| Black leaders are growing increasingly worried that a white candidate might seize the seat of former Democratic Rep. Jesse Jackson in the upcoming Illinois special election. Losing Jackson’s seat would be a blow to the black establishment. Chicago, long a center of black cultural and political power — With a host of black candidates announcing their intention to run, the concern is that they could split the African-American vote and provide a plurality to a white contender. The worries escalated this week after former Rep. Debbie Halvorson, a white Democrat and veteran of suburban Chicago politics,

You just want to scream sometimes...when a democrat dies or retires, the rest scream that "It´s a Democrat seat!!" A black retires or dies or decides to ´spend more time with family´, then "It´s a black seat...you can´t have it!!!" It´s never just a Congressional seat. Post-racial society...what a laugh.

FTA: "The battle we have is that we can’t afford to lose a black voice in Congress. It would be a terrible loss in many ways"
Considering that JJJ has been absent from Congress for at least 6 months, maybe they can show us how their "loss of a black voice" for that period has been such a terrible loss to them.
This is beyond pure racism by blacks. It is black entitlement mentality. Corrupt, incompetent, ignorant, or just stupid? It doan matter none. Long as you be black we be ´lectin´ you.

We just never seem to get down to the specifics of "black issues" do we? There is always vague talk about black unemployment and black opportunities, but WHY is there higher unemployment among them, and exactly what opportunities are being denied them institutionally?
And what´s this jive about a black voice? Are white, Asian, or Jewish voices lacking in some timbre, some subsonic throb that black voices have and hear among themselves only?
Seems to me they want to behave as a threatening racial tribe always on the verge of violence but not judged that way.

FTA - Some black officials have met Halvorson’s entry into the race with outright hostility. Kwame Raoul, a Democratic state senator who has been vocal about his concern that a white candidate could win the seat, said the former congresswoman is exploiting an opportunity
Switch the words ´black´ and ´white´ and imagine how swiftly charges of hostile racism would be leveled.

The democrats are being hoisted on their own petard. This was one of the most minority districts in the nation but in 2011 Illinois Democrats were so determined to squeeze out all the Tea Party winners from 2010 they extended Jackson´s seat into the cornfields south of Kankakee. Now it is probably the least minority majority district in Congress.
Halvorson may be the reason Jackson didn´t pull out over the summer. She ran decent second to Jackson in the March 2012 primary and would have had a fair number of votes from the county chairman, township committeeman and ward heelers who would have named a substitute for the November race had Jackson stepped aside.

Shortly after December´s mass school shooting in Newtown, Conn., President Barack Obama vowed to do all he could to combat gun violence, both by pressing Capitol Hill to enact new laws and by taking certain steps on his own. More than four months later, not only has Congress rejected new firearms restrictions, but some of the more modest steps the president initiated also face hurdles. His nominee to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which has long lacked a permanent director, awaits a Senate hearing. A $10 million budget allocation to research

The media has found the real cause of the Boston Marathon Bombing. It was not radical Islam. Oh no. That’s silly and, if we’re being honest with each other, a little offensive. I’m disappointed in you for even thinking such a thing. How dare you jump to conclusions like that? No no, the real spark? The real evil that sent Tamerlan Tsarnaev down his deadly path? When Michael Best drove back to his quiet neighborhood in Tupelo, Miss., on Tuesday, he couldn’t get to his house. The FBI had stretched police tape from one side of the street to the next, as they searched the home of his neighbor, a bluesman and former Mensa member named J. Everett Dutschke, arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of mailing letters laced with ricin to the president, a U.S. senator and a local judge. (Beyond confirming the arrest via a text message to The Daily Beast Saturday, Dutschke’s Tupelo attorney said she would not be making any additional comment.)

Notre Dame’s celebrated middle linebacker was left standing at the NFL altar Thursday night after pre-draft speculation had him going to the Bears or Vikings. The Bears went with Kyle Long, filling a need at OG with the 20th pick while the Vikings passed on him three times, taking DT Sharrif Floyd at 23, CB Xavier Rhodes at 25 and WR Cordarrelle Patterson at 29. A USDA Spanish language flyer provided to the Mexican Embassy, according to Judicial Watch, reads that if potentially ineligible immigrants want to obtain benefits for their children they “need not divulge information regarding your immigration status in seeking this benefit for your children.”

