No rush yet on inaugural
tickets and hotel rooms

McClatchy News Service, by Aimee Chen and Will Mendelson

WASHINGTON — Plans for President Barack Obama’s second inauguration in January are in full swing. A reviewing stand is under construction in front of the White House, congressional offices are taking ticket requests and planners are mapping out parade logistics and street closures. But if a crush of well-wishers is hoping to descend on the nation’s capital as it did four years ago, when 1.8 million people crowded into the city to be a part of his history-making swearing-in, their preparations are off to a much more leisurely start.

As for the coronation of Obie and his consort, meh.

Well, if any of the fawning Catholics who helped drag the president across the finish line last month are in attendance, I invite them to stay a few more days in Washington and walk with us on January 25 in the annual March for Life.
Think I´ll get any takers? (I´m Catholic by the way, I can jab my brothers and sisters in the ribs).

But not to worry. The Enemedia are expert at camera angles. They can make 300 people in a professional-sports arena look like 22,000.

Moscow - Russian stock markets Monday crashed almost 10 percent and the ruble plunged to historic lows in value against the dollar and euro, as alarm grew over the potentially disastrous economic consequences of military intervention in Ukraine. Russia´s central bank hiked its main interest rate in an emergency move to stem capital flight and the losses for the ruble, amid what risks becoming at least Russia´s worst economic crisis since 2009. Some of the biggest federal subsidies will be required in portions of Colorado, Georgia and Nevada, where premiums are highest, according to a Digital First Media analysis of premiums and tax credits across 50 states, plus the District of Columbia. Far fewer tax credits will be needed in places such as Minneapolis, Pittsburgh and Tucson where insurance premiums already were among the lowest in the nation.
