| President Obama is assembling his new national security team, with Senator John Kerry possibly heading for the Pentagon and U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice the perceived front-runner to become secretary of state. Kerry is an excellent choice for defense. I don’t know Rice at all, so I have no opinion on her fitness for the job, but I think the contrived flap over her Libya comments certainly shouldn’t disqualify her. The spectacular success of the Chicago school system is because of Duncan´s skill and expertise. His working closely and negotiating with the union have produced a school system that is the envy of the world. The graduation rate this year is 60% for 5 years of school at $13,000 per student per year.
If that isn´t success, I don´t know what is. Me and Tommy boy know a good man when we see one.
If Arnie could take his success to a national level, our schools will be the envy of the world. Thank God for Arnie and the Teacher´s Union.

Is this a joke? Arne left Chicago to become Sec. of Education. Have our schools improved at all? NO! They are worse off now after four years of Arne. Ask any teacher in the trenches. Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.

LOS ANGELES — Jonathan Winters, the cherub-faced comedian whose breakneck improvisations and misfit characters inspired the likes of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, has died. He was 87. The Ohio native died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes, said Joe Petro III, a longtime family friend. Petro said Winters died of natural causes and was surrounded by family and friends.
