In ‘cliff’ talks, Obama on brink of disaster

| Right now, Republicans are running scared in the “fiscal cliff” standoff — and Democrats know it. As Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) crowed last week: “You can smell the winds. When so many Republicans say, ‘Hey, we’re going to have to give in to the Democrats,’ that’s how it works around here.” Congressional Republicans need to buck up — Obama and the Democrats are overplaying their hand. The Democrats think they are in a win-win situation. If they bully Republicans into agreeing to raise tax rates before the end of the year, they win —

Boehner will cave. He has a long history of caving...
The Republicans have the power, but they are afraid to use it. They may get some bad press...
I´m not optimistic that we will get a reasonable compromise.

I just think that if we ´go over the cliff´ so to speak, we´ll then have better clarity, once the dust settles. Playing chess in a dust storm prevents one from seeing well enough ahead to make sane moves, especially given the consistent weaknesses the Rs do, given their history and who´s in ´power´ (now THAT´S a joke!). We´ll have a better understanding of actual impact when those affects hit upon receiving the first payroll of the season, assuming Congress doesn´t play with that. Let it hit. Then let the IRS start coming out with the affects of Zerocare. Everything´s going up; I am seeing such affects in my end of year mailings of SS income, Medicare costs, Advantage costs, etc. All that will certainly provide clarity, from which the voting public can react.

The Government, collectively, brought us to this cliff over a number of decades and both parties are guilty. Tax hikes are not going to solve the problem and they all know it. Obama already has big plans to spend every penny of additional tax revenue. Boehner is an egotistical jackass just like Obama. This is nothing but political drama and the American people are the victims. Half of us get this and the rest are hust useful idiots.

I said this before, Boehner needs to go. He´s not very good at explaining the problems and fixes. He´s from old school. Let´s get Paul Ryan in to take his place. Paul is good.
Boehner will cave then cry.

Good Grief, WaPo still doesn´t acknowledge that the destruction is purposeful. It has been 4 long Miserable years, and they cannot see the truth. Amazing!
bHo does not care about his legacy, it is all about the destruction.

In a very rare interview, the former US president, 66, who has largely shied away from the public eye since leaving office, said that he was "confident the decisions were made the right way", as he reiterated his support for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Speaking ahead of the opening of the George W Bush Presidential Centre next week, Mr Bush told the Dallas Morning News (subscription) that he reflected on the "realities of the situation 10 years ago" – that the invasion of Iraq had cross-party support. Recently, The Daily Beast disgraced itself by providing a platform for communist Bill Ayers to spread unchallenged lies about his background in the Weather Underground terrorist organization, which is presently the subject of an exonerating new film by leftist actor Robert Redford. The film, The Company You Keep, is not unlike the prior whitewash of communism Redford presented in the 1973 film The Way We Were, co-starring fellow left-winger Barbra Streisand. Following in Redford’s footsteps, some of the biggest names in Hollywood have just released an equally mendacious portrait of radical Angela Davis

Republican members of the Gang of Eight know they’ll have a tough time selling comprehensive immigration reform to a significant number of conservatives. Of course some in the GOP are still panicked by last November’s election results and will be inclined to sign on to almost any deal. But many of the more conservative Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill will have to be convinced that the Gang’s proposal is an acceptable way to go. It won’t be easy. Starting this week, with the release of the bill, the Gang will launch an extensive public information campaign —

London-- John Kerry may not have noticed it, but a day of futile diplomatic gesticulation at the G-8 meeting here made it clear that a new Cold War is raging with some of the old usual suspects pitted against the United States and its allies. This time, though, the US appears in denial about the new Cold War waged under Russian leadership. Kerry is clinging to the illusion that membership of the G-8 has transformed Russia into a partner rather than an adversary. The secretary of state came to London to promote G-8 “consensus” on several issues

As you can read here, I’ve been following the horrific tale of “Dr.” Kermit Gosnell, the alleged Butcher of Philadelphia, ever since the story broke last year. In fact, in the guise of my crazy-lefty character, David Kahane, I wrote a big piece, “The Charnel House of Blackmun,” about it shortly after the grand jury issued its stomach-turning report on this latter-day Mengele‘s crimes. An excerpt: For us, a day without an abortion somewhere in this great land is like a day without a sermon on climate change: The world is a drab and bitter place,

In his push for gun control, President Obama has yet to deliver remarks in which he has not invoked the voices of the Newtown families, whose children were murdered in December shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Utah senator Mike Lee, one of the Senate’s most outspoken opponents of the proposed gun legislation, is now calling on a different set of voices as a part of his effort to defeat it. “Jim, from Louisiana, writes as follows,” Lee said in remarks Wednesday on the Senate floor, “‘I lived through the Los Angeles riots.

We’ve heard it over and over again, particularly on shows like Morning Joe. Anyone who thinks that the government is “coming to take your guns” is a paranoid loon, watching for black helicopters and guarding their sheep from soldiers. Unfortunately for those formerly right leaning, Second Amendment minded folks who bought into this story, reality has come screaming up from behind well ahead of schedule. Following the passage of “The SAFE Act” in New York State, Big Brother got busy pretty quickly grabbing up the guns. Of course nobody was reporting on it very much

Close your eyes and picture the scariest thing you can think of. Maybe it´s a giant spider or a giant Stay Puft marshmellow man or something that´s not even giant at all. Well, whatever it is, I guarantee it´s not nearly as scary as the real scariest thing in the world. That´s long-term unemployment. There are two labor markets nowadays. There´s the market for people who have been out of work for less than six months, and the market for people who have been out of work longer. The former is working pretty normally, and the latter is horribly dysfunctional.

