Republicans Go To Obama School
Buzzfeed.com, by Zeke Miller

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Demoralized Republicans arrived in Boston Wednesday night for a rare moment in American politics: They came to learn from Democrats. Barack Obama´s campaign schooled Mitt Romney’s in November, something of which the Republicans who gathered at the quadrennial, off-the-record Harvard Institute of Politics Campaign Managers Conference were intensely aware. And while the proceedings of the event are under embargo until the institute releases audio transcripts of the proceedings, some participants shared their reactions.

WARNING: The following quotes are puke-inducing:

When it was finally over, more than one Republican walked out shaking his head. “We weren’t even running in the same race,” one downtrodden Romney aide told BuzzFeed after hearing the details of the Obama operation. “They were just amazing.”

Does this mean that our side is now going to learn how to steal elections, lie about our opponents, scare-monger and steal public taxpayer dollars to intimidate voters and buy voting-machine software that changes our votes?

This is maddening. If true, maybe we do need a new Party. Wusses...

I would expect that the Dems utilized social networking sites and countless blogs to create a data base, and then engaged in pinpoint micro-targeting of voter interests. Their standard coalition of groups was thus expanded into thousands of mini-groups from back-packers to dog-lovers. Each interest group received specially tailored messages and the opportunity to interact, leading directly to their data base for the GOTV campaign. That and the usual dirty tricks familiar to Chicago politics.

Do you really suppose the commies would reveal their methods of fraud? At best, they would present some that could be possible, but in the end, why would they tell their opposition how they did it so that the pubs could reverse engineer to counter? Unless, of course, they were already advancing to a different strategy, harder to detect and defend against...

This is only more smoke and mirrors, designed to distract.

Legislation that would repeal caps on annual cost-of-living adjustments for military retirees under age 62 will be considered next week by the Senate. Majority leader Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., has fast-tracked a bill drafted by Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark., setting a procedural vote for Monday that paves the way for a vote by mid-week. The legislation, S 1963, would repeal the portion of the Bipartisan Budget Act that will reduce annual COLA increases by 1 percentage point for “working age” retirees, starting in late 2015.

Some healthcare advocates see discrimination in the move, but Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana says it is not trying to keep people with HIV/AIDS from enrolling in one of its policies under the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. Heroin overdose deaths across the country are spiking as a deadly new variant of the drug mixed with a powerful painkiller is spreading from New Hampshire to Washington State. The lethal combination of heroin and fentanyl, an opiate used to soothe the pain of cancer patients, is blamed for about 100 deaths from coast to coast. It is variously labelled as ‘bud ice,’ ‘income tax’ and ‘theraflu,’ authorities say. The hardest hit states in the epidemic are Maryland, with more than three dozen deaths since September, and Pennsylvania, with almost two dozen this month alone, according to reports.

This is according to a joint Australian and U.S. study which has looked at why there has been a slowdown in the planet’s global average surface temperature over the past decade. Their research shows that trade winds in central and eastern parts of the Pacific have caused warm surface water to sink to the ocean´s depths, reducing the amount of heat in the atmosphere.
