Jovan Belcher’s grieving teammates on the Kansas City Chiefs refused to blame guns for his horrifying murder-suicide. "If you have daughters, you should (have a gun),” Chiefs defensive lineman Shaun Smith said Monday. “You have to protect yourself. You work so hard to get to where you at, I´ll be damned if I’ll just let someone take it from me.”Linebacker Brandon Siler, who had Thanksgiving dinner with Belcher, also had no problems with guns. “Well, a majority of people own one, especially in the places where they´re legal. Most of the time they´re for self defense or sport,” he said. Headline resplit by staff

Anyone who isn´t a simpleton would refuse to blame guns for Belcher´s murder-suicide. It´s sad that the anti-gun lefty talking heads don´t focus more on improving mental health screening, services and delivery when they discuss this and similar tragic stories, but then their political agendas are much more important. Besides, complex issues make their heads hurt.

Drug/steroid abuse, rage, anger, cultural acceptance of misogyny and domestic violence are all real problems. Guns are tools.
Last year, more people were killed in bath tub falls and car accidents than died from firearms. No one is talking about banning them.
Why not just make murder illegal? Oh, wait....

If the libtoids were so serious about ´gun violence´ they could start by going into the ghettos and taking them out of the hands of the gangs. But they don´t, do they? So now you know the REAL agenda behind ´gun control´.

I thought I saw Bob Costas/Katie Couric (they´re the same person aren´t they?) rant on about how the reckless behavior of a K.C. linebacker resulted in the deaths of himself and an innocent friend...yes,in 2000 Derrick Thomas was speeding recklessly on the highway when he killed himself and a passenger in his car...IF ONLY people did not have such easy access to cars it´s safe to say both would be alive today....did you see it too??

As Rush stated yesterday, OJ didn´t use a gun and Nicole and Ron are just as dead.
FTA..."You work so hard to get to where you at..."
Didn´t some journalist get into trouble for quoting from a zippy speech where the great orator dropped all of his "g´s" and actually writing the words the way zippy said them without correcting his spelling? Wasn´t the journalist called a racist for doing that? I guess the folks at the Daily News must be racists too.

Obviously he used a handgun to kill his wife and himself. Probably a semiautomatic, maybe with an extended clip, so what? If gun haters did managed to declare ALL legal gun owners criminals overnight by another supreme court fiasco, what then? Even if most turn over their guns because they DO obey laws, even illegal poorly thought out ones, many guns will remain uncollected. 100% of the guns owned by criminals will remain in their hands the rest will be hidden. As a result of gun haters actions, more women will be raped, robbed and murdered because they were denied the most effective means of defending themselves. You have to ask the next gun hater you meet, ´why do you hate women so much that you would subject them to these horrors?´

Some of Manhattan’s wealthiest neighborhoods are exploding in a wave of violent crime that hearkens back to the bad old days when people feared going out at night, according to NYPD data obtained by The Post. Chelsea, Gramercy Park, TriBeCa, SoHo and Midtown South all posted a frightening rise in rapes in the first three months of 2013 compared with the same period in 2012. Felony assaults in the usually peaceful West Village nearly tripled, the new crime statistics show. Greenwich Village’s 6th Precinct tied the Rockaways’ grimy 100th Precinct for the city’s biggest year-to-date overall

A career criminal who stole a truck containing President Obama´s audio equipment was sentenced Thursday to seven years in federal prison. Sentencing guidelines called for a term of about three years, but Eric Brown of Richmond, Va., agreed to the longer sentence to avoid prosecution for 14 similar truck thefts in three localities. However, he could still face charges in Stafford County, which did not join Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico counties in the agreement. Brown pleaded guilty in January to theft of government property. "The theft of government property is a serious offense,"

President Barack Obama’s advocacy organization Organizing for Action (OFA) raised over $4.8 million from first-quarter donors, including the chairman of a major lobbying firm, wealthy progressives affiliated with the secretive Democracy Alliance, and a member of popular 1990s hip-hop group the Fugees, according to a list of first quarter contributors released by the group today. OFA has agreed to disclose limited information about its $250-and-up donors on a quarterly basis. The group, which evolved out of President Barack Obama’s campaign arm, had previously been criticized for evading mandatory donor disclosure by registering as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit group.

MOSCOW – Russia slapped sanctions on a pair of former top Bush administration officials, two former commanders of the Guantanamo detention center, and 14 other Americans in retaliation for a set of human rights sanctions the Obama administration imposed on a number of Russian citizens on Friday. In a statement, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said it was forced to respond to the American “blackmail,” which it warned would harm US-Russia relations. The Kremlin had prepared a list of over 100 American officials in advance of Friday’s announcement, warning its response would be proportionate to the Obama administration’s actions.

