Kurtz, Panelists Worry About
Fate of CNN, ‘Last Bastion
of Television Journalism’

NewsBusters, by Randy Hall

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 12/3/2012 10:01:16 PM

Now that former NBC News president Jeff Zucker is set to take over as president of CNN, the fate of the cable news network is an open question. In a Sunday discussion about the transition, CNN media critic Howard Kurtz and his guests passed over the network´s left-of-center reporting, implying instead that CNN is somehow devoid of bias compared to its primary competitors, MSNBC and Fox News. During a segment on “Reliable Sources,” panelist David Zurawik -- media critic for the Baltimore Sun newspaper -- asserted that the news organization is “the nation´s last bastion of television journalism.”

Comments:
No wonder the media is so screwed up with twisted minds like this in "journalism." I read somewhere that Zucker was the one who hired David Gregory. That should tell you all you need to know.

CNN is a global network. They know their ratings in the U.S. stink but they do not care. Their purpose is to denigrate the U.S. from `without`. Just as the Arabs teach their children from birth to hate the Jews, CNN teaches their worldwide audience to hate the U.S.

Note to Randy Hall: There´s a big difference between "left of center reporting" and "Kool-Aide-gulping, water-carrying, in-the-tank propaganda tool." I think.

#3: maybe they don´t know what "bastion" means? "Journalism" certainly doesn´t mean a field with a lot of people to whom language matters.

I was worried about the spelling of "bastion" but guess it´s been cleared up....

Back in the 24 hour Headline News days, you could depend upon it for the news. Now it is a bunch of has-beens with dull talk shows. Go back to what made you great and you might have an audience again.

The last bastion of television journalism? Is this a joke?

Reply 10 - Posted by: Spidey, 12/4/2012 5:29:28 AM     (No. 9047282)

It really doesn´t sink in with these people why they continue to lose audience share. Rearranging the deck chairs with a different person of the liberal belief system won´t change a thing. They don´t want to copy Fox´smodel which really does try to present both sides on just about all their presentations.

One of the biggest sins of left wing journalism is omitting things that are a bad reflection on Obama. Barely any major network coverage of the Sandy aftermath. So people are left with the impression that Obama said no red tape,so that must be what´s happening. Bush did a much better job with Katrina than Obama could dream of with this storm but he´ll never get credit.

This is the main reason Fox looks biased, simply reporting things the other networks ignore.

Reply 11 - Posted by: mickturn, 12/4/2012 9:40:30 AM     (No. 9047666)

Sorry folks, CNN, PMSNBC, NBS, ABS, CBS are not about "Journalism", they are all about the Lib agenda and pushing same. Truth? We don´t need no stinkin´ truth, we have Dimocraps!

When the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) was being debated, proponents were accused of saddling Americans with inferior and expensive health care while keeping generous coverage for themselves at taxpayer expense. To rebut that allegation and build confidence in the bill, a provision was added mandating that members of Congress – and their staff members – get there coverage through the new exchange system the bill set up. Now that the time to sign up for exchange coverage is nearing, a Democratic member, Rep. John Larson (D., Conn.), is saying that

“The greatest danger zone a president can be in is when he is being attacked on the left and the right. When they are reading off the same talking points, that’s when presidencies fall apart.” -- Dan Pfeiffer, senior adviser to President Obama, in an interview with the Washington Post. In the little that President Obama has said publicly about his administration’s recently exposed domestic surveillance programs he has returned to the overall motif of his presidency: warning against excessive distrust of the federal government. While hawks wait anxiously to see if Obama can

Glenn Greenwald is the Guardian journalist who broke the story of the NSA snooping. Greenwald came to prominence during the Bush years by denouncing that administration’s anti-terrorism policies. To his credit, Greenwald is one of the few on the left who has remained consistent and now criticizes Obama policies with almost as much zeal as he criticized Bush. Not to his credit, Greenwald developed a habit of using fake commenters to defend his written positions when others criticized him, and then denied that he engaged in any sockpuppetry. Greewald blamed the sockpuppetry on his boyfriend.

The final OIG report that Congress got lacked any references to the specific cases of criminal and other misconduct apparently detailed in an October 2012 OIG memorandum, Royce noted. After the report was issued in February, Foreign Affairs Committee staff met with and asked OIG staff for specific examples of misconduct and senior-level interference. OIG staff refused to share

A July meeting of the House GOP conference on immigration reform was not scheduled in response to pressure from conservatives, several Republican leadership offices said Friday. Behind Reps. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), Steve King (R-Iowa) and Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), conservative Republicans have been circulating a petition this week calling on House GOP leaders to stage a special conference meeting on comprehensive reform, according to several news outlets. The idea is to prolong the debate in hopes of killing the bill. Republican leaders have scheduled such a meeting on July 10.

A reportedly stolen 13-inch MacBook Pro laptop? $75,537. The price listed on the Apple website is $1,199. A lost iPhone? $30,503. A lost Blackberry? $54,250.
