West Point, N.Y. — Cadet Chapel, the landmark gothic church that is a center for spiritual life at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, was hosting its first same-sex wedding Saturday. Penelope Gnesin and Brenda Sue Fulton, a West Point graduate, were exchanging vows in the regal church in an afternoon ceremony attended by around 250 guests and conducted by a senior Army chaplain. The two have been together for 17 years. They had a civil commitment ceremony that didn´t carry any legal force in 1999 but had long hoped to formally tie the knot. The way was cleared
At least they didn´t force any of the local chaplains to perform the ceremony. Now that both religious teachings and procreation are out of the picture, is there a barrier to marrying two sisters or a mother and her daughter?
So thousands of straight couples get married in a military chapel...yet we need to heighten awareness to a lesbian wedding...why? What makes them so special, I just wish they stop acting like they are accomplishing earth shattering news....,it´s only news in the rainbow world...the rest of us are getting tired of all the special attention.
Sad, pathetic travesty. But let´s not forget that a holy place, a house of God sanctified by decades of worship, was desecrated by this unholy ceremony. Bowing the knee to Baal -- and worse -- got the Israelites banished, remember. We are descended from people who were burned alive and devoured by beasts instead of burning a tiny bit of incense to Caesar, who called himself a god. I would say this is worse. Much worse.
I never thought the day would ever come when same-sex "marriage" is taken seriously instead of being laughed at.
If society accepts the notion of gay "marriage," then there is no logical reason to deny other types of "marriage." Bigamy, polygamy, or group "marriage" should also be legalized. So, if three people are in a love triangle, it should be legal for them to get "married" as a threesome. And four people in a love quadrangle should also be able to get legally "married" as a foursome.
Our communist compatriots push and push at every opportunity. At least they are never at peace with themselves. So now they desecrate our chapels. Very soon the homosexuals will sue for Catholic weddings, and we will have to close our parishes. Looking around me I see a permanent Democrat majority. We will have to think about going underground.
These sexual perversions are used to corrupt Western Civilization.
#7 since there are 30 plus muslim cadets at West Point a goat wedding will probably occur there first. #13 amen to that. America will never win another war. We do not have the will and soon will not have the capability.
Richmond, Va. – There is a group of teenagers going around Richmond and knocking out people on the streets, Richmond Police Det. W. Cutshall said. The teens then steal whatever they want from the victim. “It’s two to three, sometimes four male juveniles knocking pedestrians or bicyclists to the ground,” Det. Cutshall said. “When they knock them to the ground, they begin punching them and kicking them and taking whatever they have in their possession.” (Snip) The victims’ injuries in the attacks have grown more serious recently, he added. In some instances victims have been knocked unconscious or lost teeth in the
Despite the reprieve granted by President Obama, most of the 800,000 people in New Jersey who have been told their health policies can´t be renewed next year still don´t know whether they´ll get to keep their plans when it comes time to renew them in 2014. Insurance Commissioner Kenneth Kobylowski told a state Senate Commerce Committee hearing Thursday that not a single company has committed to renewing the old plans yet. He was invited to testify by state Sen. Nia Gill, the chairwoman of the committee and an Essex Democrat, about his decision last week to let insurance companies decide
Investigators probing the racist spray painting last month of the small-town Massachusetts home of an eighth-grade football player are now focusing on the 13-year-old boy´s mother. Andrea Brazier, mother of football player Isaac Phillips, is now being investigated as the sole suspect in a crime that shocked the town and nation when she blamed her son´s teammates for spray painting racist graffiti all over the family´s home. ‘Knights don’t need n*****s´ was found spray painted on the side of their Lunenburg home. The school cancelled the remainder of the Blue Knights´ season in response.
