HATFIELD, Penn. - President Barack Obama turned up the pressure in "fiscal cliff" talks on Friday, hitting the road to drum up support for his drive to raise taxes on the wealthy and warning Americans that Republicans were offering them "a lump of coal" for Christmas. In a visit to a Pennsylvania toy factory, Obama portrayed congressional Republicans as Scrooges who risked sending the country over the fiscal cliff rather than strike a deal to avert the tax increases and spending cuts that begin in January unless Congress intervenes.
If voters insist on having very expensive entitlement programs, then they should be willing to pay for them through much higher taxes. Borrowing trillions from the Chinese is no longer an option, as they are unwilling to fund our social welfare programs.
Face it. Obama and his minions out messaged us during the election and continue to do so. If we don´t correct this and find a way to explain our position to the American public, we are doomed to be painted as the party of the rich. Good grief, this country is going down the tubes and it would be better for the RNC to spend money on ads on social media and TV spots explaining our situation. Guys, at least go down fighting. Show some innovation. It is a new world and standing behind a podium saying a few words, just does not cut it. This is all about messaging and the progs are experts at it. We need to get in this game or we will let the them continue to define us.
The man in the White House is a Marxist. Marxism is evil. It has killed millions of people. Nothing he wants is good for the United States. That is a message that the pusillanimous Republicans should be shouting to the rooftops. Of course, half of our poorly educated population would shrug and say "Who´s Marx?".
Agree wholeheartedly with #3. Walk away from this. It is not a serious proposal and Obama can´t even get enough Democrat votes to make it happen. Make him admit it. This is the hand we have been dealt and the Republicans need to learn how to play it.
On one hand, I say - let it go over the fiscal cliff as I think this is what Obama wants. He wants everyone to be miserable so they will continue to back his programs "in hope" that he will be the Messia and will give them their goodies. Obama wants that. On the other hand, I think, why wish that on the citizens of this country, even though the ones (one half of this country) are stupid as dirt. They are so dumb they don´t know what else to do. I still hate to see anyone suffer because of their stupidity.
The entire fed system is driving towards some kind of cliff. Certainly addding even more taxes on anybody will not slow down the waste, the greed, the looting. Stealing more money from any taxpayers is not going to even slow down the free fall over the cliff of financial sanity. Most of the federal departments must be shut down, all the useless offices slammed shut. All the stupid duplication of laundry services, food supply services, ridiculous government printing, douboe, triple quadruple dippers need to be exposed, you name it, all filth shut down, leaving a few left over for contracting. All they talk about is more tax theft, when ALL they should be talking about is "cutting THIS out, cutting THAT out" It´s all self perpetuating fraud, and Boehner is one of many of our RINO FRAUD LEADERSHIP......Lindsay, Mc Cain all those elderly, limp, treasonous old thieves. Helping all this along is our own wonderful traitorous Fox News TV that only allow the RINO elders on the air, DO NOT SUPPORT THE FEW REAL ANTI TAX FIGHTERS that must be hidden in there somewhere. Greta and Bill the so-called "Team", are failing us miserably on a NIGHTLY basis.
Above all Boehner must realize that Obama is not dealing in good faith, and laughing off and walking away from Obama´s insult of a ´´proposal´´ is the right move. Arrogant Obama obviously thinks he can roll the Republicans.
You have to step back and see who´s pushing what buzz words and talking points. If Obama is cranking up the ´´fiscal cliff´´ buzz word then maybe that cliff isn´t such a cliff at all, or at least doesn´t have to be.
Newt on Hannity last night spoke of rejecting the ´cliff´ notion and instead advising the Republicans to come up with an affirmative plan of several ´´foothills´´ that could be individually passed in the House and sent on to the Senate and Obama, i.e. put the ball in their court.
Heard Newt on Hannity last night, and Greta the night before.
He gets it.
Article 1 §2 of the Constitution states: "The House of Representatives shall chuse their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment." There is no requirement that the Speaker be an elected member.
Republicans in the house should pass a fiscal bill along with any other bills they want and send them to the senate and then leave town. No negotiations with this administration. The white house can submit their own bills. That is how it is supposed to work. If the senate takes up any of the house passed bills then a combined committee works out a compromise.

