| The Egyptian army has deployed tanks and armoured troop carriers outside the presidential palace in Cairo after clashes between supporters and opponents of President Mohammed Morsi left five dead and 644 injured. But, despite their presence, there are reports of a fresh outbreak of stone-throwing between the two sides. Egypt is seeing growing unrest over a controversial draft constitution. The government insists that a referendum will go ahead this month. The head of Egypt´s Republican Guard said the forces deployed outside the presidential palace on Thursday had been sent there to separate supporters and opponents of President Morsi.

Compare the deployment of military hardware now under Morsi to the deployment before under Mubarek. At the time of the deployment under Mubarek, there wasn´t any one thing he did to the people that justified the rebellion. They just lumped justification for revolt into Mubarek being a generally "evil dictator". The military basically just hung around and made nice with the rebellious citizens.
So now we have the pro Caliphate dictator who certainly DID do something to the people by doing an Obamaesque decree of, "laws don´t apply to me so suck an egg". The military actually DID move against the citizenry and people died. Wonder if the Egyptian citizens would have preferred to keep status quo under Mubarek? Now it´s worse. The silence of the pubs through this whole Middle East upheavel, aided and abetted by bamster, is amazing. McCain even piled on, helping the Islamists. Good going McCain. Not.

What I read about the original egyptian revolt was that they had a very high unemployment rate....and a lot of people with advanced degrees were included in that unemployment group. The old saying was that revolution begins in the middle class....the ones rich enough to be educated but too poor to be happy.

I studied abroad in Cairo during 04-05, and left about the time Mubarak started his last campaign. There were demonstrations going on all over the place because he had a habit of jailing his opposition. Made it hard to get to my apt sometimes as I lived three blocks from Tahrir square, and I could see the demonstrations from my balcony. He always put armored police officers and vehicles around the areas where demonstrations were going to happen, but those were generally peaceful. Mubarak was definitely better than Morsi. It´s because of Mubarak that the Muslim Brotherhood was kicked out of Egypt in the first place. (They went to Sudan next and we know what a wonderful job they did there.)

The team found that being left alone to breed on its own was key. The discovery raises hope that other damaged reefs could ´regenerate´. The new research shows that an isolated reef off the northwest coast of Australia that was severely damaged by a period of warming in 1998.
