Pressure mounting on
Obama over pipeline decision

Associated Press, by Josh Lederman

Original Article

Posted By:NorthernDog, 12/1/2012 9:49:39 AM

WASHINGTON — Embarking on a second term, President Barack Obama faces mounting pressure on a decision he had put off during his re-election campaign: whether to approve the $7 billion proposed Keystone XL oil pipeline between the U.S. and Canada. On its surface, it´s a choice between the promise of jobs and economic growth and environmental concerns. But it´s also become a proxy for a much broader fight over American energy consumption and climate change, amplified by Superstorm Sandy and the conclusion of an election that was all about the economy.

Comments:
What pressure? He simply voted ´present´.

Agree with OP. What way is there to pressure Obama now that he will never face another election?

Obama coddled his green base by vetoing the Keystone XL pipeline, at the risk of giving the GOP a potent campaign issue. Having paid no political price for that risk taking, he is now under no pressure to reverse himself, either on the pipeline, or on his vetoes of exploration permits. The “more flexible” President now has no need to be flexible on his energy policies.

AP´s Lederman shows his radical agenda - if it wasn´t for SUVs and central heating, we would not have had the October storm. Better to let the elderly, sick and infants die from the cold & heat - Gaia first!

Overcoming the left´s perverse anti-science, anti-progress and anti-mankind agenda will be America´s greatest challenge. Not sure if we will succeed.

Susan Rice has investments in the pipeline. You can count on it being approved, sooner rather than later.

A consolation prize for being the appointed scapegoat.

Pressure? On Øbama? Hahhahhaha--- you have to give a hoot in order to experience pressure- Nonsense! Øbama loves things to go crazy on America. It´s his dream to destroy this nation and energy is the best way to do it- destroy the energy pipeline, you further crush America´s power. That´s why the guy is on a 24/7 vacation and rules by decree-- we have lost the Republic and are now in "Empire" status. Freedom of the individual American is an illusion and existing on very borrowed time.

From January 20th, 2009 until this very hour, Obama´s only purpose has been to destroy America, and the results of the election, Americans are fine with that. Or, more accurately, the democrats counted the votes with no objection from the republicans. "It does not matter who votes. It matters who counts the votes."--Joseph Stalin

SIMFEROPOL, Ukraine — Crimea’s new Prime Minister says he is taking control of all military forces and government departments in the territory, declaring an official break with Kiev. In a press conference Tuesday Sergey Aksenov, who was named Prime Minister last week, said the new government in Kiev was illegal and “mad”. “We don’t trust the Kiev government and we asked help from the Russian federation to help us with the situation in Crimea,” he said. “We control everything, every activity.” He asked all Ukrainian military forces in Crimea to lay down their arms and leave their bases. The majority of uninsured Americans are still largely unaware of Obamacare and the crucial March 31 deadline to sign up for coverage through the new exchanges. Those without health insurance April 1 and beyond will be subjected to a tax penalty imposed under the new healthcare law. The latest survey from Kaiser Family Foundation found some 76 percent of Americans without coverage are unaware of the deadline. Moreover, just 12 percent of uninsured respondents said they knew “a lot” about Obamacare, while 24 percent knew “some” information about the law, 36 percent knew “a little” and 26 percent knew “nothing

The crisis in Ukraine has brought out a fresh round of critics of President Obama´s foreign policy who see a pattern emerging: the president tries to assert his authority and direct events on the world stage with empty threats, which inevitably have no follow through. With each instance, U.S. power grows weaker as foreign powers view Mr. Obama as the president who cried wolf. The latest case: Mr. Obama´s public warning to Russia to stay out of Ukraine was followed by an invasion just days later. It´s just the latest failure, say critics who point to Syria as an example.

FOR FIVE YEARS, President Obama has led a foreign policy based more on how he thinks the world should operate than on reality. It was a world in which “the tide of war is receding” and the United States could, without much risk, radically reduce the size of its armed forces. Other leaders, in this vision, would behave rationally and in the interest of their people and the world. Invasions, brute force, great-power games and shifting alliances — these were things of the past. Secretary of State John F. Kerry displayed this mindset on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday when he

WASHINGTON—Police arrested hundreds of people who strapped themselves to the White House fence on Sunday to protest the proposed Keystone XL oil pipeline. The protesters were mostly college students who participated in a peaceful march that began at Georgetown University and ended outside the White House. They chanted "climate justice now" and carried signs with slogans such as "don´t tarnish the earth" in an effort to persuade President Barack Obama to reject the pipeline. They say it will worsen global warming. Protesters were passionate but quite orderly. Police were waiting for them with buses and vans to speed the process.
