Why Obama could lose this
round as fiscal crisis grows

Fox News, by Liz Peek

President Obama, fresh off his victory lap, is about to overplay his hand. The most recent proposals from the White House aimed at averting the fiscal cliff included not only the president’s cherished tax hikes, but other demands that will strike any neutral observer as absurd. Even the liberal media couldn’t swallow the fantasy launched by Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner; the New York Times described the plan as “loaded with Democratic priorities and short on detailed spending cuts.” Mr. Geithner, acting as the president’s missionary, proposed extending the payroll tax cut (something both parties earlier opposed),

It all depends on how united the Republicans stand, and with wishy washy comments by some, and even Peter King,. whom we otherwise respect, re: giving in on tax hikes "for the rich" (e.g. the people who own small business´s and invest in others) Obama is THRILLED and encouraged. Krautheimer is right.........the Devil wirth ´em. We have YET to get any shrinking down the road and both Reagan and Bush were suckered.

Obama doubles his demands insulting the GOP and expecting them to cave on everything. Other libs tell us this is "just the beginning" They are out of their mind! The house has the power of the purse and they should use it. Money is what feeds the democrat dependency creating vote buying machine. Cut it off while you can. Giving the Rats money is like pouring gasoline on a fire. Never raise the debt ceiling or taxes. The "cliff" gives the rats the clinton rates which will result in a recession and less revenue. Enough! The GOP needs new leaders who understand these things and are principled and articulate.

The geitner game is working on the 2014 election for the demorats. That´s why the demorats will never take this situation seriously....

Soooooooo --- I say --- let it fall....

The demorats wanted to be in charge -- soooooo -- let them be in charge. WE conservatives will survive. The welfare class however -- will struggle and that´s the obama class....a free phone and free welfare and free birth control.....AND no one to pay for all the "stuff"...

Since November 7th -- my funds are safe, my cupboard is full of long/term food, I´m locked and loaded. Bring it on!!

Obama is not serious about reducing the dificit. He wants more money to SPEND more money.
Geithner needs to be taken away in a straight-jacket.

Barry never seems to lose any argument and goes completely unchallenged by a singe member of the mainstream media. Government schools and a government media are tough to beat. If the truth has power, eventually we will win but it will take a clear message and a winning communication plan - both of which have been sadly lacking from our ´leadership´.

The liberal media can and ARE swallowing everything Obama is saying---pay attention. The ONLY oneswho are faltering slightly are those (like Jay Leno---where was HE these past 4 years?) who are siuddenly being hit in the pocketbook. The absolutely hypocritical head of Costco and other Obama backers are actually doing cash outs NOW before Jan. lst and the new (15% to 40% tax) rates on them. They deserve such contempt!!!!!!

I can understand why the left wing media parrot the 0bama line about a fiscal cliff. But why do the right wing media do the same? They both compare the current rates paid by low income taxpayers with the prospective rates that will be paid by high income taxpayers if no change is made.

But if we compare things within a given tax bracket, all that will happen is that everyone will experience an increase of a few per cent in their tax bill.

Considering that we have been in a Depression for four years and we have over 16% unemployment, this small increase is not the main item of business. Instead we have to focus on crippling the monster in the White House and electing a stronger Congress.

It amazes me how all of you keep thinking what Obama does is awful.... we thought that before the election and he was elected by a lot of people and that leaves us conservatives sitting here wondering what is going to happen to this country. We knew if he got reelected, it would be bad. We knew that and there is nothing we can do. We are in a snake pit and there is no way out. I don;t even think that it will end in four years. It is forever. We have lost it alllllllll.

The MSM will still find a way to protect their golden boy from Kenya, i.e. those heartless republicans caused a second and deeper recession. Even though the recession that started in 2008 never ended but was exacerbated by obama´s wild spending spree.

As far as your money goes, it isn´t safe no matter where it is unless it has been turned into real assets like weapons, defensible property, ammo and food. The dollar won´t be worth a buffalo-head nickel when the democrats get done destroying our country. Once America goes down the tubes, the rest of the world will quickly follow because we control all of their marbles. It won´t be just the inner-city hordes that will be threatening those who are prepared but ex school teachers, union workers, government drones and delusional liberals will all be out there in search of your food. Good luck and good hunting.