If taxes go back to the pre-Bush tax cuts due to not reaching an agreement, then we should go back to the spending levels that existed just before Bush cut taxes. The Republican congress of the 90´s balanced the budget. Say it loudly, over and over again. If the Democrats argue it was Clinton who balanced the budget, then fine, we´ve got them agreeing that that is where we need to get back to.
Then start cutting taxes again, and cutting spending from there, working on entitlements.
We have been disappointed by republican inaction and compromise with the devil since 2008. I have no reason to believe that we will stop the tax increase or decrease wasteful spending.
It´s easy to forget that Obama is not doing any of this backroom planning. He is the leader in name only. He is going to Hawaii while the old guard democrats continue to connive for dreams they have had since the days of Lyndon Johnson. I say let it all fall apart and let the strong survive. That will clear the inner-city weeds from this country.
Conservatives are at a disadvantage, with a president that cares more about himself and his ideology than the health of the nation.
He has the media backing him, he has free access to a microphone and a public dumbed down by a corrupt media, so stupid they can only comprehend very simple sentences, nothing more.
The GOP MUST SPEND MONEY TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC, quit being defensive and explain Conservatism and how it applies to each and every individual. There is a disconnect between taxes paid and entitlements received (at the federal level) and the GOP needs to reconnect those two so people understand there is no such thing as getting something for nothing. And blow the whistle on how this administration is using propaganda to change minds, values and opinions and it´s THEIR minds that are being changed.
AND, the GOP needs to reconnect with Blacks. Black history has been ignored by the Right as if it will go away in its own; while Democrats have at least recognized there is a wound and have made monetary offerings in the form of entitlements to get their vote; but that don´t heal the problem it only covers the wound. The GOP has a golden opportunity to help heal this nation by recognizing the grave injustices done but has chosen to ignore it and it has cost them.
Most people are fair, are not bigots or racist, but ignoring history and hope Blacks will forget is just one step above being those things.
#15 There might be some hope for this country if Newt could become Speaker of the House again. He has solutions. Too bad all of the current RINO leaders ignore him. Obama is like the kid who stole the whole bag of candy and got away with it. So juvenile! The democrats are holding the entire country hostage. For What? Highway Robbery?
This has become such a common scenario that we scarcely notice it anymore: Dems bungle their way through gov´t, blaming the GOP for their mistakes, and the media is more than happy to comply. I say the GOP should walk away from the insanity. Boehner should send their tax hike proposals to the Senate and walk away. It would be like walking away from an abusive marriage. Mankind is "able to stand yet free to fall"--John Milton. Let´s walk away. Obama and his evil minions would fall flat on their faces. Obama says he wants to save the middle class tax cut. Isn´t it interesting that he never calls those cuts what they really are--the Bush tax cuts helped the middle class?
#16, the House has already offered their budget, and passed it.
Since the WH budget didn´t even garner 1 single vote, and his latest is laughable.
Now, the Senate Democrats need to propose a budget now. (they´ll be forced to as long as the Republicans don´t raise the debt ceiling which is how the Dems in Senate have been able to keep from making hard choices)
Bohner is an idiot. Call Bo bluff.all his people will have to pay taxes along with the obamacare penalties if they don´t have health insurance. That will include half of the getto that is not on Medicaid. The finances of the breeding females. You will see the marches again but this time against him. I will gladly pay more taxes to see this.
This is a classic display of difference between "polite" Republicans and "eff you" Democrats. Boehner needs to use the same type of language. No budget for years, no plan, no willingness to find a solution (NOT a compromise, John). Stop sounding like Beaver´s dad, Mr. Speaker. Wally and the Beav are driving the American Choom-mobile with our credit card.
#15, you have a great idea. We should appoint someone to that job who isn´t facing an election or worried about their job, someone who will look out for the best interest of the American people not themselves.
I like low taxes as much as the next guy, but given the size of the debt and deficit, spending must be cut and taxes must go up. There is no other way that that the debt and deficit can be reduced - let´s face facts. I´d be thrilled if it were possible for only spending reductions to be enacted - but that is not going to happen. Everyone must share the pain - so bring on the cliff!
History shows that negotiating with Marxists/communists is virtually impossible. The only thing that Marxists/communists understand is force. Make Obama a reasonable, detailed final offer and go over the cliff if he refuses to accept it.
