Ashley Judd exploring Senate run

| Ashley Judd vs. Mitch McConnell? It might not be as far-fetched as you think. The Hollywood movie star and eighth-generation Kentuckian is seriously exploring a 2014 run for the Senate to take on the powerful Republican leader, four people familiar with the matter tell POLITICO. In recent weeks, Judd has spoken with Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) about the possibility of a run, has discussed a potential bid with a Democratic pollster and has begun to conduct opposition research on herself to see where she’s most vulnerable in the Bluegrass State, sources say.

There are many things that US is following Japanese footsteps. This is one of them. Japanese political party brought the "stars" to get the number of the seats solely because they are known just like Judd. Besides, the other side is the perfect old outdated senator whom they will claim that is out of touch. Japan is full of part-timers and USA will be full of part-timers who work less than 30 hours a week. And Obamacare will cause forever red-ink for USA, just like medical cost is causing forever red-ink for Japan.

I´m pretty close to believing the only way out of it is through it. Perhaps our media run government should sink to the most ridiculous level possible. Meanwhile the story almost writes itself doesn´t it? Woo hoo Senator Judd! I can almost already hear Kerry, Franken, and whathisname from New York calling her ´´my good friend from Kentucky´´. Jeeze Louise the people we send to DC.

She has suffered from depression, along with millions of others. I wouldn´t vote for her because of her political beliefs or what I know of them so far, but are we really back in the Dark Ages where someone who has been treated for depression (and is leading a normal and successful life now) can´t achieve or run for public office without being stigmatized? She has been open and public about her health problem so what is there to "cover"?

OK...people. I don´t care if she has suffered from depression. Many have. However, that said, she is a true whack job. Have you ever watched her at a race when her husband wins...what an ego. It is all about her. He practically ignores her cause she is making a fool of herself. I think Washington has enough people who think the entire world revolves around them. I want someone elected who cares about the country and freedom for the people who live and work here. And, I don´t care how many degrees she has from wherever. Have family with many degrees from "good" places....no common sense, at all.

WASHINGTON — The White House says the mother of a Newtown shooting victim will deliver the weekly presidential radio and Internet address. President Barack Obama typically gives the talk, focusing on a topic that´s in the news or a policy the White House is pushing. This week, Obama has asked Francine Wheeler to deliver the address instead. Wheeler and her husband, David, lost their 6-year-old son Ben in the December schoolhouse shooting in Newtown, Conn. White House spokesman Jay Carney says Obama believes the voices of Newtown families have been critical to progress on gun control.

In 1965, disgusted by what he viewed as confiscatory taxation by the British authorities -- a supertax instituted by the Labor government was taking 95 percent of top earners´ income -- George Harrison wrote a bitter song from the perspective of a maniacal tax collector: If you drive a car, I´ll tax the street, If you try to sit, I´ll tax your seat. If you get too cold I´ll tax the heat, If you take a walk, I´ll tax your feet. But even Harrison´s "Taxman" never conceived of a levy on the weather, something currently being instituted in Maryland.

The Fox News Channel host said that Jay-Z and Beyoncé help effect change in the Cuban regime by showing average Cubans how Americans live in a capitalist society. As examples of self-parody go, you can’t do much better than this. As the story of Philadelphia “house of horrors” abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell explodes on the internet and makes its way gradually onto the radars of the nation’s newsroom editors, questions have arisen about why this sensational story never received the wall-to-wall treatment it appears to merit. From conservatives and liberals alike, the universal horror that the Gosnell story has inspired is palpable. But some have suggested that the story is politically inconvenient for absolutist pro-choice activists. It simply does not fit the narrative,

Our national thoughts about illegal immigrants are a complex set of sentiments indeed. We value their work ethics and contributions to America within reason, but are wary of the potential cost of their health care or welfare in tax payer money. We have empathy for their situation, but prefer our visitors to speak English. And very few Americans trust the border. Only 1 percent - yes, that’s a one - think the U.S. border with Mexico is “totally secure,” this according to a new NBC News/Wall Street journal poll released Thursday. Another 17 percent

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius Friday declared America a violent country, and she blamed the media, Hollywood and street crime for the Wild West culture. In a House budget hearing, Sebelius also said that violence in American culture has a "desensitization" effect that can push the mentally ill over the edge. "I am concerned certainly about the pervasive culture of violence both throughout media, in the entertainment industry, in movies, on TV, in video games, but also on our street corners," she told the House Ways and Means Committee. She said some children "live in extraordinary violence."

The illegal immigrant who was drunk driving when he hit and dragged a Milford man to his death has been ruled incompetent to stand trial. Judge Janet Kinton-Walker says Nicolas Guaman´s "unique cultural background" and language barrier means that he doesn´t understand the court process. The court also said that he lacks the ability to consult with his attorney properly. The judge ordered Guaman´s attorney to find an interpreter and educate him on the court process. In August 2011, 23-year-old Matthew Denice was hit and dragged to death while riding his motorcycle. FOX 25 spoke to Maureen Maloney,

Varebrook immediately called the school district in their town of Union Grove, Wisc., and they apologized, saying that the definition was completely wrong.

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.

On Thursday, in the midst of ongoing national debate over prospective gun control and comprehensive immigration legislation, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said that he didn’t need the approval of a majority of his own party to move forward with legislation. Referring to the so-called Hastert Rule, named after former House Speaker Denny Hastert (R-IL), which dictated that House leadership not bring up any bill for a vote without the support of a majority of the majority party, Boehner said, “Listen: It was never a rule to begin with.” Then, realizing the gravity of admitting
