AAA says certain ethanol fuel can damage cars, asks EPA to remove from pumps

| The recently approved use of E15 fuel made from blending gasoline and ethanol could damage vehicles and void warranties says the American Automobile Association (AAA), which is urging the federal government to ban it from the market. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved the fuel earlier this summer, but AAA says only five percent of vehicles on the road are approved by the manufacturers to use the special blend they say causes significant problems such as accelerated engine wear and failure, fuel-system damage and false “check engine” warning lights.

EPA does not care about harm to engines. The crappy Ethanol they foisted on us as gasoline cost me $3,000 in boat motor repairs. Now we have a few stations that sell non-Ethanol fuel but it is expensive.

If by "leftists" you mean the corn lobby, well then I guess farmer Brown is a commie. Not that I have any love for the EPA -- far from it -- but pandering to the grain belt to curry favor and gain votes is something that most politicians seem eager to do.

The point is, #3, we should be allowed to easily buy non-Ethanol fuel without paying a premium for it. The gubmint ala EPA is scamming us.

#1 is absolutely correct. You wouldn´t believe how many boats, small engines, and older cars have been trashed due to this crap. And, although you might find ethanol free gas in some areas, it´s like finding a needle in a haystack. We have ONE station that sells it in our area and, as #1 says, it runs around 15 cents more per gallon. This nation is rapidly becoming a joke...and the joke´s on us.

15 cents is a bargain, we 30 cents a gallon extra for it although that is cheaper than a new or rebuilt engine.

What is short-sighted is that once engines are damaged by increased ethanol useage they get poor mileage and end up burning more petroleum than before.

Rural living requires that I have:
chain saw riding mower walk-behind mower small generator weed whacker Kawasaki Mule old pickup
All of these are subject to being ruined by ethanol. (Some already have been.) Luckily, there is a good-ole-boy station less than ten miles away that sells ethanol-free gas at reasonable prices.

Rep. Elijah Cummings is backing away from his assertion that the investigation into the IRS scandal is “solved” and says he still wants to work with Republicans on the probe. In a brief interview with POLITICO on Wednesday, Cummings said that he was trying to argue that — contrary to some GOP comments — the investigation has proven the Obama administration didn’t order the IRS to target conservative groups applying for a tax exemption. “The witch hunt needs to end,” said Cummings, who is the top Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

"We´re not going to have to wait that long," Obama said. "From Minnesota to Maryland, from the U.S. Senate to the NBA, it´s clear we´ve reached a turning point." The president said that progress could be traced "from the courage of those who stood up." "Eventually America gets it right. That doesn´t mean we can be patient," Obama said.

WASHINGTON - It´s called the Affordable Care Act, but President Barack Obama´s health care law may turn out to be unaffordable for many low-wage workers, including employees at big chain restaurants, retail stores and hotels. That might seem strange since the law requires medium-sized and large employers to offer "affordable" coverage or face fines. But what´s reasonable? Because of a wrinkle in the law, companies can meet their legal obligations by offering policies that would be too expensive for many low-wage workers. For the employee, it´s like a mirage — attractive but out of reach. The company

Asked what the moral difference is between what Dr. Kermit Gosnell did to babies born alive and aborting those same infants moments before birth, Pelosi refused to answer. Franks made the comment during a committee mark-up of his late-term abortion ban bill, which is expected pass the House next week. The Republican lawmaker was arguing against a Democratic amendment allowing rape and incest victims to procure abortions. As written, the bill only exempts women whose lives are in danger.