It annoys me that we continue to adopt the language "Bush´s (temporary) Tax Cuts", as if they were some sort of deviation from a longtime norm. A a matter of stone cold fact, the current tax rates, which originated under Bush, have been in effect longer than the rate schedule that preceded the current one. There is a coming tax INCREASE, and the sooner we start talking about it that way, the sooner we stop using the Democrats´ language and the sooner we can seize the initiative.
Republicans have got to get a better PR machine and find a way around the national media as # 2 suggested . Every headline reads " Republicans reject Obama´s offer .." which makes them the bad guys. The talk of deficits and debt is meaningless . Talking about burdening kids and grandkids is meaningless. Remember this scary thought-today´s 14, 15 , 16 and 17 year olds will be voting in 2016. The concept of debt and especially grandkids is meaningless to these potential voters and millions of others. Most Americans have debt and they view the government as an entity that does not affect them. Republicans should make it a simple and tangible concept. If we don´t fix this fiscal mess , everyone´s car and credit card payment or rent will go up x amount . Bread and Red Bull will cost 6 dollars each. Netflix will cost 100 / month. Tell those who truly deserve welfare and food stamps that they will suffer because of the sheer volume of lazy and entitled takers. Of course the Democrat media will scream, but , it´s time the Republicans brought the flame thrower to the knife fight. The Republicans should spend some money for some very , very , very simple and targeted ads now , otherwise they better get used to wearing the perpetual Kick Me signs.
The ´fiscal cliff´ is basically the deal Obama wanted all along. He has no intention on changing. If the Republicans did not like the deal, why did they go along with it last summer?
Here is a hint: Alot of Washington Republicans are fine with raising taxes and the debt ceiling.
Want to know why Romney lost the election? Much of the moderate Republican ´leadership´ were more comfortable with a big government tax and spend liberal Democrat rather than a small government fiscally conservative Republican. The Washington gravy train would take a major hit, and nobody in Washington or connected with Washington wants that.
The ´fiscal cliff´ talks are nothing more than theatre.
Winston Churchill observed that negotiating with a Communist was both confusing and dangerous. It was like dealing with a crocodile: when it smiled you didn´t know if it was going to eat you or agree with you. All that could be done was to lay out the facts of the matter and hope for a sensible reaction. Mr Boehner should again lay out the incontrovertible facts of rapacious government spending and its consequences, and the peril of raising taxes on anyone, so that the public is abundantly aware of them. A national campaign will be necessary. Then walk away.
The tax cheat Geithner water boy for Obama with a plan to save us from the cliff edge. The plan presented by Obama and obviously approved by the Deocrats is insane nonsense. Similar to the plan Obama tried to use in his first term. Unlimited access to the taxpayers moner as stimulli. He has not learned from his first 4 years that Stimulus is the brain child of a left wing economic Cambridge University Professor John Maynard Keynes. You would have thought Obama´s financial think tank and others such as the ´Fed´ Chairman Bernenke would have told him pouring other peoples money againgst a wall to see whether it sticks DOES NOT WORK. It was tried after WW1 . WW2 and in each case did not bring a country out of a deep depression by EXCESSIVE SPENDING. Know it all Obama tried it in his first term and it went down the toilet.Obama has no idea of economic discipline ,fiscal responsibilty he is clueless.Speaker Boehner should walk away from this ridiculus plan. Mr Speaker stand up straight, forget about sitting down with this idiot and make it clear you hold the purse strings. Don´t ever let Obama receive any tax payers money.Obamas Plan is ludicrous and laughable. Time out !
#s 20,26,27: Not my idea. Rep. Louis Gohmert (R-TX) actually nominated him at a GOP closed-door meeting on Wednesday. He talked about it on Greta. There´s nothing in the Constitution precluding the House from electing whomever they "chuse"[sic] to be Speaker.
The demoncrats and Obama are like dealing with kids with the mindset of kindergarteners...I agree their plan was at best entertainment, we need to walk away, they own it, let them handle it. They will try to throw the Repubs under the bus with their Third Reich styled propaganda machine, but in reality it is what it is! And don´t hold your breath on the Sheeple waking up before it is too late...it is already later than it seems!