Robert Menendez beamed as a West New York School elementary school was named after him this afternoon. "I can think of no better tribute than having an elementary school named in my honor," the U.S. senator said at a ceremony at the 55th Street school, which previously was known as School 3. "It´s where it all began for me and I know my mother, who has passed away, would have been proud." (Snip) When he asked a crowd of sixth-graders sitting in the back of the auditorium what they dreamed of becoming some day, they shouted out career aspirations:
Despite the bumper-to-bumper decorations, Lynda Farley says she can see perfectly fine out of her minivan. And she was willing to drive more than 100 hours and 5,000 miles to prove it. The 62-year-old Kentucky woman made the nearly 12-hour, 800-mile drive from Edmonton, Ky., to Warren County "four or five times" in recent months to fight the $56 obstructed-view traffic ticket. Today, a New Jersey Superior Court judge in Belvidere tossed the ticket after ruling Farley´s view through the windshield wasn´t hindered by the political signs and figurines that cover her van.
Sydney — A brazen bird snatched a video camera that was recording crocodiles in northwest Australia and captured fascinating footage of its 70-mile journey across the country’s remote landscape. Wildlife rangers in Western Australia’s Kimberly region released video on Monday that reveals the sea eagle’s caper. The bird’s flapping wings can be seen as it grabs the device and takes off, and the eagle later poses for a selfie, poking its face into the camera lens. Rangers set up the motion-sensor camera along the Margaret River in May, hoping to record images of crocodiles. The camera, which is about
As toll increases go, the one that starts today is pretty moderate, at least for most of us: an extra 75 cents on your E-ZPass bill to drive a car across the George Washington Bridge. But truckers are being asked to dig a lot deeper — deep enough, they say, to cut into or even eliminate their profits. And some say they are now at a crossroads in terms of their willingness to take runs into and through the New York Metropolitan area. It will now cost those who pay cash to cross in the biggest rigs more than $100, and
A black Mercedes slows to a halt and the driver hurries to open the door for his celebrated passenger. The tip of a walking stick appears first, then, as it finds the pavement, lean fingers decorated with jewelled rings can be seen gripping its handle. After a few moments the stick is followed by its owner – a matriarchal old lady wrapped against the winter chill in a thick blue cardigan. (Snip) But don’t be fooled by her congenial smile and, above all, don’t get too close ... she is also Bulgaria’s grande dame of pickpocketing and proud of her
Oakland, Calif. — The weekly meetings of Mouthing Off!, a group for students at Mills College in Oakland, Calif., who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender, always start the same way. Members take turns going around the room saying their names and the personal pronouns they want others to use when referring to them — she, he or something else. It’s an exercise that might seem superfluous given that Mills, a small and leafy liberal arts school historically referred to as the Vassar of the West, only admits women as undergraduates. Yet increasingly, the “shes” and “hers” that dominate the
The first big break in the case came in the form of a single keystroke. It had been more than two months since a popular University of Michigan medical student was shot to death, and police seemingly had few leads. But on Oct. 3 — 45 miles from where student Paul DeWolf was killed in his Ann Arbor fraternity — a man in Detroit attempted to log onto a computer he’d just purchased through Craigslist. The man didn’t know it, but the Mac laptop had been stolen from DeWolf’s next-door neighbor around the time he was killed. That computer had an app
A Manhattan chef who was brutally assaulted on a pre-Thanksgiving trip to Philadelphia may have been the latest victim of the “knockout game,” he told The Daily News Thursday. Diego Moya, 30, described his Tuesday night attack in online exchanges with The News as his father drove him back to New York to celebrate Thanksgiving at home. The slender, dark-haired culinary artist was unable to speak after a three-hour surgery a day earlier left his jaw wired shut. His attackers broke his nose in several places and fractured his jaw. The thugs left him — unconscious and bleeding —
Jersey City is known for its ´colorful´ political past. There´s Frank Hague, known as "the granddaddy of New Jersey Bosses," whose political machine was unrivaled in its day. There was Bernard Berry, who made his reputation banning rock and roll music from within the city limits. And there was Anthony Cucci, who threatened to foreclose on the Statue of Liberty due to an unpaid water bill. So when newly elected Mayor Steve Fulop found a pair of safes in the municipal building that had not been opened in a generation or more, he was understandably intrigued. The safes are in
