Third man sues ex-Elmo
puppeteer, claims NY abuse

A Florida man has sued the ex-Elmo puppeteer, saying the voice actor met him while trolling gay telephone chat lines seeking underage boys for sex. The lawsuit seeking unspecified damages was filed in Manhattan federal court by a man who remains anonymous. The man says he met Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash on a chat line when he was 16 years old in 2000 and exploring modeling opportunities in New York. The lawsuit says Clash had numerous Elmo dolls in his apartment when he met the teen for sex. The man, now 29, is the third to make claims against Clash,

Comments:
This is getting toxic for the guy who manipulated Elmo to generations of kids. Sad. Surprised that 0bama hasn´t chimed in because Clash is ...black.

West Hollywood, CA - A potentially deadly strain of meningitis, which has left one resident brain dead, has sent a shiver through the large gay community here, as public health officials have urged residents to be on the lookout for any symptoms of the disease. Although only one case has been confirmed in the area, officials said, the onset follows an outbreak of deadly meningitis in New York City among gay men. At least 22 men have contracted meningitis in New York since 2010, 13 of them this year, and 7 have died. “The lesson we learned 30 years ago in the early days of H.I.V. and AIDS is

No Stranger to Scandal, Spitzer

As he considers a potential mayoral run in the wake of an online sex scandal, former Representative Anthony D. Weiner has won a vote of confidence from a politician who can identify with his predicament: Eliot Spitzer. Mr. Spitzer, who resigned in 2008 as governor of New York amid revelations that he had solicited prostitutes, said in a radio interview that Mr. Weiner “will make it as a serious candidate if he plunges in, as I think he will.” The former governor predicted that after a period of public contrition, Mr. Weiner would “very soon go from being the candidate who had to fight to get in

A Port Canaveral police sergeant was fired Friday after an internal investigation showed he offered other officers a target resembling Trayvon Martin to use for shooting practice. Sgt. Ron King, a two-year veteran of the force of about 35 sworn officers, offered the target of a hoodie-wearing Trayvon at the range near Cocoa on April 4, Rosalind Harvey, a port spokeswoman, said Saturday. The other officers, who were on duty, refused. King led firearms classes at the range, Harvey said. Port Canaveral Interim Chief Executive Officer John Walsh apologized publicly to Trayvon's family Saturday.

Tallahassee, FL - Changes under Republican Gov. Rick Scott are making it more difficult for Florida´s former felons to get their voting rights restored, which critics say has suppressed the minority vote and hurt Democratic candidates. (Snip) A disproportionate number of black Floridians are convicted felons - 16.5 percent of Floridians are black, yet black inmates make up 31.5 percent of the state´s prison population - meaning a higher percentage of African-Americans don´t have the right to vote after completing their sentences. And black voters tend to support Democrats.

´Nazi´ theme draws leave

Albany - The Albany school district has placed on leave a teacher whose persuasive writing assignment was for students to argue that Jews are evil in order to convince a Nazi official of their loyalty. The teacher was not in class at Albany High School on Friday and Superintendent Marguerite Vanden Wyngaard said the district will take some form of disciplinary action. She said it was too early to say exactly what that would be, but it could range from a letter of reprimand to termination. She did not say when the district would allow the teacher back in the classroom and suggested it may not happen

The political calculus of gun control

Washington - Last week, the two competing heavyweights in the debate over gun control — the National Rifle Association and Mayors Against Illegal Guns — announced that they will both "score," or grade, members of the Senate on upcoming votes. (Snip) Sen. Susan Collins has a C+ rating from the NRA, which puts her tied for the lowest score among Senate Republicans. Yet she sailed to re-election in 2008 and enjoyed a 66 percent approval rating among Maine Republicans — and 60 percent among Democrats — in a recent poll. On Saturday, Collins threw her support behind a bipartisan

North Korea, which seemed to be running out of tubs to thump, found a new target for its ire in a propaganda video released Saturday on Uriminzokkiri, a government Web site. To a soundtrack of fervent synthesizers and inspirational light rock, the video announces that North Korea will aim nuclear weapons (that it may, or may not, be able to launch) at Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Honolulu and… Colorado Springs, Co. The unorthodox move — apparently an attempt to target the North American Aerospace Defense Command, or Norad, and the United States Air Force Academy

Los Angeles - Kobe Bryant pushed his fraying body and his Lakers teammates relentlessly through the second half of a vital game Friday night until he felt a searing pain in his left heel. Bryant tore his Achilles’ tendon. His season is over. Although the Lakers held on to beat Golden State, Bryant said they would have to continue their playoff chase without him. “M.R.I., surgery and then recovery,” Bryant told reporters. Bryant scored 34 points while playing much of the second half in obvious pain with an injured left leg, eventually leaving with 3 minutes 6 seconds to play

Barinas, Venezuela - Under the sweltering sun of Venezuela’s Los Llanos, a vast savannah famous for its cowboys and revolutionaries, 60-year-old Adán Chávez speaks passionately to a crowd of red-clad supporters. In his voice and rhetoric trembles a hint of his recently deceased younger brother, Hugo Chávez, the country’s former president. Some journalists are asking why the murder trial of a Philadelphia abortion doctor isn’t receiving more coverage. In 2010, police raided Dr. Kermit Gosnell’s abortion clinic, called the Women’s Medical Society, in a low-income neighborhood of West Philadelphia and found what a grand jury report called a “baby charnel house” where illegal and late term abortions were performed under dangerous conditions. Now on trial, Gosnell is charged with the death of one patient and seven babies allegedly born alive during abortion procedures; eight former employees–none of whom were certified

Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

In Philadelphia, at a human abattoir on Lancaster Avenue, is where it ends, not where it starts. It starts with the perversion of language. It starts when the icons of a dissipated culture reduce a baby to a “fetus.” From there, Yeats’s blood-dimmed tide rolls rapidly in. Before long, a baby is not a person but a punishment, as President Barack Obama framed the matter in his familiar off-the-cuff iciness. Of course, to describe newborn children in their boundless possibilities and wonder would be to acknowledge, foremost, their humanity. That is why, instead, abortion enthusiasts must grope for words

Sen. The law, said Rockefeller, is “so complicated and if it isn’t done right the first time, it will just simply get worse.” Rockefeller’s consternation echoes comments made earlier this

They say they were just doing what the boss trained them to do. But eight former employees of a run-down West Philadelphia abortion clinic now face prison time for the work they did for Dr. Kermit Gosnell. Three have pleaded guilty to third-degree murder. And Gosnell, 72, is on trial in the deaths of a patient and seven babies allegedly born alive. In testimony at the capital murder trial this past month, an unlicensed doctor and untrained aides described long, chaotic days at the clinic. They said they performed grueling, often gruesome work for little more than minimum wage,

With President Obama, there’s always a catch. In the 2014 budget he announced last week, Obama proposed a more accurate way of calculating the inflation rate for annual cost-of-living increases in Social Security. It’s a technical change in pursuit of honesty and good government. And if adopted, it would cause benefits to grow more slowly, though almost imperceptibly so. Republican leaders in Congress ought to be delighted since they had “championed”—Obama’s word—the idea in the first place. Then came the catch. The president’s price for adopting this gentle reform was hundreds of billions in new tax increases.

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.
