A firefighter has been sacked for putting toilet paper with Barack Obama´s face on it in the bathrooms of the fire station where he worked. Clint Pierce had previously been warned against posting politically inflammatory material in the workplace. And after the latest incident, he sparked a massive outcry in the town of Pompano Beach in south Florida, with some residents accusing Pierce of racism. The 50-year-old had worked for the local fire department for 19 years, during which time he had occasionally clashed with colleagues over politics. But his strong Republican views first appeared to

I´m sure the same thing would have happened if the toilet paper had Romney´s face on it. s/o

But we give a grant of 15,000 dollars so someone can take a picture of a crucifix in urine and and another artist can cover a statue of the Virgin Mary in elephant dung. And both are called art and supported by the NEA. So it would seem that anything that insults Obama is a punishable offense. Insult Christ all you want but not Barry.

Calling it "racism" is stupid and deliberately deceptive, but the fact is if I was a senior manager I´d discipline anybody who brought toilet paper with anything on it into the workplace. Firing or not would depend on circumstance. The bottom line (no pun intended) is that it´s just unprofessional.

I dpn´t know the nature of the warning. Was it an informal aside? A stern letter? It makes a difference.

One should know better to keep religion and politics out of work, and especially since The Won was elected, you must know to keep it in whispers at best. WASHINGTON — The White House says the mother of a Newtown shooting victim will deliver the weekly presidential radio and Internet address. President Barack Obama typically gives the talk, focusing on a topic that´s in the news or a policy the White House is pushing. This week, Obama has asked Francine Wheeler to deliver the address instead. Wheeler and her husband, David, lost their 6-year-old son Ben in the December schoolhouse shooting in Newtown, Conn. White House spokesman Jay Carney says Obama believes the voices of Newtown families have been critical to progress on gun control.

As examples of self-parody go, you can’t do much better than this. As the story of Philadelphia “house of horrors” abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell explodes on the internet and makes its way gradually onto the radars of the nation’s newsroom editors, questions have arisen about why this sensational story never received the wall-to-wall treatment it appears to merit. From conservatives and liberals alike, the universal horror that the Gosnell story has inspired is palpable. But some have suggested that the story is politically inconvenient for absolutist pro-choice activists. It simply does not fit the narrative,

Our national thoughts about illegal immigrants are a complex set of sentiments indeed. We value their work ethics and contributions to America within reason, but are wary of the potential cost of their health care or welfare in tax payer money. We have empathy for their situation, but prefer our visitors to speak English. And very few Americans trust the border. Only 1 percent - yes, that’s a one - think the U.S. border with Mexico is “totally secure,” this according to a new NBC News/Wall Street journal poll released Thursday. Another 17 percent

In a House budget hearing, Sebelius also said that violence in American culture has a "desensitization" effect that can push the mentally ill over the edge. "I am concerned certainly about the pervasive culture of violence both throughout media, in the entertainment industry, in movies, on TV, in video games, but also on our street corners," she told the House Ways and Means Committee. She said some children "live in extraordinary violence."

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.