He sees “a huge train wreck coming down” with the implementation of President Obama’s health care takeover. Now he tells us. With no sense of irony, the senator complained to Kathleen Sebelius, the secretary of Health and Human Services, that he is “very concerned” that Obamacare exchanges will not open on time. “The administration’s public information campaign

In December 2011, when Ron Paul was leading the Republican presidential-primary pack in the Iowa caucuses, the former Texas congressman’s notorious newsletters resurfaced in the national debate. The newsletters’ content—a toxic stew of racism, homophobia, anti-Semitism, sympathy for right-wing militia movements, and support for a litany of conspiracy theories—had been revealed by this writer in 2008. But Paul’s latter-day resurgence, particularly with young voters and the Tea Party, provoked a renewed round of interest in his shady associations and fringe beliefs. Law enforcement officials are touting news that the Boston Marathon bombers acted alone. The source for their conclusion? Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who has averred from his hospital bed that he and his brother had no links to any terrorist organization. This may or may not be true; it’s possible that even if Dzhokhar is sincere he may not have known about links cultivated by his brother during Tamerlan’s sojourn to Dagestan last year. But even if it’s true that their bombing was not directed by foreign terrorist organizations, it was certainly inspired by them. In seeking to explain their heinous actions,

After four years of silent obscurity, former President George W. Bush will return the national spotlight Today for the inauguration of his presidential library in Dallas, Texas. When Bush left office back in 2009, he was the politician that everyone in America loved to hate. His approval ratings were in the tank at 33 percent — the lowest of any outgoing president since Richard Nixon — and just 24 percent of Americans approved of the way he had handled the economic collapse. On the eve of Bush´s political comeback tour, however, the American people appear to have largely forgiven

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was only 19 years old when he allegedly planned and carried out one of the worst acts of terror on U.S. soil since 9/11. This, however, is actually not an uncommon age for radicalization. In fact a number of suicide bombers and terrorist convicts were radicalized at around exactly this time; Hasib Hussain, for example, one of the London 7/7 bombers of 2004 was 18. This is when the existential wound that has been festering since childhood is most vulnerable to external forces. Radical Islamist ideology is a poison disguised as a cure. Michelle Obama did not walk the E!-streamed red carpet before tonight´s White House Correspondents´ Dinner — she was already at home, of course — so our first glimpse of her black Monique Lhuillier gown came later, once dinner started. And damn does she look good. This is a sexier look on her than usual, with a sheer lace panel over her decolletage and a molded bustier-style top. She very wisely chose a dress that photographs well while she´s sitting down, Schiaparelli-style, with elaborate beading along her collarbone and fitted cap sleeves that flatter her arms. Washington - America´s blacks voted at a higher rate than other minority groups in 2012 and by most measures surpassed the white turnout for the first time, reflecting a deeply polarized presidential election in which blacks strongly supported Barack Obama while many whites stayed home. Had people voted last November at the same rates they did in 2004, when black turnout was below its current historic levels, Republican Mitt Romney would have won narrowly, according to an analysis conducted for The Associated Press. President Obama´s weekly remarks: Hi, everybody. Our top priority as a nation must be growing the economy, creating good jobs, and rebuilding opportunity for the middle class. But two months ago, Congress allowed a series of automatic budget cuts to fall across the federal government that would do the opposite. In Washington-speak, these cuts were called the “sequester.” It was a bad idea then. And as the country saw this week, it’s a bad idea now. Because of these reckless cuts, there are parents whose kids just got kicked out of Head Start programs scrambling for a solution.

Obama´s weekly address comes after Congress on Friday overwhelming approved a bill putting furloughed air traffic controllers back on the job, thus undoing one of the most high-profile effects of the so-called sequestration, the $85 billion in automatic budget cuts that took effect March 1 and hit federal spending across the board. WASHINGTON — Russian authorities secretly recorded a telephone conversation in 2011 in which one of the Boston bombing suspects vaguely discussed jihad with his mother, officials said Saturday, days after the U.S. government finally received details about the call. In another conversation, the mother of now-dead bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev was recorded talking to someone in southern Russia who is under FBI investigation in an unrelated case, officials said. The conversations are significant because, had they been revealed earlier, they might have been enough evidence for the FBI to initiate a more thorough investigation of the Tsarnaev family. The surviving suspect accused of the Boston Marathon bombings tweeted in the aftermath of the terrorist attack, joking about the fate of victims of the explosions. Dzhokhar ´Jahar´ Tsarnaev, 19, took to the social media website and engaged in banter with a friend making light of the deadly explosions that killed three and injured more than 260. In one of his many tweets, the college sophomore wrote, ´Lol those people are cooked´ likely in reference to a since deleted conversation about the events unfolding in Boston.