I´m about convinced that this will all boil down to a big bomb blast from some unknown terrorist who thinks he knows all the answers. After about three or four thousand years, those few heirs of the survivors will sort through the mess and start over. God help them. If no one gives a damn, why bother getting worked up over it? Barack thinks he so cool because he stole this election and got away with it. What did he get? To my way of thinking, Obama just won the exclusive deck chair franchise of the Titanic. He knows the history, he knows what´s happening and he doesn´t care!! I´ll be really glad when the restrictions are lifted and I can curse him like he really should be. (I know. They aren´t ever lifted.) sigh
I´d call his ploy blackmail: give me $1.6 trillion dollars and unlimited credit or else I´ll let your taxes go up and ruin your Christmas (sort of like they tried to ruin Christmas 2010 with "Obama[dont]care").
Call Barry´s bluff. He´s the big bad wolf who has been huffing and puffing for the last two years--let the cards fall where they may. And besides he and the First Consumer will be in Hawaii for the foreseeable future, until 1/15´ when they appear in DC to do the in inaugural party circuit.
I want to see the Soetero´s do what most people do in similar circumstances, have a lawn sale
Following yesterday’s allegation that the NSA had been spying on German Chancellor Angela Merkel, State Department Deputy Press Secretary Marie Harf was asked if the NSA had tapped President Obama’s phone. Harf seemed to find the question rather amusing, but was unable to give the reporter a definitive yes or no answer on the matter.Below is a transcript of the exchange: Q: And just one or two more. Does this development threaten the U.S.-German relationships? MS. HARF: No, not at all. I think that we value Germany as a close ally and partner on a number of issues. When there are issues, where
Washington - The White House hosted a meeting of aides to Senate committee leaders on Thursday seeking to persuade lawmakers to hold off on a package of tough new sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program, a senior Senate aide said. The White House will press for another delay on a sanctions bill that had been expected to come to a vote in the Senate Banking Committee last month but was held back after appeals from President Barack Obama´s administration to let negotiations on Iran´s nuclear program get under way.The aide said Republicans would resist further delay, but that the decision
That was America standing behind President Obama in the Rose Garden this week as he stammered, and droned on and on, trying to explain away the epic disaster that Obamacare has become even before it has begun “About three weeks ago, as the federal government shut down,” he began.Expectant and hopeful, America stood tall on the steps behind him for as long as she could. She was proud and gazed at the nation’s new top health care provider proudly. But as the excuses and mistruths mounted and the barrage of words rolled on and on and on, she could not
The “best and the brightest” also appear to be the cloaked and elusive.President Barack Obama insists he’s culled the country’s tech elite to help repair the mangled Healthcare.gov website. But the administration hasn’t made its smart new crew public, and any of the tech companies or federal contractors involved remain tight-lipped.The silence may stem from a tangle of obstructions and fears — from the complex legal requirements for federal procurement contracts to the increasingly volatile politics associated with Obamacare.“Experts from some of America’s best private sector tech companies” have volunteered to help, Obama said from the Rose Garden on Monday.
