Yes to immigration. Hell No, to illegal immigration!

What should we call it, "Compassionate Capitulation" or "Altruistic Amnesty?"

This is the son of the Bush who ignored the second half of Simpson Mazzoli in the post Reagan years? This is not the family to lead the discussion on this topic.

If these illegals were white, they would be shown no compassion nor benevolence. White people are expected to follow the law; if not, there are consequences. Conversely, white guilt allows non-whites to essentially be scofflaws. In fact, we have a scofflaw in chief who clearly trades in white guilt for most of his power.

It´s like the problem with stray cats - you want to help and be compassionate, but we now have reached the point where we have a few hundred. They are fighting, crapping on the carpet and costing us thousands of dollars in cat food. At some point we have to say no to more stray cats. No one will ever learn if we just let the ones that came through illegally get away with it. We will just keep accumulating more.

OK, bring in the Irish.

Enforce the immigration laws. Send officials who refuse to enforce the law to jail.

We have not enforced the laws on the books for decades because the funding has always been too low. And executive orders now make the laws meaningless anyway.

Selective enforcement rots a society.

So talk of a new law doesn´t impress me. Calling it Reform doesn´t impress me. The trouble is in Washington and it must be fixed there or not at all. It isn´t from Mexican villages or with the guy cutting your lawn.

Without enforcement there is no way of amending laws to improve anything. Kids figure that out quickly and drive parents and teachers crazy. But the US can´t grasp the point?

Bush is saying be nice. Good advice in most activities. But being nice isn´t the problem.

He´s right. There is not a chance in hell that we will ever be rounding up illegals and shipping them home. Logistically it´s not possible and it won´t even be attempted. What we need to do is secure the borders, create a social security card that can´t be made on a street corner, and round up criminals including gang members and send them home. Then we need a permanent green card deal for people who came here illegally but are good citizens - not citizenship, but permanent residency.

Thanks to his 8 years of doing nothing, millions of Mexicans entered illegaly.
How about we show compassion to Lithuanians, Ukrainians, Polish Irish and Chechs ?
How about 20 million of them being allowed in while we turn our heads?

Lordy, Lordy. Here is Mr. Bush advocating for his brother´s 2016 run and more of the compassionate conservative pablum that so many of us fell for the last time. What is this, a New World Order?

If so, one should just go visit southern California or the Arizona and Texas borders to see what kind of World Order is being implemented. And it ain´t a new world order, it´s a Third World Order.

Benevolent immigration?

They are already allowing about one million immigrants to immigrate to the USA every year legally. That is in addition to the massive, probably 20 million person illegal alien population that keeps growing each year.

The problem is instead of highly skilled immigrants who really have new ideas, the vast majority of the immigrants they are allowing to become permanent resident aliens are very low skilled people from socialist oriented countries who earn very low wages if they can even find a job, and who need to be subsidized by American taxpayer provided social welfare programs from the get-go.

Those are not people who are going to vote for "benevolent" but stupid Republicans in any numbers.

Let´s not forget GW allowed 8 milion immigrants, many of whom were illegal to come here to work.

We need an immigration freeze until Americans are employed.

George Bush doesn´t have to live among these Mexican invaders. He lives on his ranch surrounded by secret service agents. The gang violence, the over run hopital ER´s and over crowded schools with anchor babies doesn´t affect him in the least.

We need to start by enforcing the current laws, and the problem is solved.

My company was recently purchased and as part of the integration process I had to show my US Passport to prove I was a citizen. No proof, no job (though I will have 35 years of service with the new company on day 1).

Make people prove they are citizens for jobs (or have other appropriate documentation), and most importantly for government assistence and to vote.

Really, how hard is this to do, or to understand? (Unless there is something in it for you.)
