Let the tax cuts expire. Let sequestration take place. Let it all implode, it´ll be e only way to rebuild it.

The Repubs will screw us over and cave anyhow, so just to home for the holidays and let the hammer drop.

Tend to agree with #1. Washington is a mess. Both parties seems worse than useless. We might literally be better off if they do nothing and we go over the cliff.

From another angle, I have been thinking about whether Washington can be fixed in Washington.

No one will dispute that they can make matters worse. Far worse. Quickly. But could they act wisely and bring recovery? Can that be done?

If we have already hit the iceberg the best Captain and crew, with the best intentions, will not make the ship float.

There is no point in negotiating with the Dems since they start renegotiating the week after they reach an agreement. Their last agreement was the Simpson Bowles commission with sequestration if Congress couldn´t act. Now they want to blow off sequestration and even increase spending. They wouldn´t extend the Bush rates more than a year, and demanded an extension of Payroll Tax Holiday and other Obama credits to do that. Now they want keep 65 to 70% of the cuts but eliminate them for the crucial job creators. I´m with #1, let the taxes go up on everyone, the Holiday end, the extended unemployment benefits end and force them to make cuts. Let it happen according to end of 2011 deal.

Going ´over the cliff´ will result in an actual non-Washington world definition of cutting federal spending. The defense cuts can be handled by actually making DoD cut a lot of bases the Pols have kept open for non-military political purposes, they can eliminate weapon systems that are too costly, they can pull out of Japan, Korea, Germany and all other locations not needed anymore. The discretionary spending cuts are just a start. The increase in taxes will prove the Dhimmicrats lied about Bush tax cuts are just ´for the rich´.

Then the few Repubs in the House, including new Tea Party reinforcements, can insist on CUTTING SPENDING FIRST and SECURE THE BORDER.

Fiscal Cliff is just a scare term the DEMS created to intimidate people into not challenging their corruption. Fiscal Cliff will be the only way to get any cuts. Let´s do it, Jan 1.

The author listed first seems reluctant to accept reality. His thesis of two warring sides doesn´t exist. GOP types freely announced Obama has won and it´s their job to give him what he wants. Dinan should focus on that because that´s the story.

I think congress and the idjet in the WH all want each and every tax cut to expire. It would be another windfall of money that they could spend on another wasteful program or money to fund the Death Bill. The economy would tank in 3, 2, 1....

I recommend we take the dive off the fiscal cliff. This is the only way to get the mandatory domestic spending cuts. Once off the cliff the House (because that is where all budget matters must originate) pass a permanent tax relief bill reinstating the Bush Tax rates. Let Obama and the Democrats vote against middle class tax relief, good for 2014. Then, pass a second bill to relieve the military of 1/2 the mandatory budget cuts. Let Obama and the Democrats vote against supporting our military during a time of war. Another winning issue for 2014. I sure hope someone in the GOP Leadership reads Lucianne. This is a no brainer...the only way we the people will get the domestic spending cuts.

Sequestration is a fantastic tool for cutting spending. Tax increases are lamentable, but if voters want big entitlement programs, then they will have to pay for them. The Chinese aren´t going to bankroll our bloated deficit forever.
