Navy Secretary Ray Mabus on Monday honored four members of a Marine special operations team in a rare public ceremony for the covert forces. In a ceremony at Camp Pendleton, California, Mabus awarded Marine Sergeant William Soutra Jr. the Navy Cross, the Navy´s highest honor and the military´s second highest honor, for tending to the wounded while guiding the platoon to safety during an attack in Afghanistan´s Helmand Province in July 2010 that spanned over two days. Three others on his team, including a Navy corpsman, were given Silver Stars. Scroll down for video

No, they were not "given" Silver Stars.
Sheesh.

Semper Fi, and thanks.

BTW, that blue camo is beyond ridiculous. Either give ´em the standard green or desert camo or put ´em back in dungarees.

The blue cammies are the Navy´s way of looking cool and up to date. Camouflage blue - same color as the ocean sailors risk falling overboard into. Really smart.

These are fine men and great warriors.

But your average G.I. Joe is not a happy camper.

Most successful dictators are careful to keep in good graces with the military.

Bad mistake not to.

New Poll Finds CNN Far Less

It used to be that whenever an important news story broke, cable television viewers would quickly turn to CNN for must-see coverage of what was happening. However, according to a poll conducted regarding the five-day coverage of the Boston Marathon bombing, that is definitely no longer the case. The survey, which was conducted by the liberal Huffington Post website and the international marketing agency YouGov, determined that former titan CNN came in as far less trustworthy than Fox News over which was the most believable cable news channel.During the poll, which was based on interviews of 1,000 adults

The Environmental Protection Agency’s revised draft assessment of an Alaska mine project cites research from environmental consultants who admitted falsifying a report in an environmental lawsuit. The EPA’s new review of the potential Pebble Mine in Bristol Bay, Alaska, relied on research from Stratus Consulting and Ann Maest, the company’s managing scientist. Stratus recently admitted to providing false statements in a decades-long $19 billion lawsuit against the oil company Chevron. Maest and Stratus claimed earlier this month that they had been misled by a plaintiffs’ lawyer when they provided an environmental report detailing the damage done

"Three-strike" lifers get a

California prisons are so overcrowded that the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the conditions amount to cruel and unusual punishment. The state is caught between a tight budget and its "three strikes" law, which imposes a life sentence after convictions. Last Fall, voters approved a plan to release some of those lifers. Proposition 36 allows three-strikers to ask judges to let them out early. Forty-six-year-old Aaron Collins thought he´d only leave prison in a coffin. "Life meant that you would die in prison. Life was life," Collins said. His crime? Selling a small amount of marijuana to other inmates.

BOSTON- Female DNA was found on at least one of the bombs that exploded at the Boston Marathon but it was unclear what that means, The Wall Street Journal reported. Earlier, CNN reported the FBI has interviewed "Misha," a man who allegedly had a radicalizing influence on suspected Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev. The Journal, quoting U.S. officials briefed on the investigation, reported Monday it had yet to be determined whether a woman helped the two alleged bombers, brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. The Journal said investigators collected DNA from Katherine Russell, Tamerlan Tsarnaev´s widow, at her parents´ home

Forty two days ago, on March 18, 2013, abortionist Kermit Gosnell went on trial, charged with the grisly murder of multiple babies and a patient. Yet, in the seven weeks that followed, ABC News has permitted no coverage, discussion or mention of the case, not even a single utterance of Dr. Gosnell’s name. But that’s not due to lack of interest in shocking criminal cases. Over the same 42 days, the Media Research Center found that ABC’s Good Morning America has aired 41 stories — about one per day — on other sensational criminal cases, including the Amanda Knox

On Monday, NBC News Chief White House Correspondent Chuck Todd expressed his vexation with President Barack Obama’s criticisms of the media during his address at the White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday. Todd said that Obama’s scattershot critique of the superficiality of all news media should have been aimed at a “small group” of media outlets. “I think heard the president express a little more frustration with what he thinks the media landscape is and maybe let on to what he doesn’t like about current the media landscape more so than we usually do,” Todd began.

Lt. Col. Matthew Dooley isn´t the one who has to hang his head low. That honor goes to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Army Gen. Martin E. Dempsey. Dooley is in the doghouse with the political, knocked-kneed Dempsey over his approved teachings about militant Islam. That´s right, approved teachings. As a result, Dooley, considered a gifted officer with a bright future, has been handed a one-way ticket out of the Army unless an appeal he´s filing succeeds. Michelle Obama did not walk the E!-streamed red carpet before tonight´s White House Correspondents´ Dinner — she was already at home, of course — so our first glimpse of her black Monique Lhuillier gown came later, once dinner started. And damn does she look good. This is a sexier look on her than usual, with a sheer lace panel over her decolletage and a molded bustier-style top. She very wisely chose a dress that photographs well while she´s sitting down, Schiaparelli-style, with elaborate beading along her collarbone and fitted cap sleeves that flatter her arms. Washington - America´s blacks voted at a higher rate than other minority groups in 2012 and by most measures surpassed the white turnout for the first time, reflecting a deeply polarized presidential election in which blacks strongly supported Barack Obama while many whites stayed home. Had people voted last November at the same rates they did in 2004, when black turnout was below its current historic levels, Republican Mitt Romney would have won narrowly, according to an analysis conducted for The Associated Press. Several House Democrats are calling on Congress to recognize that climate change is hurting women more than men, and could even drive poor women to "transactional sex" for survival. The resolution, from Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and a dozen other Democrats, says the results of climate change include drought and reduced agricultural output. It says these changes can be particularly harmful for women. "[F]ood insecure women with limited socioeconomic resources may be vulnerable to situations such as sex work, transactional sex, and early marriage that put them at risk for HIV, STIs, unplanned pregnancy, and poor reproductive health,"

Over five years after Barack Obama won the Iowa caucuses and demolished the notion that white voters wouldn’t support a black presidential candidate, progress for other African-American politicians remains elusive. Even as the country elected and re-elected Obama, making it seem increasingly unremarkable to have a black family in the White House, African-Americans are scarce and bordering on extinct in the U.S. Senate and governorships. The president is indeed exceptional - but in the wrong sense of the phrase as it applies to other black politicians. Consider what has taken place, or not taken place,

In the lore of the ancient Romans, Horatius was a soldier who single-handedly fought off an invading army. The Etruscans had attacked in order to impose a despot on Rome and, by holding them back while his comrades destroyed the bridge that was the only practical route to the city, this single warrior saved the free republic. Obamacare is certainly the bridge via which the forces of despotism plan to “fundamentally transform” the United States, and a decorated Iraq veteran named Matt Sissel may be the Horatius who prevents them from crossing.

Speaking on MSNBC´s "Morning Joe" program on the 6-month anniversary of the deadly storm, the Republican governor said presidential politics were the last thing on his mind as he toured storm-devastated areas with Obama last fall. "The president has kept every promise he´s made," said Christie, widely considered a potential candidate for the republican presidential nomination in 2016. "I think he´s done a good job. He kept his word."