When I was a kid, I knew two different Santa Clauses. The first had a fat belly, rosy cheeks, a long white beard, and skin as pink as bubble gum. He was omnipresent, visiting my pre-school and the local mall, visible in all of my favorite Christmas specials. Then there was the Santa in my family’s household, in the form of ornaments, cards, and holiday figurines. A near-carbon copy of the first one—big belly, rosy cheeks, long white beard: check, check, check. But his skin was as dark as mine. Seeing two different Santas was bewildering. Eventually I asked my father what
US President Barack Obama may have moved the masses attending Nelson Mandela’s memorial service with his stirring eulogy, but it was his grinning "selfie" with the Danish and British premiers that set social networks abuzz. In a candid moment captured by a photographer, Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt can be seen holding up her smartphone, with Obama lending a helping hand, as they pose for a picture with David Cameron, all three of them smiling broadly in their seats at Soweto’s World Cup stadium.(Snip)Mashable, the news and technology website, ran the photograph under the headline: ‘‘Dear Obama: Funerals are no place
Johannesburg - A man who provided sign language interpretation on stage for Nelson Mandela´s memorial service, attended by scores of heads of state, was a "fake," the national director of the Deaf Federation of South Africa said on Tuesday. Asked about the claim by The Associated Press, South Africa´s government said it was preparing a statement. Three sign language experts said the man was not signing in South African or American sign languages. South African sign language covers all of the country´s 11 official languages, according to the federation. It wasn´t immediately clear if the unidentified man was using a
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) snapped at conservative groups that have come out in opposition to the budget deal reached Wednesday between Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.). "They´re using the American people for their own purposes. This is ridiculous," Boehner said at a press conference with other members of House Republican leadership on Wednesday. Over the past few days, a number of conservative groups have blasted the deal because it sets discretionary spending levels in the budget higher than previous levels under sequestration. In the past three days, the influential Heritage Action, Club for Growth, Americans
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
President Obama’s job approval among American voters has dropped to negative territory with just 38 percent voicing their approval versus the 58 who says they disapprove, according to a national poll released Tuesday by the independent Quinnipiac University. That is one percent less than the 39% who said they approved of him in last month’s poll. The majority of the 2,692 registered voters the University in early December said that the president is not honest and trustworthy. When asked, “Do you approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is handling his job as President?,” respondents gave Obama lackluster ratings
Looks like this president can’t get away with flirting in front of his wife… It appears that first lady Michelle Obama was none too pleased with the way that President Barack Obama was acting toward Denmark Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt during a ceremony honoring Nelson Mandela, and before too long, they switched seats. This lmao! Michelle Obama vs Prime Minister of Denmark at Mandela´s ceremony. pic.twitter.com/Rq4uF9fTaZ — Stun (@TheBlogPirate) December 10, 2013
The sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandela´s memorial yesterday "made up his own signs," according to South Africa´s deaf federation. "He´s a complete fraud," Cara Loening, director of Sign Language Education and Development in Cape Town, said according to ITV News. "He wasn´t even doing anything, There was not one sign there. Nothing. He was literally flapping his arms around." Delphin Hlungwane, an official South African sign language interpreter at DeafSA, told Reuters:
Say goodbye to the 60-watt incandescent bulb. This year manufacturers started phasing out 100w and 75w bulbs. On January 1 it will become illegal to import or manufacture traditional 60w and 40w bulbs too. Time to stock up? Not so fast. First, check out Cree’s energy-sipping new 75-watt replacement bulb. I used to be outraged over the federal government’s draconian moves to outlaw traditional lightbulbs. For 100 years we’ve lived and thrived under the warm glow of incandescent lightbulbs. Aside from the fact that 90% of the electricity used by the bulbs is radiated in the form of heat rather than