Numbers reported last week on the calendar year 2013 show that the tax hike on the rich would target 42 billion, while the rest of the expiring cuts would bring in 179 billion from the middle class and 84 billion from everyone else. Ending Payroll Holiday would bring in 95 billion and the remaining Stimulus, 27. He´s got the world focused on 42 billion, the other 385 billion he will let slide another year. But in return he wants new taxes. Don´t bite. Let all the extensions expire and say here´s 427 billion a year (90% from other than the rich), lets balance the budget. What are the 427 billion cuts you will make in calendar year 2013? The Sequester only cuts tens of billions in 2013.

The Obama-ites are counting on their ability to demagogue the public into believing that falling off the cliff will be the Republicans´ fault.

Dems gleefully recall how in ´94, Clinton conned Americans into believing that Gingrich, and the newly elected GOP majority in Congress, were causing a catastrophe by "shutting down the government."

Will it work this time? Dems are awfully good at demagoguing. Some few in the MSM may be catching on, and suffering a twinge of long-buried conscience ... but not enough.

Reply 27 - Posted by: Stopstoreload, 12/2/2012 10:46:54 AM     (No. 9044384)

The simple truth is that Dems want more money so that they can blow it on cute things like Solyndra, cars that catch on fie if you look at them wrong, , and aid to people like the Gaza -dwelling murderers.

The other truth is that we should not be surprised that the lower two thirds of the country (economically), most of whom pay no income taxes, want the top third to pay more taxes. That is because of the well known Stopstoreload maxim that other people´s money is too easy to spend.

Only a charlatan and an economic ignoramus would cater to the wishes of these people, mentioning no names, of course.

Republicans have protected the people who voted for bigger government for too long. All the spending has just been passed on to future generations. Let´s see what happens when their taxes go up too and they have to pay for their choices.

#35 hit the nail on the head and unfortunately it is only going to get worse, because the number of takers in the country will only accelerate into the future.

One prime generator of that is both the mass uncontrolled illegal alien situation, and the legal immigration programs, that feed about a million or so generally uneducated people mostly from socialist oriented third world countries into the USA every year with them eventually being granted US voting rights.

As time goes by more and more of those people will be given US voting rights, thus changing forever the political balance of the country.

Back in 1965, Ted Kennedy knew what he was doing when he changed the immigration laws to ensure that the preponderance of the classes of immigrants allowed into the country would be tailored using family reunification objectives which assists mostly poor and generally uneducated immigrants to come to the USA, who he knew from historical evidence would help to keep the liberal Democrats in power indefinitely.

When all that has been going on now for decades, the wimpy Republicans always frightened of being called out as racists by the liberal Democrats, have just gone along to get along. Now that aspect of American history is catching up with the Republicans, who unless they completely change and liberalize their party political and social philosophies will never again have the votes to win national elections.

Who the heck does Obama think he is, there is no way anyone in this country should allow this to happen. If it does then we just should disband Congress and shut the door because then we will have no say in anything. The only thing standing between us and a dictator is the Congress.

The cash may be worthless in a couple of years but at least the government will get less of it if I cash out now than if I wait until after Jan. 1. I have a year´s worth of food, medical supplies, etc. stockpiled and plenty of ammo. I have 10 acres to farm and my own water source. I´m eliminating all liberal acquaintances ( haven´t had liberal friends for at least a decade ) from my life and am concentrating on my family and my relationship with God.

