After I gave up Sunday crossword puzzles in 1983, I never bought another copy.

To actually expend the energy to push a couple keys down on the computer was just too much effort to read it online.

Besides you can just post AP articles and nobody would know the difference.

I suspect a good part of their remaining circulation consists of people who like the Sunday crossword.

Them and a handful of left-wing fools and red-diaper babies grown old.

Maybe the NYT can save itself by deploying the very same Democrat policies the NYT champions:

1. Increase revenue by charging people more for its newspapers and online access; and

2. Stimulate more business activity by increasing its expenses.

There is certain to be an editorial blaming the economic policies of Mitt Romney for the NYT´s problems. Will be followed by correction that it was Bush´s policies that led to this rag´s decline.

The Times hates conservatives so much that it would never have the two best writers in America, Victor Davis Hanson & Mark Steyn, on its Op Ed page. Better the mental slop of Charles Blow, Krugman, Friedman and Dowd, to name just 4 ink wasters.

Over the past several years the Times has been liquidating assets, leaving yet another alternative, not mentioned in the artilce:

I tend to reserve just one digit for the Times...

If only Bain Capital thought the paper was a worthwhile investment...but even on that level, the Times hypocritically has two classes of stock and the voting shares can´t really be bought on the open market, because when it comes to walking the walk the Times is just as authoritarian in its ownership and leadership structure as it is in its slavish worship of dictatorial regimes (as long as they are on the left or Islamist).

I would prefer that the news business was thriving so much that conservative and moderate publications were thriving and the Times was doing okay but its influence slowly waning. Barring that, I´ll celebrate this as good news.