The history of information technology acquisitions by the government is a bit like the history of helicopters. You spend a lot of money on something and most of the time, it lifts off the ground. But more frequently than you’d like, it crashes, and when it does, it leaves a big fiery mess.HealthCare.gov is but one of those fiery crashes. Whether it was USAJobs.gov, or New York’s CityTime project, governments have a history of expensive crashes. In the case of HealthCare.gov, the root cause isn’t the bugs we see in the software’s code. Instead, it’s the way that government procures
Philosophers, war heroes, a movie star: A wide variety of men with an even wider variety of cultural tastes have inhabited the White House over the centuries. And evolving standards and technologies have combined with evolving political realities to create a culture the White House’s original inhabitants would not likely recognize.George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson were classically educated and the owners of large libraries. And while Washington dedicated much of his reading to farming, he was equally devoted to the ideals of America’s founding, notes Tevi Troy. During his term in office, the first president would host dinners,
About a half million people have taken the first step toward enrolling in Obamacare health coverage, creating applications on the exchanges, administration officials said late Saturday. The “almost half million” figure the officials reported is the most complete national picture of President Barack Obama’s signature domestic legislation yet — but it still leaves a lot unknown or unsaid. The figure is a snapshot of applications — the first step toward getting coverage. The administration isn’t planning to release until next month the number of people who have actually completed the process of choosing and enrolling in a health plan.Extensive “glitches,” as
As the White House was gearing up to sell ObamaCare to the American people last summer, Valerie Jarrett, the president’s pointwoman on a host of issues, phoned Oprah Winfrey. She invited the Queen of All Media to join celebrities, including Amy Poehler, Jennifer Hudson and Alicia Keys, to meet with President Obama and discuss how they could generate publicity for his health-care law.Oprah refused. “All of Oprah’s top people thought she would go, because when the president invites you to the White House, most people automatically say yes,” said one of Oprah’s closest advisers. “But Oprah said she didn’t have the
SAN FRANCISCO -- Mark Zuckerberg´s immigration advocacy group Fwd.us is planning to hold a hackathon next month for young undocumented immigrants as it tries to refocus attention on immigration reform. Famous coders including the Facebook chief executive and Dropbox´s Drew Houston will team with those who came to the U.S. as children, often referred to as "Dreamers," to build tools that address "the problems within our immigration system," according to Fwd.us President Joe Green. Fwd.us will then work with the teams to get the projects up and running. The event is designed to swivel the spotlight to Zuckerberg´s call for a
Sure there’s a lot of things to choose from. But I think we have a winner. The ObamaCare website, which estimates have placed at anywhere from under 100 million to 400 million to just under 300 million to 634 million dollars, not only tops even Solyndra, but couldn’t have been designed any worse if Joe Biden had tried making it in his spare time. It’s all the worse for Obama Inc. which boasted of being web savvy only to unveil this... The federal health care exchange was built using 10-year-old technology that may require constant fixes and updates for the next
The British multinational in charge of processing Obamacare paper applications received a hefty contract boost just days before Healthcare.gov’s disastrous roll-out, a sign that the Obama administration may have expected serious problems with the website. The Business of Federal Technology (FCW) reports that on Sept. 26, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) increased their planned payout to Serco’s U.S. subsidiary by 75 percent, adding an extra $87 million to the $114 million promised for processing initial Obamacare enrollment applications. The contract documents do not explain the last-minute infusion of federal dollars, and neither Serco nor CMS would disclose why the
Amid all the tussling over the government shutdown and the debt ceiling, a couple of bombshells went off that may prove of more enduring importance. They suggest that there is a nontrivial possibility that ObamaCare may implode. The first bombshell went off on Tuesday, from Ezra Klein of the Washington Post’s Wonkblog.Klein was one of the writers who formed JournoList a few years ago so that like-minded Obama fans could coordinate their lines of argument. It was like one of those college sophomore clubs, not really necessary in an age of ready contact through e-mail, but it shows him as
On Sunday night, I wrote a short post soliciting stories from my readers about how Obamacare has already immediately impacted their lives. I asked that all of these emails be directed to ObamacareMakesMeSick@Yahoo.com. I expected a response; I didn’t expect it to be quite so overwhelming. Over the last 24 hours, my inbox has been flooded with hundreds of emails. What you’ll read in this post represents a portion of them. I’m only one guy (with a fulltime job and twins) — I wasn’t able to go through every single message just yet. Some, I left out because the information
Does President Obama belong on the same list as John Kennedy and Bill Clinton when it comes to presidents who are sex symbols? That’s what Entertainment Tonight reporter Rocsi Diaz thinks. First Lady Michelle Obama chuckled and smiled as Diaz asked her what it’s like to be married to someone who’s seen by many women as a “sex symbol,” in an interview that aired Tuesday evening. “He’s got a little swag, you know, that’s okay,” the first lady said. “I’m proud of him. He’s a stylish man who is healthy and he’s smart and he’s passionate and he’s inspiring. And
