If Colonel Allen West runs for President or Florida Govenor, I´ll campaign for him and vote for him, too! I´d like to see him escort that incompetent Obama out now and West be President now. I am exoressing my opinion as a constitutional right as an American citizen, before Obama wants to declare a part of the U.S. Costitutional Amendment illegal, he shouldn´t be able to do that, but I don´t doubt Obama would try it, and the airhead liberal journalists would support Obama doing that.

West is a terrific guy, but a one-term Rep with a history of public statements with which the media will strangle him hasn´t got a chance. And perhaps that´s the way it ought to be.

At least we would have a president who understands the military and how it´s supposed to work. He´s not PC either. Who cares if the media love him. It´s the folks who matter. I for one say, "Hooah!"

Lincoln - the only Congressman who ended up in the WH had a run for Senate in between - that was the time of the famous Lincoln-Douglas debates. He lost - back when state legislatures chose the winner. Lots of favorable publicity though.

Otherwise, Congressmen only muddy up the water during the primaries and, if 2012 is used as an example, help make the eventual winner (who is usually a Governor or less often a Senator) weakened, battered and low on cash.

Congressman are inherently weak candidates as they are most likely unable to win a more desirable Governorship or Senate slot in a state-wide race. Among Dems they are vanity candidates who represent the unelectable left (Dennis the Menace for example). Avoid.

Congressman West could generate enthusiasm for a Presidential run if he starts displaying imaginative leadership during this budget fight. I´d like to hear him saying things like Rand Paul does -- about actually making huge cuts to government spending, and how increasing taxes in any form (even with just reducing deductions) is a bad idea. West is still in office, and can do a few impressive things in his last days there, with nothing to lose.

Well #10, "the folks" just re-elected Obama.

I live JUST outside his district and I´d campaign and vote for him in a heart beat. I´ve met him several times and he struck me as a good man.

I love Allen West. He´s super smart, honest, courageous, and appreciates this country, which he has served in the military and in Congress, and he knows and appreciates the Constitution.
Interesting that 3 people mentioned so far--West, Rubio and J. Bush--are Floridians.

He is the BEST man for the job.
Romney should have had him as VP.
Obama has brought the race thing back again
so that any black should have been on the ticket. No matter what color West is the best man for the job.

#2 - Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846 and pledged to serve only one term. Not sure why. He probably would have lost re-election anyway because he opposed the Mexican-American War and he was the only Whig in Illinois´ Congressional delegation.

Gotta love Florida. So far we have Rubio and West, now all we need is a woman, and we will have all the bases covered. The presidency is a big job and we could use 3 good people to fill it instead of one man who just votes "present".

West has been the target of the current administration, of Democrats, and of Republican RINOs.

He is so very intelligent and so very articulate and always has all the facts he needs to support his positions. Like Christie, he is unafraid to respond directly to attacks. I think he´d be a competent campaigner and an excellent President.

As an old angry white male whose bigotry and racist tenancies are obvious since I didn´t vote for The Won, I´ll make an exception and support Col. West.

Seriously, the man is unique in American politics because he calls it as he sees it and is a true patriot. Therefore, as a previous poster indicated, the MSM will twist his words from his previous sound bites in the hope of destroying a black who isn´t on the liberal plantation. It´s a shame, but I would still support him with my money and time because I believe in him.

If he does, please run as a third party. The GOP leadership will never let him be the candidate.

I´m with #26. And I´d like to see him run in a third party. We will never know unless we try it, we´re losing elections anyway (usually by fraud), so what is there to lose. Maybe people are so fed up with the status quo a third party would fly. I´d vote for and support Allen West in a heartbeat.

Other than #6, etc., this thread is pretty much lemming-city. On the other hand, might as well go with Allen. It appears we will lose anyway unless a truly credible, charismatic candidate somehow appears.