Archbishop Waclaw Depo unveiled the statue of the Polish pontiff Saturday in the southern city of Czestochowa, the home of this predominantly Catholic nation´s most famous pilgrimage site, the Jasna Gora monastery. The white fiberglass figure rises about five stories, or nearly 14 meters (more than 45 feet), on a hill overlooking the city. AUGUSTA, Ga. — Tiger Woods was assessed a two-stroke penalty Saturday for his drop in the second round of the Masters, but was not disqualified. Below is the Masters’ statement on the decision: “Yesterday afternoon, the Rules Committee was made aware of a possible Rules violation that involved a drop by Tiger Woods on the 15th hole. “In preparation for his fifth shot, the player dropped his ball in close proximity to where he had played his third shot in apparent conformance with Rule 26. WALLOPS ISLAND, Va — On one of Virginia’s small barrier islands, a NASA facility that operates in relative obscurity outside scientific circles is preparing to be thrust into the spotlight. On Wednesday, Orbital Sciences Corp. plans to conduct the first test launch of its Antares rocket under a NASA program in which private companies deliver supplies to the International Space Station. If all goes as planned, the unmanned rocket’s practice payload will be vaulted into orbit from Wallops Island before burning up in the atmosphere on its return to Earth several months later. The goal of the launch isn’t

The shooting of a 34-year-old man Friday night pulled a crowd of angry people onto a chilly South Side street where they loudly called for retribution against the man suspected of the killing. About 100 residents of the apartment complex where Kevin Sanders was killed circled the front door of a building where the alleged shooter had holed up. The suspect, who police said had been shot in apparent retaliation, had gone there after the shooting. It´s not clear what set off the violence. Sanders, 34, had been shot about 11:10 p.m. in a courtyard between buildings in

Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

In Philadelphia, at a human abattoir on Lancaster Avenue, is where it ends, not where it starts. It starts with the perversion of language. It starts when the icons of a dissipated culture reduce a baby to a “fetus.” From there, Yeats’s blood-dimmed tide rolls rapidly in. Before long, a baby is not a person but a punishment, as President Barack Obama framed the matter in his familiar off-the-cuff iciness. Of course, to describe newborn children in their boundless possibilities and wonder would be to acknowledge, foremost, their humanity. That is why, instead, abortion enthusiasts must grope for words

Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), one of the architects of the Affordable Care Act, said on Tuesday that the healthcare law, set to go into full effect in less than eight months, is “probably the most complex piece of legislation ever passed by the United States Congress” and “is just beyond comprehension.” Rockefeller said he is concerned that early missteps with implementing the healthcare overhaul may cascade into confusion and chaos. The law, said Rockefeller, is “so complicated and if it isn’t done right the first time, it will just simply get worse.” Rockefeller’s consternation echoes comments made earlier this

They say they were just doing what the boss trained them to do. But eight former employees of a run-down West Philadelphia abortion clinic now face prison time for the work they did for Dr. Kermit Gosnell. Three have pleaded guilty to third-degree murder. And Gosnell, 72, is on trial in the deaths of a patient and seven babies allegedly born alive. In testimony at the capital murder trial this past month, an unlicensed doctor and untrained aides described long, chaotic days at the clinic. They said they performed grueling, often gruesome work for little more than minimum wage,

With President Obama, there’s always a catch. In the 2014 budget he announced last week, Obama proposed a more accurate way of calculating the inflation rate for annual cost-of-living increases in Social Security. It’s a technical change in pursuit of honesty and good government. And if adopted, it would cause benefits to grow more slowly, though almost imperceptibly so. Republican leaders in Congress ought to be delighted since they had “championed”—Obama’s word—the idea in the first place. Then came the catch. The president’s price for adopting this gentle reform was hundreds of billions in new tax increases.

On Thursday, in the midst of ongoing national debate over prospective gun control and comprehensive immigration legislation, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said that he didn’t need the approval of a majority of his own party to move forward with legislation. Referring to the so-called Hastert Rule, named after former House Speaker Denny Hastert (R-IL), which dictated that House leadership not bring up any bill for a vote without the support of a majority of the majority party, Boehner said, “Listen: It was never a rule to begin with.” Then, realizing the gravity of admitting

TALLAHASSEE - Picture this: You´re in the left lane of the interstate, driving a little below the speed limit, when some guy zips up behind you and swerves past you on the right. Then you notice the blue lights flashing. You´re savoring the satisfaction of seeing a trooper actually nab an aggressive driver — until you realize it´s you he´s pulling over. This could happen, if not very often, under a major transportation package expected to be taken up in the Senate Appropriations Committee next week. Introduced by Sen. A few hours after Margaret Thatcher´s death on Monday, the snarling deadbeats of the British underclass were gleefully rampaging through the streets of Brixton in South London, scaling the marquee of the local fleapit and hanging a banner announcing, "THE B@&$! LOS ANGELES — Jonathan Winters, the cherub-faced comedian whose breakneck improvisations and misfit characters inspired the likes of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, has died. He was 87. The Ohio native died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes, said Joe Petro III, a longtime family friend. Petro said Winters died of natural causes and was surrounded by family and friends. Winters was a pioneer of improvisational standup comedy, with an exceptional gift for mimicry, a grab bag of eccentric personalities and a bottomless reservoir of creative energy.

Hi. As you’ve probably noticed, I’m not the President. I’m just a citizen. And as a citizen, I’m here at the White House today because I want to make a difference and I hope you will join me. My name is Francine Wheeler. My husband David is with me. We live in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. David and I have two sons. Our older son Nate, soon to be 10 years old, is a fourth grader at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Our younger son, Ben, age six, was murdered in his first-grade classroom on December 14th.
