| Ana and I picked up nine year old Stefan from school one October day, a gorgeous Indian summer day before the winter chill. A musical prodigy, little Stefan is a genius with a penchant for Italian food. Half a block from the art school is a restaurant called Da Vinci’s, always bustling with patrons dining under the grape vine pergola. I was happy to see so many people out to lunch, able to afford food and particularly restaurant food, previously considered a luxury under communism that only the ruling elite could afford and felt entitled to have and enjoy.

Unless the republicans suddenky grow a pair, we are doomed to thisfste and worse. I am living proof. I made a decent 6-figure salary , having worked very hard to build my reputation within the compny i worked for. I was laid off at end of 2008´ becausethey feared Øbamacare...(their pension fund is bursting w cash andntheyve had record profits duringnthe global recession. Go figure). And I cant find a full time job anywhere. Now Ø and the Marxist ticks in the demoncrap party want my 401-k, or whats left of it given the erosion of value due to currency devaluation and anemic returns on investment. When will people wake up? Or will they ever? I am NOT optimistic.

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.
