The Repug establishment candidate (Romney)outspent everyone 10 to 1 in the primary and trashed his primary opponents worse than he did 0bama, and they wonder why the turnout never happened?

Romney is part of the political class in Washington. His daddy was govenor and ran against Nixon in 1972. He is no different than the Bushes.

This party has run out of ideas, and has no moral foundation (resisting marginal tax increases on the rich while allowing the debt to get to $16 trillion is not a moral foundation).

Eric, you were smug and condescending while you put your foot in your (and the candidate´s) mouth. Again and again you showed disdain for the Republican base. Most of us voted for Romney in spite of you.

One of the reasons the Republicans lose is because their strategists are too busy being cute for the Liberal Media instead of feeling for the pulse of the American People. They are so busy cozying up to Chris Matthews and the like, their employers constituents quickly suspect they are being betrayed.

I personally believe we haven´t had two Political Parties since the early 1900´s. They are one party - the ´Turn them into Slaves´ Party, divided up for our entertainment and confusion into the public ´Democrats´ and ´Republicans´. Because resisting entry of people from outside the Elites would give the game away, we occasionally have exceptions, like Ronald Reagan, who shocked the Elites by winning, when he should have lost and reminding people what America is supposed to be.

Bushies 1 and 2 were inside Elitists. ´W´ simply had a wake-up call on 9/11 and betrayed his principles, which is why the Elites hated him so fervently. Most Republican candidates like Romney are either in bed with Elites or Elites themselves.

I think we need MAJOR housecleaning before we can hope to go on. The Elites and their allies and lackeys are too entrenched, now. We would have to resort to their own tactics (ballot stuffing, rigging votes, electronic shuffleboard with the voting machines and voter intimidation) to overcome their advantage.

The establishment´s hired guns can´t substitute for principles and conviction. The GOP is finished at the national level. Big money can get what it wants without playing politics; the only reason they even bother embarrassing themselves is to keep us thinking we have an alternative.

#9 Has it exactly right. They spent the entire primaries trashing the Republican field. Well those guys/gal were also supported by voters of various means and ideals. What did they expect?? Sudden undying devotion? Yet they refused to slime the one who deserved it the most? That´s a srategy?

It´s branding. The Republican Party has two wings. One is the Rockefeller wing. It is elite, east coast, monied, and not much caring for the vast middle of Fly over country. The other wing is the Goldwater wing. It is western, populous, working and middle class, and prefers a return to our Constitutional roots. The Rockefeller Republicans are all the Bushes, Dole, Romney, the so called "conservative" communitariat, Rove, Sununu, and McCain, even though he is a Westerner. The Goldwater wing is Reagan, Palin, the Tea Party, Ted Cruz, Kelley Ayott, Allen West, Breitbart, Bill Whittle, and a host of lesser known, younger politicians, pundits, and intellectuals. In this last election Romney froze out the Goldwater Republicans, because he is an elitist, non conservative, country club Republican. He froze out Sarah Palin and the Tea Party, and lost the working class, giving the class warfare debating points into the hands of the Democrats. He lost. He deserved to lose. It´s time to kick the Rockefeller Republicans to the curb, and take the fight to the Democrats.

Agreed! Time to kick the Rockefeller Republicans to the curb. Romney, along with anyone who advised him on that campaign. Stiff-arming the Tea Party and the Ron Paul libertarians was a huge mistake.

Once Romney got the nomination, he treated conservatives like Dracula treats holy water (except when he needed money).

Well, said #´s 13 and 14! Even though he denigrated many of us in the primaries(usually through surrogates, some of them right here), we still voted for Mitt. But like many others, I will never vote for another country-club candidiate again.
