Angry New Yorkers say Obama pledge
to cut red tape ignored by FEMA

FOX News, by Perry Chiaramonte

Original Article

Storm-ravaged New Yorkers say President Obama’s promise to cut red tape and get them aid in the aftermath of Sandy has proven to be hot air. Angry citizens vented at FEMA officials at a town hall meeting held by the disaster relief agency Thursday, with tempers boiling over. Some 1,000 people, many left homeless by the Oct. 29 storm, attended the meeting at Staten Island’s New Dorp High School. They were initially scheduled to submit written questions that would be picked and answered at random, but the session turned into an angry shouting match where residents booed FEMA officials

Comments:
They fell for the bomber jacket.

You voted for him and his lies, and it just goes to show how stupid you are for believing a word he says. Hello...Benghazi.

Meanwhile, I do understand that the more experienced and skilled grifters are getting $300.00 per night hotel accommodations in Manhattan. Remember the theft and fraud from Katrina...this will be much worse because BO´s constituents will feel entitled as they "got their free phone, minutes, gas and rent" from this guy.

Yea, they´ll vote for him again.

I cannot imagine the frustration some of these East Coast Americans are feeling. Winter´s coming as well as the holidays and what kind of future do they see?
Even if they did fall for Obama´s casual comfort and even if they did vote for him, they are human beings and fellow Americans. With that said, I don´t want to sound crass, but conservatives shouldn´t let this crisis go to waste. It´s a win/win. Help these people with today´s issues and help them see the light for future elections.
Win/win for everyone.
Keep them in your prayers at any rate.

I am continually struck by the stark differences in the response to this storm and the Japanese response to the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami of last year. Those people just dug in and cleaned it up. Nearly 16 thousand people died with 2800 people still missing. Infrastructure trashed all over the North Eastern shore of Honshu. Japanese from all over the country headed for Tohoku with relief supplies and portable everything to begin the recovery process. That happened within hours.

And these people in NJ and NY are still moaning about how little the government is doing for them. Power people from the South turned away from their tasks by Union Thugs. Everything imaginable went wrong. I feel for these people who are really hurting but then the truth comes out that they are not helping themselves. Waiting for Obama to fix the red tape and pay their phone bills and hand them a stack of twenties. They will be waiting a long time for that.

The way New Yorkers elected Obama ... twice, it´s obvious they still refused to recognize that he´s a veritable BS factory.

Will any of the pathological Left take this as an opportunity to re-evaluate their hysterical bashing of Bush over Katrina? Oh, but that would require deeper reflection, systematic thought, and no double-standard... never mind.

What is shocking is that the victims of Sandy must believe it is the government´s job to make them whole again. This has never been. They will be lucky to get some help but not enough to rebuild if their insurance does to cover the damage. It has never been set up that way.

Southfield Public Schools today announced wide-ranging changes at the high school level that officials say will help the district improve the way it meets the needs of its increasingly transient population. Among the changes: Separating by gender classes in math, language arts, science and social studies at two high schools in a pilot program to test whether that improves academic achievement. The changes are not new, but few districts try so many of them at one time.[Snip] “What we wanted is a systemic jolt to the system,” Southfield Superintendent Wanda Cook-Robinson

There´s good news for those who fear things that bite in the night. Bed bugs could one day be captured using artificial surfaces that mimic bean leaves, researchers say.[Snip] Recently, though, researchers heard of a traditional Balkan remedy for bedbugs, a centuries-old technique used in Bulgaria, Serbia and other Eastern European countries. Bean leaves scattered on the floor next to beds seem to entrap the bugs as they scurry along the floor at night. The insect-encrusted leaves are then burned the next morning. An old folk remedy for bed bugs is being studied by scientists. The remedy — which comes from Eastern Europe — uses bean leaves to capture the parasites, reports The New York Times. Bean leaves are spread around the room with bed bugs. Each leaf is covered in thousands of tiny hooks — similar to velcro — that catch the insects. The hooks manage to pierce the insects where their exoskeleton is thinnest. The leaves are gathered in the morning and burned to kill the bugs. The study — soon to be published

Obama, Kerry and Hagel thought that they had a plan for putting North Korea back in the box. North Korea had conducted a nuclear test in February, violating once again the various understandings that had been worked out. But agreements and understandings, written or oral, had never meant much to the repressive regime which had suspended the Armistice Agreement that ended the Korean War numerous times—including last month. So Obama decided to wave a stick. The playbook for North Korea would feature flights by B-2 and B-52 bombers and F-22 fighter jets to remind the North Korean military

Europe is swirling in a maelstrom, and it is hard to see what can save the mother continent of so much we cherish. The sovereign debt crisis -- national governments which cannot honor their promises to repay holders of their bonds -- is spreading from the original PIGS (Portugal, Ireland, Greece and Spain) to neighboring nations. Italy is the worst new case, but France now has a "negative" bond rating by all three of the major rating services -- Fitch, Moody´s, and Standard & Poor´s. Just over a week ago, Chicago Public School (CPS) officials announced the closing of 54 elementary schools contained in 61 buildings, located in poor, mostly black and Hispanic neighborhoods. The move represents the largest mass closing of schools in the nation’s history. CPS, facing a projected budget deficit of $1 billion in 2014, insists money spent keeping schools with declining enrollment open can be better used elsewhere. Approximately 30,000 students will be affected by the move. The Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) and many parents are furious, and vow to fight.

As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.

It starts when the icons of a dissipated culture reduce a baby to a “fetus.” From there, Yeats’s blood-dimmed tide rolls rapidly in. With President Obama, there’s always a catch. In the 2014 budget he announced last week, Obama proposed a more accurate way of calculating the inflation rate for annual cost-of-living increases in Social Security. It’s a technical change in pursuit of honesty and good government. And if adopted, it would cause benefits to grow more slowly, though almost imperceptibly so. Republican leaders in Congress ought to be delighted since they had “championed”—Obama’s word—the idea in the first place. Then came the catch. The president’s price for adopting this gentle reform was hundreds of billions in new tax increases.