WACO -- Clive Doyle is a pleasant-looking man of 72, with wavy graying hair. Australia lingers in his accent. He wore a leather jacket on the chilly recent afternoon when we spent more than an hour together at a picnic table in a Waco park. He was soft-spoken, articulate and seemingly very sane. Yet 20 years ago this Friday, this same man was one of only nine Branch Davidians to survive the internationally televised inferno on the Texas prairie. Killed that day near Waco were cult leader David Koresh and 73 followers,

Authorities on Saturday searched Seagoville storage units as they focused their investigation into the slayings of the Kaufman County district attorney, his wife and a top prosecutor on a former justice of the peace. Eric Lyle Williams is now the prime suspect in the murder of District Attorney Mike McLelland, his wife, Cynthia, and Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse, law enforcement authorities say. (Snip) Whatever authorities saw inside the home allowed them to go to a judge and secure search warrants for Williams’ home. Dozens of investigators scoured the home beginning Friday afternoon.

The budget released this week by the White House is by far Obama’s most ambitious statement of his legislative priorities since 2009, when, as a newly elected President, he produced a plan brimming over with initiatives like Obamacare, education reform, new spending to aid the depressed economy, and a cap-and-trade régime to curb carbon pollution. Obama’s 2009 budget presaged two years in office that were so legislatively far-reaching that, in Washington policy circles, the document was sometimes called the Big Bang. This new budget approaches the ambitions of 2009—with one glaring omission.

Here is something I don’t understand: liberals are often revealed as vile, vulgar hatemongers–not all of them, of course, but far too many–yet they never seem to pay a penalty at the polls. Why is that? Margaret Thatcher’s death has been the latest occasion for the Left to show its true stripes. All across the U.K., there have been demonstrations–vulgar at best, and violent at worst. On his Friday show, syndicated talk show host Mark Levin said that a Republican congressman is attempting to persuade one of his affiliates to remove his show from the airwaves. Although Levin would not offer the congressman’s name on air, he has been a vocal critic of various members of the House Republican leadership in the past. But Levin called the situation “fascism.” “Well, it has come to my attention that there is a Republican congressman out there who doesn’t like what I’ve been saying,” Levin said. “It has come to my attention that there is a

Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

Few Americans can not answer this question: who is the worst domestic mass murderer in United States’ history? Due to the United States media, most are aware that Timothy McVeigh slaughtered 168 people with a bomb in 1995. Most Americans also know the names of our three most monstrous serial killers: “The Green River Killer” Gary Ridgeway, Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy. The U.S. media is again responsible for the general awareness of these men; these stories deserved — and received — national attention due to our common interest in personal safety, the rule of law

In Philadelphia, at a human abattoir on Lancaster Avenue, is where it ends, not where it starts. It starts with the perversion of language. It starts when the icons of a dissipated culture reduce a baby to a “fetus.” From there, Yeats’s blood-dimmed tide rolls rapidly in. Before long, a baby is not a person but a punishment, as President Barack Obama framed the matter in his familiar off-the-cuff iciness. Of course, to describe newborn children in their boundless possibilities and wonder would be to acknowledge, foremost, their humanity. That is why, instead, abortion enthusiasts must grope for words

Newtown killer Adam Lanza’s mother considered suing Sandy Hook Elementary School after teachers turned a blind eye to beatings from his classmates, a family member claims. The relative, speaking to the Daily News, claimed that mass murderer Lanza was taunted and attacked by fellow students at his childhood alma mater. “Nancy felt fiercely protective of him,” the relative said. “She was convinced the school wasn’t doing enough to protect Adam. It made her irate.” Nancy Lanza — gunned down by her 20-year-son to start his Dec. 14 rampage — even tagged along with Adam to school

The impending introduction of legislation to overhaul the country’s badly strained immigration system received an extraordinary endorsement on Sunday from Senator Marco Rubio, Republican of Florida, who, after holding back for weeks, appeared on no fewer than seven television talk shows to explain and defend a plan that he said would be “a net positive for the country, now and in the future.” It was a striking show of confidence from Mr. Rubio, one of eight members of a bipartisan Senate group that has been crafting a plan to provide a path to legal status for undocumented immigrants;

TALLAHASSEE - Picture this: You´re in the left lane of the interstate, driving a little below the speed limit, when some guy zips up behind you and swerves past you on the right. Then you notice the blue lights flashing. You´re savoring the satisfaction of seeing a trooper actually nab an aggressive driver — until you realize it´s you he´s pulling over. This could happen, if not very often, under a major transportation package expected to be taken up in the Senate Appropriations Committee next week. Introduced by Sen. President Obama and I were college classmate at Columbia University, class of ’83. I know all too well how mindlessly liberal the students and faculty of that institution can be, and Barack Obama is certainly no exception. My time at Columbia made it crystal clear: liberals always believe they are morally superior. [Snip] It is in this cesspool of intolerance that Obama and his Marxist cronies hatched a secret plan to destroy our country. There are two things you need to know about Obama at Columbia University. First, he was Pre Law and a Political Science major- just like me.
