Mexico´s Supreme Court rules
in favor of same-sex marriage

Mexico City – Mexico´s Supreme Court has ruled that a law in southern Oaxaca state that bans same-sex marriages is unconstitutional, paving the way for same-sex couples to marry in that state and possibly in the rest of Mexico. In a unanimous decision on Wednesday, the tribunal struck down a Oaxaca state law that declares that "one of the purposes of marriage is the perpetuation of the species." The court said in its ruling that to condition marriages to the union of one man and one woman "violates the principle of equality." Currently, same-sex marriage is only legally allowed in Mexico City,

I thought that Karl Rove and W had assured us that Mexicans are culturally conservative and therefore we should import them by the millions. On the bright side, the ruling should help suppress the Mexican birth rate.

I have to admit this is a surprise. Mostly Catholic Mexico going for same sex marriage?

What´s next? Abortion on demand?

Looks like Mexico is the next country to get Californicated.

$6, it wasn´t necesarily "Catholic" Mexico that made this ruling, but the Mexican Supreme Court, which legalized gay pseudomarriage, like abortion, in the face of huge disapproval by the people of Mexico.

It´s the legacy of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), the party that held power in Mexico--—under a succession of names—--for 71 years. The PRI is a member of the Socialist International, as is the rival Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD), making Mexico a a nation whose two major parties belong to the same international socialist movement.

Malaysia - Malaysia said today that satellite images of suspected debris from a missing jet were yet another false lead, and debunked a report the plane had flown on for hours after losing contact – leaving the nearly week-old mystery no closer to being solved. China had sparked talk of a breakthrough in the riddle of the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) jet with satellite images of three large floating objects near where flight 370 with 239 people on board lost contact on Saturday, en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. But Vietnamese and Malaysian planes that searched the area in the South China Sea today found no sign of wreckage of the

Washington - A street prostitute in Dallas may make as little as $5 per sex act. But pimps can take in $33,000 a week in Atlanta, where the sex business brings in an estimated $290 million per year. It is not nearly as lucrative in Denver, where prostitution and other elements of an underground trade are worth about $40 million. Those are some of the findings of a landmark government-sponsored report on the size and structure of the sex economy, including massage parlors, brothels and expensive escort services. The study also found that four in five pimps elect not to deal drugs and that little money trades hands in the child pornography business.

A Manhattan trader was killed Tuesday morning by a speeding Long Island Rail Road commuter train, marking at least the seventh suicide of a financial professional this year. Edmund (Eddie) Reilly, 47, a trader at Midtown’s Vertical Group, jumped in front of an LIRR train at 6 a.m. near the Syosset train station. He was declared dead at the scene. Reilly’s identity was confirmed by Salvatore Arena, an LIRR spokesperson, who said an investigation into the incident was continuing. Passengers on the west-bound express train told MTA investigators they saw a man standing by the tracks before he jumped in

Washington - The White House has been withholding for five years more than 9,000 top-secret documents sought by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence for its investigation into the now-defunct CIA detention and interrogation program, even though President Barack Obama hasn’t exercised a claim of executive privilege. In contrast to public assertions that it supports the committee’s work, the White House has ignored or rejected offers in multiple meetings and in letters to find ways for the committee to review the records, a McClatchy investigation has found. The significance of the materials couldn’t be learned.

Washington - Ten months after the Sept. 11 attacks, the nation’s surveillance court delivered a ruling that intelligence officials consider a milestone in the secret history of American spying and privacy law. Called the “Raw Take” order — classified docket No. 02-431 — it weakened restrictions on sharing private information about Americans, according to documents and interviews. Frustrated researchers have pointed out that China missed a golden opportunity to exploit the capability of its satellites in the search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 was hundreds of miles off course, traveling in the opposite direction from its original destination and had stopped sending identifying transponder codes before it disappeared, a senior Malaysian Air Force official told CNN Tuesday. If correct, these are ominous signs that could call into question whether someone in the cockpit might have deliberately steered the plane away from its intended destination, a former U.S. aviation investigator said. (Snip) A power failure would have turned off the main transponder and its backup, and the plane could have flown for more than an hour, he said.