The quasi-official ideology of the U.S. armed forces holds that generals are virtually interchangeable, that individual personalities don’t matter much, that ordinary grunts are in any case more important than their leaders, and that what really counts are larger systems that make a complex bureaucracy function. There is some truth to all of this. But for all of the bureaucratic heft of the services and the heroism of ordinary soldiers, it is hard to imagine the Civil War having been won without Grant, Sherman, and Sheridan—or World War II without Marshall, Eisenhower, Patton, Bradley, Arnold, LeMay, Nimitz, Halsey,

The Supreme Court could soon end one of the federal government´s most archaic practices. Since the 1930s, the Agriculture Department has turned California raisin growers into pawns of its Raisin Administrative Committee, which can commandeer up to half of the farmer´s crop and then pay them little or nothing for the product. His name is an iconic Democratic brand, he’s forceful on the stump and a prodigious fund-raiser. Besides, somebody has to win the nomination. Of course, there are hurdles. Saint Hillary is gearing up to run, and there will be a scrum among contenders, probably including Vice President Joe Biden, competing just to be Clinton’s top rival. Historian James Thomas Flexner referred to George Washington as "the indispensable man." Americans all know he was a general, but have you ever wondered what grade of general? How many stars did Gen. Washington have? In today´s Army, a one-star general is a brigadier; two stars is a major general; three stars is a lieutenant general; four stars is just plain general. During World War II, Congress created the five-star general, the modern rank of general of the Army. There had been an earlier grade that was called general of the Army,

On March 30, three days after North Korea severed a military hotline with the South and announced that South Korean President Park Geun-hye “will meet a miserable ruin,” the country declared a state of war. “The time has come to stage a do-or-die final battle,” an official statement said. Meanwhile, many of South Korea’s youth were worried about something else. A 25-year-old pop star named Seo In-guk had appeared on a popular reality TV show the night before and, in a misstep that quickly dominated online conversations, had washed his strawberries incorrectly. If you had an extortion investigation in your "what twists the Rutgers basketball scandal will take next" pool, well, collect your winnings. Also, buy a lottery ticket because you may be telepathic. Because the F.B.I. is investigating Eric Murdock, the whistleblowing former assistant coach, for extortion. University officials let it slip to The New York Times´ Steve Eder that Federal Bureau of Investigation officers recently visited the campus and met with athletic director Tim Pernetti sometime before Pernetti was fired on Friday. They´re trying to determine whether or not Murdock, the former director of player development,

Imagine the pitch to a History Channel executive for the smash hit The Bible. Here’s one scenario: Producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett: “Hi, we want to produce a story that appeals to all age groups. It’s has everything: love, lust, greed, war, self-sacrifice and redemption. It’s called ‘The Bible.’” Executive: “Could you repeat that? You said ‘The Bible’?” RD and MB: “Yes – we want to retell the Bible for this generation. And we think we can make money doing it. We’ve done a lot of market research —there is no competition out there.”

Since the Shermans of General Patton´s Third Army crossed the Rhine on March 22, 1945, there have been American tanks in Germany. No more, as John Vandiver of Stars and Stripes reports. The U.S. Army’s 69-year history of basing main battle tanks on German soil quietly ended last month when 22 Abrams tanks, a main feature of armored combat units throughout the Cold War, embarked for the U.S. The departure of the last M-1 Abrams tanks coincides with the inactivation of two of the Army’s Germany-based heavy brigades.

Sen. John McCain says he doesn´t understand the threats from some of his Republican colleagues to filibuster a bill on background checks to buy guns. "I don´t understand it," the Arizona Republican said on Sunday of the threat coming from Sen. Rand Paul,Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee and nine other Republicans. "The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.” "What are we afraid of? ... If this issue is as important as we all think it is, why not take ... it up and debate?"

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

Los Angeles — Some people have had it with TV. They´ve had enough of the 100-plus channel universe. They don´t like timing their lives around network show schedules. They´re tired of $100-plus monthly bills. A growing number of them have stopped paying for cable and satellite TV service, and don´t even use an antenna to get free signals over the air. (Snip) Last month, the Nielsen Co. started labeling people in this group "Zero TV" households, because they fall outside the traditional definition of a TV home. Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Susan Patton, the Princeton alumna who became famous for her letter urging Ivy League women to use their college years to find a mate, has been denounced as a traitor to feminism, to coeducation, to the university ideal. But really she’s something much more interesting: a traitor to her class. Her betrayal consists of being gauche enough to acknowledge publicly a truth that everyone who’s come up through Ivy League culture knows intuitively —
