In KC, it´s no time for a game
Fox Sports, by Jason Whitlock

Original Article

Posted By:St. Pitbull, 12/2/2012 3:56:37 PM

Football is embarrassingly tone deaf. Jovan Belcher, a starting linebacker for the Chiefs, murdered the mother of his child shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday. He hopped in his car, drove to the Kansas City Chiefs practice facility, thanked Romeo Crennel and Scott Pioli — and shot himself in the head in front of his coach and general manager around 8:10 a.m.

Comments:
Unbelievably stupid column.

$$$$$. Owners do not want to miss what they would make today, nor do the players.

All about the dollar.

Agree, OP. Very stupid, and very predictable.

Pre-reading caveat: The subject matter is not what you think.

Seems to me the number of mass shootings and public suicides has skyrocketed since 01/20/2009. Guns are not the underlying problem.

Jason Whitlock uses a tragedy to spout off against the 2nd Amendment. Liberals never let a tragedy go to waste, do they?

ESPN been honoring the killer all day.

At least the moment of silence before the game was for victims of domestic violence.

That said. There should have been NO GAME at all.

I couldn´t believe it when I heard a sports reporter comment at noon today that many of the fans were hoping that KC would hold a moment of silence in "honor" of this homicidal/suicidal football play.

It is NOT about gun violence. It is about the black culture.

OK, predictably it turned into an anti-gun rant. I just want to know why people think the game should not have happened. Football is a business, like any other. If I committed murder-suicide my large company would not shutdown. Even my 13 member office would not shutdown. In point of fact, an employee of another team also committed suicide Saturday and no one has suggested that team not play.

Whitlock redefines "stupid" with every column he writes.

Reply 11 - Posted by: KimoSaavy, 12/2/2012 6:13:09 PM     (No. 9044912)

#7, this qualifies as a family anhilator and for the most part, the majority are non-black. The game should have been postponed and each team granted a bye week. Roger Goodell should have done his duty as commissioner and the team owners should have agreed. But using #7 logic, it must be a white thing.

The reality is that this is a very sad case. The guy was obvioulsy off his rocker. The NFL highlights the ills players bring into the game. Greed, stupidity, uncontrollable urge to reproduce at every turn, drug abuse, irresponsibility, marriage means nothing, concusions and subsequent health problems associated with the game, etc.

Why does this have to be a race thing? It is as stupid as blaming guns for what happened. Whenever I hear that, I tell people he would have stabbed her to death then slice his own throat.... Pesky knives.

Reply 12 - Posted by: clayusmcret, 12/2/2012 7:16:52 PM     (No. 9044962)

No it should not have been cancelled. Major league football is a business and many many small businesses support every game. If the teams had received bye´s, that would have done nothing for all of the smaller businesses who would have lost a fortune. Take the emotion out of it just like we would for any other business.

I heard on the news that they had a "moment of silence" at Arrowhead Stadium.

I was screaming at the TV that this P-O-S murdered someone, and then committed suicide, both times in front of people.

I don´t know where poster #5 gets their information, but I read this article two times, and do not see any reference to the "moment" being directed to victims of domestic violence.

JFK was assassinated on Friday, November 22, 1963. The NFL went ahead with its sunday scheduled games just two days later.
As for Jason Whitlock - Jason, would you have been happy had he killed himself and his girlfriend with a knife? A car?
and does anyone get married any more? (I understand why someone on welfare might not, since it might interfere with their benefits, but a multimillion dollar salaried NFL player, who doesn´t get married, but produces a baby? Odd.)

Do no harm: Who should bear the costs

After 24 knee operations, the National Football League’s former Man of the Year leans heavily on a crutch. When Reggie Williams pulls up his pants leg, what’s underneath looks like the trimmings from a butcher shop. His right leg is so ravaged that it’s three inches shorter than his left. Worse, it’s uninsured. Once, Williams was the NFL’s high ideal. From 1976 to 1989 he was a spring-legged linebacker for the Cincinnati Bengals who set franchise records and played in two Super Bowls. Off the field, he was a civic-minded Dartmouth graduate who won humanitarian awards and served as a city councilman while he was still playing. He was so loyal to the game that he was a pallbearer at legendary team founder Paul Brown’s funeral.

Stephen Hawking´s decision to boycott an Israeli conference in protest at the state´s 46-year occupation of Palestine was derided as hypocritical by some, who pointed out that the celebrated scientist and author uses Israeli technology in the computer equipment that allows him to function. Hawking, 71, has suffered from motor neurone disease for the past 50 years, and relies on a computer-based system to communicate. According to Shurat HaDin, an Israel law centre which represents victims of terrorism, the equipment has been provided by the hi-tech firm, Intel, since 1997.

Hundreds of U.S. Secret Service agents will be dispatched to secure facilities in Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania. A Navy aircraft carrier or amphibious ship, with a fully staffed medical trauma center, will be stationed offshore in case of an emergency. Military cargo planes will airlift in 56 support vehicles, including 14 limousines and three trucks loaded with sheets of bulletproof glass to cover the windows of the hotels

WASHINGTON — The State Department has hired an alarming number of law-enforcement agents with criminal or checkered backgrounds because of a flawed hiring process, a stunning memo obtained by The Post reveals. The background problems are severe enough that many of the roughly 2,000 agents in State’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security can play only limited roles in agency efforts to police bad conduct and prosecute wrongdoers. The problems in the bureau are the latest revelation in an exploding scandal that also involves accusations that members of former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s security detail

There is no evidence that the FBI has contacted a single tea party group in its criminal investigation of the Internal Revenue Service, according to the groups the IRS abused. “We have not been contacted by any federal investigative agency and, to date, none of our clients have been contacted or interviewed by the FBI,” Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law and Justice told The Daily Caller on Thursday. The ACLJ has filed suit against the IRS on behalf of 25 conservative groups, with additional groups being added in the next couple weeks, according to a spokesman.

At a Thursday press conference, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi condemned a bill that would prohibit abortions during the final four months of pregnancy with exceptions for when the life or physical health of the mother was at stake. Asked what the moral difference is between what Dr. Kermit Gosnell did to babies born alive and aborting those same infants moments before birth, Pelosi refused to answer. "As a practicing and respectful Catholic, this is sacred ground to me when we talk about this," Pelosi said. "This shouldn´t have anything to do with politics."

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., voted with Senate Democrats today to kill an amendment by Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, that would have required the federal government to secure the border first before granting legalization to currently illegal immigrants. All four Republican members of the bipartisan Gang of Eight immigration group voted for Majority Leader Harry Reid’s, D-Nev., motion to table the Grassley amendment. Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., who said she would vote for the underlying bill this Sunday, voted with her Republican

Washington- Syria has crossed a "red line" with its use of chemical weapons, including the nerve agent sarin gas, against rebels, a move that is prompting the United States to increase the "scale and scope" of its support for the opposition, the White House said Thursday. The acknowledgment is the first time President Barack Obama´s administration has definitively said what it has long suspected -- that President Bashar al-Assad´s forces have used chemical weapons in the ongoing civil war. The IRS hadn’t spoken four sentences about its targeting of conservative groups before it blamed “our line people in Cincinnati.” Those were the words of Lois Lerner on May 10, when she acknowledged the misconduct in an answer to a question planted at an American Bar Association conference. In a phone session with reporters later that day, she famously admitted that she is not good at math. It turns out that she is not good at geography, either. The locus of the IRS scandal, it has steadily emerged, is not in Cincinnati but in Washington, where lawyers and supervisors

Immigrants create an engine of economic prosperity.” Bush said immigrants are an advantage that the United States has over China, Europe and Japan, which don’t have the same
