns everywhere, more Palins, more Michelle Malkins, more Mark Steyns, we need constant criticizing from citizen and elected alike. They all have to attack each media lie. Last, we need our own unionized newspeople like Hannity, Rush OReilly, Glenn, Huckabee to attacke their so called colleagues, the commie, statist brainwasher like Diane Sawyer and Brokaw. Attack them challege them on the air daily.

Horrific crimes aside, I object to ´designer´ legislation with names like Megan´s Law, Rachel´s Law, Leah´s Law, etc. etc.
In this case I make an exception - George Zimmerman should lay waste to NBC and there should be a ´Richard Jewell´ law enabling targets of media bias and character assassination to fast-track their counter-claims.

The first soldier to survive after losing all four limbs in the Iraq war has received a double-arm transplant. Brendan Marrocco had the operation on Dec. 18 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, his father said Monday. The 26-year-old Marrocco, who is from New York City, was injured by a roadside bomb in 2009. He also received bone marrow from the same dead donor who supplied his new arms. That novel approach is aimed at helping his body accept the new limbs with minimal medication to prevent rejection. Source name must be spelled out.

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Sen. John McCain says he doesn´t understand the threats from some of his Republican colleagues to filibuster a bill on background checks to buy guns. "I don´t understand it," the Arizona Republican said on Sunday of the threat coming from Sen. Rand Paul,Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee and nine other Republicans. "The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.” "What are we afraid of? ... If this issue is as important as we all think it is, why not take ... it up and debate?"

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson, considered by some to be a potential Republican contender for president, apologized to Johns Hopkins University for the "poorly chosen words" he used in expressing his opposition to gay marriage last month.“I am sorry for any embarrassment this has caused,” Carson said in the letter, reported in New York Magazine.(Snip) "Although I do believe marriage is between a man and a woman, there are much less offensive ways to make that point. I hope all will look at a lifetime of service over some poorly chosen words.” Carson will remain as commencement speaker at Johns Hopkins,

On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

Susan Patton, the Princeton alumna who became famous for her letter urging Ivy League women to use their college years to find a mate, has been denounced as a traitor to feminism, to coeducation, to the university ideal. But really she’s something much more interesting: a traitor to her class. Her betrayal consists of being gauche enough to acknowledge publicly a truth that everyone who’s come up through Ivy League culture knows intuitively —

Los Angeles — Some people have had it with TV. They´ve had enough of the 100-plus channel universe. They don´t like timing their lives around network show schedules. They´re tired of $100-plus monthly bills. A growing number of them have stopped paying for cable and satellite TV service, and don´t even use an antenna to get free signals over the air. (Snip) Last month, the Nielsen Co. started labeling people in this group "Zero TV" households, because they fall outside the traditional definition of a TV home. There are 5 million of these residences in the U.S., up from

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Beyonce and Jay-Z celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in Cuba this week. The couple, who married on April 4, 2008, took in the sights of Old Havana, visited a school, dined on a rooftop terrace and strolled the fan-filled streets in their island best.(snip).The power couple declined to answer journalists´ questions about their visit to the island nation, but some outlets are reporting that the moguls are there as tourists, though that would be illegal because of the half-century embargo the U.S. has on the Communist country. However, the Miami Herald said Washington has issued special licenses for
