White House: Obama ´Will

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said today that no matter what else happens President Barack Obama--who is the only modern president other than Franklin Roosevelt to serve in four years when federal spending topped 24 percent of GDP--will not sign a deal to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff that will arrive at the end of this year unless that deal increases taxes. "So the President made clear that he is not wedded to every detail of his plan," said Carney. "The President has also made categorically and abundantly clear that he will not sign an extension of the

If they don´t do anything he gets his way and taxes increase. So he sees it as a win-win, except if the pubbies cave he will get more out of them than just a tax increase when the reductions disappear next year.

E repubs should just go home for the holidays. Melt the tax cuts expire... Raise taxes on everyone, let the cuts kick in. Let those entitlement programs finally feel the pain.maybe it´ll make them start to send illegals home, when they get in line for entitlements before citizens after the cuts.

They are going to be blamed for anything and everything if zippy and the Dems don´t get everything they want anyway, so just call it a year. They´ve already proven they are at best incapable of stopping, if not complicit, in allowing this administration to run roughshod over the constitution, and their own irrelevance.

We should put all of them down at Gitmo.

"It’s bad economic policy and we cannot afford it."

Right. But ADDING another $50 billion in new spending on top of the over-the-top spending we already have is what? The work of an economic genius? And no spending cuts when they are clearly needed - that´s another mark of good economic policy?

Oh - wait - I get it ! The socialist model! How SILLY of me! We´re going to SPEND our way to prosperity! Of course!

Obama is forgetting something -- WE won. We The People elected a GOP House in a landslide again because we want an end to out-of-control spending.

The House should vote to extend the tax cuts for everybody. Lower taxes equals higher economic growth. Let the Obama and Senate refuse to sign on -- they will then own the tax increases, diminished growth and job losses that result.

Go home, Republicans.

Now that Obama has stated he will not sign a deal unless it raises taxes, and the Republicans have stated they will not sign a deal that does, the negotiations should be over.

The only reason John Boehner and Mitch McConnell would keep the negotiations going now would be because they have such contempt for their fellow Republican Congressmen that they believe them capable of dishonoring their anti-tax pledges and caving in to Obama.

The honorable Republicans in Congress should be on their way home by now.

Reply 17 - Posted by: Teleologicus, 11/30/2012 11:37:10 AM     (No. 9041311)

Compromise, Chicago style.

Obama and the Democrats really have a thing about raising taxes, don´t they? It is a point of honor for them. Fairness is the thing. Some people have more money than they need. Obama said so himself. "At some point," said the president, "a person has enough money," He didn´t specify the figure or how it is arrived at. It may be one of those things like pornography, hard to to define, but you know it when you see it.

Taxes! Got to raise those taxes! There is a principle involved.

Too bad Obama and the Democrats can´t say they won´t support a bill unless it includes genuine, effective, honest to goodness spending cuts and controls. Why not? Just to be fair and bipartisan, why not say no bill unless BOTH tax increases and honest spending cuts and controls included. Not the usual, phony, make-believe spending cuts and controls, mind you, but real ones.

Seems like the bipartisan thing would be to emphasize raising revenue and controlling spending equally. But no. Not for Democrats. Never for Democrats.

Democrats have no intention of cutting spending. Everybody knows that. They don´t need to say it. We know, they know it, they know we know it, we know they know we know it etc. No spending cuts, not for real. Just tax increases.

Just think what that $4,000,000 family vacation Obama is scheduled to take could buy if wisely used. Couldn´t the American people make better use of those funds than the Obama family on vacation? How come in this time of fiscal crisis Obama and family are charging four million bucks to the American taxpayer? What kind of credit card does he think he has, a no limit one?

In this clip, 0bama acknowledges that he understands higher tax rates cause lower tax revenues and he doesn´t care!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJimLZRC9N8

The House should read a transcript of this clip into the Congressional record, then pass the exact same budget as 2004, with no funds allocated to programs, departments or offices that did not exist then.

Every Republican should be trying to get on as many media events as possible to ridicule 0bama´s obstructionism for refusing to compromise, and his stated opposition to higher tax revenues through lower tax rates.

Use Alinsky´s Rules against him, laugh at his announced opposition to higher revenues! make him a laughingstock for saying he won´t sign the bill before they even debate and vote for what is in the bill! Force him to eat his words!

And if he vetoes the bill, try to override the veto, then vote for a bill that has even more spending cuts...to his preferred programs.

Left-wing magazine Mother Jones made news this week with a report based on a secret recording of a Feb. 2 meeting of Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell with campaign strategists. Federal and state law prohibits publication of information acquired through secret recording, but a 2001 Supreme Court ruling gives publishers like Mother Jones a get-out-of-jail-free card. But whoever taped the private conversation can’t wiggle off the hook so easily. Whoever bugged the meeting room or secretly placed a recording device will be in serious legal trouble — unless he or she was one of the strategists.

Since February of 2009, the first full month of Obama´s presidency, there have been 70,291,049 background checks for gun purchases, according to data released by the FBI. Using February 1, 2009 as our starting date, and March 31, 2013 as our end date, (the latest data from the FBI) Obama has been president for 1,520 days. That equates to 36,480 hours, or 2,188,800 minutes. Divide the 70,291,049 background checks by 2,188,800 minutes and you get approximately 32 checks for gun purchases every minute!

The Gallup poll, which sampled more than 1,000 Americans, found that 57 percent say they have a “great deal or a fair amount of confidence” in Mr. Obama to do the right thing on the economy. That’s up from just 50 percent last year and hasn’t been this high since it hit 71 percent in 2008. Trust in congressional Republicans, on the other hand, remains low.