Healthcare insurance executives were received at the White House today — but not to confront President Obama about the flub-ridden exchange launched on Oct. 1. Instead, the CEOs of Aetna, Humana, CareFirst, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, Health Net, Inc., Health Care Services Corporation, Independence Blue Cross, America’s Health Insurance Plans, Molina Healthcare, Centene Corp., Tufts Health Plan, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Wellpoint and Kaiser Permanente got to meet with Obama’s senior adviser Valerie Jarrett. Meanwhile, on the Hill, Pelosi brushed off the tech implosion as something they just have to be able to fix because she doesn’t want to
Senate majority leader Harry Reid says that "Everybody" is "willing to pay more" taxes. He said so in an interview with a Nevada Public Radio host. “The only people who feel there shouldn’t be more coming in to the federal government from the rich people are the Republicans in the Congress,” Reid told the radio host, according to Roll Call. “Everybody else, including the rich people, are willing to pay more. They want to pay more.” Reid rebuked the Nevada Public Radio host when he was asked what Republicans would have to concede to get Medicare and Social Security cuts
It took a tea-party insurrection that disabled the federal government and wrecked the Republican brand, but after months of handwringing, establishment Republicans are preparing to attack ultraconservative ideologues across red America. (Snip) "Hopefully we´ll go into eight to 10 races and beat the snot out of them," said former Rep. Steve LaTourette of Ohio, whose new political group, Defending Main Street, aims to raise $8 million to fend off tea-party challenges against more mainstream Republican incumbents. "We´re going to be very aggressive and we´re going to get in their faces." The caterwauling over the GOP brand ramped up after President Obama´s
After a shutdown fight that had Republicans in Congress taking sides against one another, the Senate minority whip put out a plea for unity today in the form of a Fox News op-ed. “In recent weeks, the national media have been obsessed with highlighting divisions and disagreements among Republicans on Capitol Hill. It’s time for GOP lawmakers to remind the American people of what unites us,” Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) wrote. “Republicans are united in our desire to dismantle President Obama’s health care law and replace it with patient-centered alternatives that reduce costs, expand quality insurance coverage, and improve access to
On Wednesday, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) revealed that he was working on a bill to delay the Obamacare individual mandate. He said in late September that he would support efforts to delay the individual mandate, but this is the first time that Manchin has signified that he will lead a legislative effort toward such a delay. Manchin’s spokesperson, Jonathan Kott, said Manchin will not back Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R-FL) proposal for an indefinite delay to work out insurance exchange glitches, but that he would instead work on a bill “to delay the pena
More than 700 websites have been created with names playing off of Obamacare or Healthcare.gov, making it likely that some Americans will mistakenly hand over private information to unknown third-parties. For instance, there is a website — www.obama-care.us — that brands itself as part of the "Obamacare enrollment team," directs people to an "Obamacare enrollment form" and asks users for their name, address, Social Security number and other contact information. According to a counter at the bottom of the page, more than 3,000 people have visited obama-care.us.
Juan Williams has a clear grip on responsibility for the failure of a program that got passed in Congress with no Republican votes, and implemented with no Republican management in a Democratic administration. Williams claims that the White House would have delayed the rollout of ObamaCare’s exchanges except for the opposition of the GOP to the program as a whole. As a result, Williams argues, Barack Obama and Kathleen Sebelius had no choice but to lie about the exchanges and let it unfold. Come on — you knew the media would eventually get around to this argument. You just didn’t
A top Senate Democrat said that a leading House Republican told President Obama that they could not ´even stand to look at you´ during negotiations over the government shutdown. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said in a Facebook post that the alleged confrontation happened during a meeting between Republicans and the president. "Many Republicans searching for something to say in defense of the disastrous shutdown strategy will say President Obama just doesn´t try hard enough to communicate with Republicans," Durbin said. "But in a ´negotiation´ meeting with the president, one GOP House Leader told the president: ´I cannot even stand to
Marines are decrying a new look President Obama has planned for their uniforms — namely, a unisex-style cap that they say looks more French than American, more “girly” than hard-charging. “We don’t even have enough funding to buy bullets and the DoD [Department of Defense] is pushing to spend $8 million on covers that look like women’s hats,” one senior Marine said to The New York Post. “The Marines deserve better. It makes them look ridiculous.” One estimate is that the new hats could cost about $8 million. The hats are thinner and smaller, aimed at looking equally good on females as well
On the top of Thursday´s broadcast of his radio show, Sean Hannity revealed Erling Davis, the Obamacare operator he called early in his Monday show, got fired. Hannity quizzed her on how well the law is being received by applicants and she revealed no one liked it. Hannity had Davis on his show today and revealed he will give her a year´s salary of $26,000 and help her find a new job.
